Tandem Instructor Poll: (Intentional) Flips On Exit
skydiveacapulco replied to slotperfect's topic in Instructors
i try not to do flips, to me it's important to get stable, get the drogue out no posing no showing off just be safe, blue sky sand and sun. -
hi here is a question on the vector harness, what is the position of the leg straps and lower connectors, i have seen some harnessing were the leg strap is almost fully extended (avarage size person) and the comfy pads are not touching. personaly i prefer to have the side conectors on the hip and the leg straps and comfy pads that go under the buckles touching. this seams to be the best for me (5ft 2in) regardless of the size of my passengers!. i hope i have described this well enough! any ideas? blue skies blue sky sand and sun.

there are several factors involved the finances of the student. the drop zones policies. the training system being used. and the dzo, s own oppinion. there are good and bad points to every system, the trick is to identify them. then make a knowledgeble decision. example aff costs approx $1800 for the complete course, thats a big pay out in one go, were as iad or instructor assisted deployment (i dont like this but just a personal oppinion) is paid by the jump. at say$40 per jump. now by the time you get your license you pay the same. aff is faster you learn the same skills statick line takes longer but you learn more about the canopy. me i like aff as your done in a few days (but you sill need to learn canopy survival. i like statick line as you learn canopy survival and are constantly made to practice your drills. you pays your monie and takes your chances. ps i only teach AFF know! its better see dzo oppinion. i might be wrong but oppinions are like ah everybody has one. blue sky sand and sun.

Dangerous Practices at a Florida DZ
skydiveacapulco replied to JulianS's topic in Safety and Training
I know of a couple of tandems that landed at the wrong airport because the pilot pushed the wrong button on his GPS. dont know aabout you but when on tandem i dont jump if i cant see ground or know were i am! you did right for you made a desicion and stuck with it. as we can see from other posts it is not always unsafe just unwise if you dont think you have the experiene to handle it so its not some much a safety factore as a desision and information factore ie did you know the cloud base, before boarding, did you wear a life jacket? btw anybody know were i can get wrist mounting life jackets i think they are called aquaboys? blue skies keep thinking beat me spank me hit me flame me i like it. -
just a thought. welcome back skydiving is ment to be fun jump from a plane enjoy it but work on survival couple of tpps alt awerness simple turn or two then pull. next work on the canopy and your awerness, dont worry about the size (size dosnt matter

Tandem Instructor Poll: Instructor Jumpsuits
skydiveacapulco replied to slotperfect's topic in Instructors
its damn hor hear but no matter what the temp i wear a home made baggy simmilar to freefly being 5,2 dont help i think all my passengers are bigger than me!. it,s not just flying over them either, that extra grab you get makes all the diffrence on the video. the cam guys realy appriciate it. so i dont mind the extra bit of sweat. then again when i jump camera the tand master can wear what ever makes him feel good, (er i mean confident i think) it,s my job to be there not dictate the fashion i could be making his job harder. blue sky sand and sun. -
hi getting back to the subject. intentional cutaways. i have a lot of them logged during the making af a training video we re created malfunctions to record on video, i have to say that it was not fun. i dont have as much experience as some guys out there but i would not recomend doing it unless you know exactly what you are doing. the flip side is that i think i understand more know the nature of a malfunction, and how to deal with it, it,s made me a more confident skydiver, and a lot more careful with my gear. blue skies blue sky sand and sun.

re the last 3 posts great points totaly agrea, as a dzo, camera man tandemmaster and toilet cleaner, the finnal decision is must and should allways lie with the tandemmaster. not to be harsh, i think my life and body parts are safer if i can control the situation and am aware of who is with me, that goes for tandem and video, you have to jump safe, to make this a sport. not a demolition darby. if sombody i dont know wants to follow my tandem ask listen learn, get the rating. it would be sad if we had to go back to only tandemmasters allowed to chase becouse of one incident. tandems have risks reduce them and they are fun and safe. beat me spank me flame me hit me i like it. blue sky sand and sun. -

I have to say, I have chased numerous tandems. it,s good to chase tandems and we are not saying dont we are saying the greatest risk and therefore the greatest respocibliity is with the tandemmaster. so therefore he must be the one to make the desision. I do not have a tandem rating, AFF rating nor am I a videot. At my DZ, and at other small-time DZ's I have jumped at, tandems are the majority of business. I probably have as much experience chasing tandems it,s not a question of experience, i have about 2000 tandems and somwere in the region of 3000 video jumps, if a tandem master told me not to chase him ok i would not, there could be a lot of reasons for it, the student is nervous, the students shape and size make them a difficult tandem to do, the tandemmaster just wants to keep it simple, many reasons, But for someone to say no to me if I brought the business and knowing my jump experience and having the logbook to back it up seems kind of prejudice. it is prejudicial but the bottom line is safety first. if you like tandems why not work towards the rating? i dont mean to sound harsh or rude but once you understand the risk factors involved perhaps we can change your mind?. If it is a boogie that you are TM at (like couch freaks, labor day, Iowa), or at my DZ, I feel that I should be allowed to accompany my guest i dont understand the diffrences in location? a tandem is the same were ever you go the risk is the same. fine, I agree with your rules. the desision is usualy there for safety we allready suffer enough from injury in the sport why increase the pottential for more things to go wrong?. But to say that it is all the time, every time, if you don't know someone, they aren't going, seems kind of judgmental, don't you think? even if i know sombody i have been known to ask them to stay back, give me my space to do my job. it takes just 1 seconds inatention to realy do some damage. in fact i think i have never had one complaint about that, they respect my safety and are usualy very helpfull. Note: no personal attacks meant, just put yourself in the chasers' shoes. absolutly we do and we agrea with you on some of your points but at the end of the day i could not say to another tandemmaster i will follow you out it has to be his decision. blue skies and soft docks flame me beet me spank me i like it! blue sky sand and sun. -
interesting question to swoop in dock on an unstable tandem, pull the droge releaces or pull the cutaway and reserve handle? just thinking about my own reserve procedures. drogue in tow, drogue entanglment, lots of things for the tandem master to think about. would i like somebody to save my life to right. at the expence of his her life dont know if i could live with that but interesting question. blue sky sand and sun.

not offten i replie to a post but in for a penny. as a tandem master my only responcibility is for my passenger, it,s my job to s.e.l the sport. safety. enjoyment learning i try to work with the same cammera man all the time we become a team we understand each other. if i do have an observer or sombody who wants to follow the tandem first i have to understand he wants to and is going to pay for that so i cant kill his enthusiasm, then i have (as the tandem master, the one taking the biggest risk) to decide if i want him near me if he is skilled enough if i can control the just that little bit more passenger and on that day wether i want to. (heck some times you just want to do the jump with no frills) if i have even the slightest dought then no way, but how to deal with the guy, we have a couple of tricks you can always ghost the guy (just tell the cam guy first )of the plane a few seconds before you go. even if he floats up he will be nowere near the drouge on deployment and comming up is a lot safer than going to a sit and comming down. option two ask the guy to follow out 5 seconds later still nowere near you on drouge (i dont like this for the obviouse reason) opption 3 just say no hurt feeling hurt for a day broken necks last a liftime. appologise afterwords and buy him a beer but at least he had the chance, disshonest but the point is safety first stay alive to jump again. tandems are a great way of introducing people to the sport god nows we need more! but they have to be done saftly or not at all. flame me beet me hurt me spank me i like it blue sky sand and sun. -
wanted door for cessna 182 (1973)
skydiveacapulco replied to skydiveacapulco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hi there. i am looking for a door for a cessna 182 (1973) anybody help me with info i would be greatfull. please email skydiveacapulco@yahoo.ca blue skies blue sky sand and sun. -
hi ther yep its a comon prob that you can fix the first thing is to think 4 way fly a set slot with your back to the sun look at the subject only to get the shadow position, then move, now you fly your slot. depending on what you want to video you are either in front and down a little low (tandem) over the top looking through and at the ground (remember fly your slot its like fs just no hands to hold) or in front on level (aff ect). the trick i use is not so much flying the camera or your head but your body has to make the moves smoothly. if you put your body were you need to be then hold that position you will find it a lot easyer try to fucos on somthing beyond the subject to get a good perspective. blue sky sand and sun.
