This is very true. It makes people like me unhappy (and also makes people like that complaining woman unhappy for different reasons) but we're hardly the target audience. I'm going to hate that sort of radio station anyway. Now we just hate the station even more but they don't care. Once an audience member is lost, you may as well piss them off further. Or ruin their day. Or kill them. It's all the same. It's a fascinating phenomenon that advertisements that annoy or sometimes even severely damage innocent bystanders can be considered successful. Billboards and email spam both fit that description. Anyone that isn't giving you money is irrelevant. So do whatever you like to them at will. Broadcast as much irritation as you like. Everybody has to absorb it and just live with the constant low-grade ulcer for your profit. What a species! I guess it's an aspect of the free market. If you want things like this to go away, vote with your dollars/patronage/etc, not thru the legal system. Capitalism is neither immoral or moral--it just is. I like both kinds of entertainment, "fine arts" as well as what some may term shite. Different fare depending on your tastes. It's not bad or good, as that assumes that one is superior to the other, which is impossible to define. Kinda like I was listening to opera on PBS last nite while I was looking at porn on the net?

The report said the top 10 most sleep-deprived professions are: Company directors (averaging 5.9 hours of sleep a night) Ambulance crew/paramedics (6 hours) Tradesmen (6 hours) Leisure and hospitality workers (6 hours) Police officers (6.1 hours) Factory workers (6.2 hours) Nurses (6.3 hours) Engineers (6.3 hours) Doctors (6.4 hours) Civil servants (6.4 hours). They didn't admit it. He's calling it a measure of performance. 16 tickets sounds like nothing compared to what the NYC Department of Traffic have to write. Their activity is to write 40 summonses per day. Just because cops have to generate activity per month does not make them bad guys. This is a job. They're required to generate activity. They only do as they are told. If this upsets you, you should take it up with your mayor. Or you can find out who in the city/town office or state office sets the goal for ticket revenue. The other side of the coin is these traffic summonses also help to cut down on drivers who talk on their cell phone with no hands free head set, drivers who drive over the speed limit and drunk drivers. As much as you probably don't believe it but it creates awareness for those that don't obey traffic laws. What does that help do for you? It probably saves lives and prevents future car accidents. Not too many people see that big picture. How bout all the cops I'm behind that whip in and out of traffic, speed, no turn signals etc. Who polices them? And on the red light subject. Last job in the mornings I'd drive a strech of say 7-8 miles at 5 in the morning. Outta 25+ signals I'd hit 80% red on any givin morning w/ no cars at all coming the other direction at a min. or two 2 per sit. Drive to work was 28 miles. Took me 1 hr every day even w/ the backroads in the desert where I could haulass. I quit that job cause of that bullshit. New rules. Good or bad? http://www.wired.com/politics/onlinerights/news/2007/05/army_bloggers> "The U.S. Army has ordered soldiers to stop posting to blogs or sending personal e-mail messages, without first clearing the content with a superior officer, Wired News has learned. The directive, issued April 19, is the sharpest restriction on troops' online activities since the start of the Iraq war. And it could mean the end of military blogs, observers say." I believe that studies have shown that CHL holders are 5 to 15 times less likely to commit felony offenses than the general population, depending on the state. 8 out of 10 surveys prove that people quoting statistics are talking out of their arses I'll be damed. You just proved it LOL. Good catch! I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

From the New Times today. This reeks of insider trading> "There were at least some investors who may not have been caught unaware by the offer. On Monday, contracts for options to buy Dow Jones shares jumped to 4,335, well over the typical daily volume of 309, according to a report by Bloomberg News. Nearly 44 million Dow Jones shares were traded yesterday, versus less than 1.2 million the day before, which could be a sign that many shares were bought by hedge funds and other speculators betting that the company will be sold, and who could agitate for a deal if the Bancroft family rebuffs the offer.
