  1. Woooooo!! After what feels like forever of waiting for this moment, I finally made my first skydive today, an AFF level one jump from an obscenely small Cessna. It was absolutely an incredible experience- y'all know what I mean, I'm sure. But even if I really get into this, then this one, it'll live forever in my memory as one of the best moments of my life. A few concerns I had, however, I was hoping maybe someone else had the same problems as well and could offer some advice. Everything went fairly well, I was calm as I've ever been, which surprised me, on the climb to altitude and climbing onto the strut. It all felt very natural. SO, I'm like "this is cool, ok..." and I let go of the plane. Sensory overload hits. I don't even remember the first few seconds, it seems like. but once i get my wits back, my arch is absolute crap. The upper half of my body is ok. but my JMs keep on giving me the legs out sign. You can see on the video that my legs are flapping around all over the place and I'm a bit unstable. It was frustrating because i never panicked or anything, but I felt in freefall as though I could never gain full control of my body. My legs just seemed in a separate world. As it turns out, I landed great, on my feet, which was really cool, and I passed to move on to level two, which I definitely want to do as well. It's just the leg thing bothers me and I wondered if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks. Skydiving is my affirmation of life. it's good to know God still needs me.
  2. Thanks everybody- I feel pretty set on AFF now, to tell you all the truth. Tandem seems too much like just throing money away. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination. (taking care of a six month old daughter will do that to you) And truth of the matter is, I'm not really on the fence about anything, I just am beginning to get the jitters. But I'm not backing out like all my other friends. Hell, no. I've waited my whole life for this. Skydiving is my affirmation of life. it's good to know God still needs me.
  3. topic. anyway, i'm doing my first jump AFF, and every1 i'm going with is doing tandem. is AFF really afe for someone who doesn't know whta they're doing? Am i insane? I really am doing it this way in case I love it and want to become accomplished at it. I'm nervous a little about screwing up on my very first jump and failing the level. 4. i think the aircraft is an otter or casa. i'm going to skydive carolina. Skydiving is my affirmation of life. it's good to know God still needs me.
  5. thanks. i don't know why but i like the idea of just jumping better than holding on to something outside the plane. i want just to not have to think about it, you know? just GO! Skydiving is my affirmation of life. it's good to know God still needs me.
  6. hey everybody, i'm going for my first jump in exactly 2 weeks, and i was wondering...exactly how do you exit the plane, usually? do you have to get on the wing, dangle from a bar, just jump, or what? i'd feel more comfortable if i knew what to expect. i'm going for my first AFF jump, if that makes any difference. Skydiving is my affirmation of life. it's good to know God still needs me.
  7. thanks y'all- i have to try out my icon a second, too. hope it works. go CANES! Anyway, anyone around here from the south or ever been to Skydive carolina? i'm curious about this place. Skydiving is my affirmation of life. it's good to know God still needs me.
  8. Hi everybody! I'm from North Carolina! Isn't that VEIRD?! Sorry, bad Goldmember reference. Anyway, my name is Steve, I'm 25, and I'm hopefully making my first jump on July 16th or 17th, at Skydive Carolina in Chester, SC. I'm excited but also nervous as crap. I'm also planning on making a AFF jump, instead of a tandem like the others I'm going with. I feel like this might be something that I really will love, and doing the AFF jump, I feel will help me to progress faster. I'm so freaking jacked up about my first jump, I've had skydiving dreams like 5 nights in a row now. I wouldn't be surprised if I have them for the next couple weeks straight at this rate. Over half my group I'm going with to jump has already backed out, so I'm feeling excited that I'm 'tougher' I guess. Anyway, any advice on AFF jumps or tips on a first jump would be much appreciated. Seeya.
