Vertical Axis Entertainment Video Trailer

Very nice editing and clips. Quite cool. Be nice to see the whole thing! ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka -
I'm both a skydiver and a college student. Marquette University. There is one other person here that I know skydives. I wouldn't say I'm conservative in the air. Average would be a better bet. I know a girl who jumps and is going to start going to school soon as a freshman. I know another who just graduated and has been a skydiver when she was in school. Its hard to get a lot of jumps when you have no money, but if you stretch it right

My questions is... Are you using your own SMTP server to send out the mail? If you are you should consider setting up the system to forward through a smart host. I have a linux box that sits at home and allows incoming SMTP with authentication and then sends it out through my ISP (Road Runner) the reason I did this is when I am not at home with my laptop its nice to not have to mess with smtp settings. It all just goes through home first. I was having problems with people not getting emails from a site of mine and from me as well. So I now send everything through a bonified SMTP server. This pretty much cleared up all the problems. Most major ISPs block incoming mail from Dynamic IPs. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Some people at my DZ jump naked in the winter. It doesn't seem to be too bad for them don't know if I am down for that though. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. He noticed it, and it was the only thing that I really noticed. Can't you fix that by rotating the picture that you shot of the ground. Its just on the wrong side I think. Just 180 it and it might look to follow the curves a little better. I think there are some photoshop effects you can use to adjust how the picture curves. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Yeah I have basically the same problem. It fucking sucks. I could go on for days with reasons why but none of that really matters. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Re: [Airman1270] New definition for skygod?
Fast replied to somethinelse's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I see female jumpers getting a LOT more one on one attention from people. If you add a willingness to learn its even more prominent. At my DZ there are a few people who typically organize for RW. We are a lot smaller than the major DZs but we are still decent sized. The group of people I jump the most with will include anyone on the DZ as long as they show a desire to learn/improve. If a person doesn't show that they are giving their best effort to learn something and get better it makes it harder to deal with them on every jump if they continually screw up. Its easy to deal with a situation where a person makes a mistake if they are trying to learn. No one wants to force a person to learn they have to want it too (and actually try.) As for the swooping / skygod correllation I dunno about that. People are who they are regardless of what skill set they have or what type of jumping they do. If a person is an asshole they are an asshole. If they let "how good they are" go to their heads it has nothing to do with the skydiving, it is just the personality of the person. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Bandit jumping happens but I would guess a lot less these days. It is fun though to listen to the old timers tell stories about that kind of stuff though. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. the uspa defines it as You have lots of experience and such but I think your pushing it when saying that a Hook turn is something that results in injury. Maybe your just trying to make a point to someone who is new. I don't know. Making it sound like if you do a hook turn your going to die seems to be a stretch. At my DZ Hop'n'pops are sometimes refered to as Hop'n'Hooks. Even a carving front riser dive is sorta a hook. That and I watch someone do hook turns in the traditional toggle whip sense every week and he isn't dead. (I would bet there are a few other DZs out there too that have people similar who have been doing it so long thats all they do) I don't know, it just felt like this thread got a little too close to the hook = death mark. Is the point of not saying front riser dives are hook turns supposed to try and get away from the negative connotation? I would guess that incidents about a messed up front riser 270 are still considred hook turn accidents. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. You're both probably awful drivers. /eta: I'm kidding of course, but you're absolutely right. Everyone has different criterion for quality driving. My goal is to walk that fine line where my passengers don't experience terror, and those in cars around me don't experience rage. Thats about the same way that I am. I do drive quite a bit more aggressive when I am the only one in the vehicle. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. How often have you had a parabolic ride before exiting?

The phone number for the DZ is (262) 642-9494. I am looking forward to cheering on everyone who participates. It should be a cool attempt at the recod. It is getting done out of two planes. Should be a lot of fun for everyone involved. I think we are going to try and crack the overall state record next year too. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I wish that someone with this book would chop the binding and PDF the thing. It would be so nice to have when organizing jumps. I have some idea but I don't know enough formations for the odd sizes and I hate standing around waiting for someone to think of something and fumbling through it. I mean its sort of a copyright violation but the book is out of print. There isn't any way to get it anymore. If anyone with the book is willing to do that (or the copy that they have is already falling apart) I would love a pdf copy. PM me. p.s. Most copy machines that can send email can create PDFs from thier auto document feeder, if you didn't know that. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Zero G's are fun! Our pilot is pretty cool. He will do them now and then if there are no students/tandems on board. Would you trust a dental school student to work on your teeth?
Fast replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
I don't know if I would because I have been going to the same dentist forever. I can however say that I am only a few blocks from the School of Dentistry on my campus and they have a similar program. Lots of people take advantage of it. There is some level of skill that a person must reach before they are allowed to work on a live subject and there is normally some level of supervision. If it isn't anything overlly complicated I would go for it. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I like to speed. I like the feel of going fast, its just fun. I bought a truck so I would stop speeding as much as when I had a car. Keeps me under 100. Going more than 100 in a truck just feels too iffy. Used to do it a lot more when I owned a car. I would like to get a bike some day because the open air feeling is nice. As a kid I always liked to ride around on dirtbikes and quads. p.s. Anyone want to buy a 2001 Dodge Dakota 60k miles, well kept? ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. People are smart but from a quick glance I don't know if people will understand the feel your going for with the shot that has the wing. I would find one where its maybe a little farther and you can see more of the plane. We can recognize instantly that it is the underside of a wing but I don't know if wuffos will catch that as they walk by a poster on the wall. It might not matter if they get it, but I think that the point your trying to make will be more clear if you choose a shot that is both close to the main subject and still indicative of the plane inthe background. It seems that the subject of that area of the post ought to be more of the "what your doing" than the "who is doing it" I think that the expression of someone just exiting is cool too but the orientation of the picture doens't make it stand out to me. p.s. I like the way you used the backgrounds as more of a landscape and allowed the pictures to sort of pour out from the "window" of the ground below. Though i might chop the leg of the reserve side (white) JM because it would give more depth and wouldn't be overdoing the effect. He does appear to be much farther back. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I like the link quade. I have spent a fair amount of time this morning reading some of the things on that site. I really like the perspective that the past gives. As a young jumper it makes you think a lot more about how things were, how things are, what has changed, and what hasn't. Its a cool read. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka -
Make it back or survive the gusts?

Make it back or survive the gusts?
Fast replied to skyhighkiy's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Lotus. But when you land an airlock in high winds.... ....well.... it's kinda hard to collapse.... My thoughts include: If it is so turbulent that you think you need an airlocked canopy then maybe you should be sitting on the ground rather than jumping. Not to say that airlocks aren't an advantage if you find yourself in turbulent conditions. Just don't like the idea of people thinking that an airlocked canopy is a free pass to jump in overly turbulent winds. (Not that your thinking this, I don't know what your thinking, but I don't want anyone reading this thread to get that idea) ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
