It was six men of Indostan To learning much inclined, Who went to see the Elephant (Though all of them were blind), That each by observation Might satisfy his mind The First approached the Elephant, And happening to fall Against his broad and sturdy side, At once began to bawl: “God bless me! but the Elephant Is very like a wall!” The Second, feeling of the tusk, Cried, “Ho! what have we here So very round and smooth and sharp? To me ’tis mighty clear This wonder of an Elephant Is very like a spear!” The Third approached the animal, And happening to take The squirming trunk within his hands, Thus boldly up and spake: “I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant Is very like a snake!” The Fourth reached out an eager hand, And felt about the knee. “What most this wondrous beast is like Is mighty plain,” quoth he; “ ‘Tis clear enough the Elephant Is very like a tree!” The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear, Said: “E’en the blindest man Can tell what this resembles most; Deny the fact who can This marvel of an Elephant Is very like a fan!” The Sixth no sooner had begun About the beast to grope, Than, seizing on the swinging tail That fell within his scope, “I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant Is very like a rope!” And so these men of Indostan Disputed loud and long, Each in his own opinion Exceeding stiff and strong, Though each was partly in the right, And all were in the wrong! Moral: So oft in theologic wars, The disputants, I ween, Rail on in utter ignorance Of what each other mean, And prate about an Elephant Not one of them has seen!

Why are there so many homes for battered women? Because they just don’t fucking listen!! Scientists have discovered a food that diminishes a woman’s sex drive by 90%. It’s called a Wedding Cake. Why do rednecks like to do it doggie style? So they can both watch Nascar. Why do women wear make-up and perfume? Because they’re ugly and they stink. Why do they call the area between a woman’s hips and chest a waist? Because you could fit at least two more pairs of tits there! What do you call a first-time offender in Saudi Arabia? Lefty! Why do Scotsmen wear kilts? Sheep can hear a zipper a mile away. Two families move from Iraq to America. When they arrive, the fathers make each other a bet that in a year’s time, whichever family has become more American will win. A year later when they meet again, the first guy says, “My son plays baseball, I had McDonald’s for breakfast and I’m on my way to pick up a case of Bud for tonight. How about you?” The second guy says, “Fuck you, towel-head!” and the one guarenteed to offend!! Why did God create the yeast infection? So women could know what it’s like living with an irritating cunt too! --------------------

LOL, reminds me of another one. They say 7 out of 10 women in this country are battered. And to think...I've been eating mine plain all along. What's the first thing a woman does when she gets out of the battered women's shelter? The dishes, if she knows what's good for her!

That's cool. A good way to keep people from hosting your images on their webpage. There is probably a pretty simple script or methode to do that. ----------------

I'd have a problem with that if it was in a science class. If they. wanted to do that in religious education then fine but faith shouldn't be taught in a serious subject. repost We know evolution exists. Anyone who breds dogs will tell you that, but to say that we are the product of natural selection that stated with a few chain of proteins requires the faith of Job. That makes Darwinism a religion. Science and God are not mutually exclusive of each other. Science is the study of the physical universe. It requires repeated tests and experiments to prove a theory. Religion is the study of God, and how HE relates to our existance in the universe. Science does not know even if basic life can be created out of dead matter let alone prove an uninterrupted chain of evolution (survival of the fittest) resulted in what we experiance today. It is possible;I believe damn likely; that evolution is a tool used by God. One thing is for sure no-one knows. That is where faith come in. People who say they know are idiots. Does a acorn evolve into a oak. Does a 12year old evolve into a teenager. Or could all this part of a grand scheme we all way to ignorant to even begin to understand. Athiests like to look at the parable of 'the seven days' and 'great flood as proof that the bible is full of shit. The big bang is beyond even our best scientists. Will the universe continue to expand or will gravity pull it all back into the big crunch. What happenes then and how in Sam Hell does that matter to us today. The bible; which is compilation of ancient writings, is crammed full of wisdom that is very pertinant today. There are mysteries we don't even know we don't know. When you expain 'Where did i come' from to your child, do you explain X&Y chromosones or do you use an analogy that he will understand? The glorious thing is that Bible contains analogies that are still relative today. --------------------

Free states and slave states before the civil war
mardigrasbob replied to Phlip's topic in Speakers Corner
I've said it before and I'll say it again... it's a sad, sad day when people actually believe that politicians should be our moral compass. We should be their moral compass. Maybe then we will get some decent leaders for a change. I am not that old, but I remember when 'shacking up' was immoral. Our society is on a moral slide; what today seems off-limits will be the norm for tomorrow. That's cool if you are a slug, but if want to raise heathly happy children? It is a serious threat. ------------------------ -
Free states and slave states before the civil war
mardigrasbob replied to Phlip's topic in Speakers Corner
Um, I was thinking more of homosexuals, and those who wish to have abortions. I want to go on record! I am totally opposed to homosexual abortions! Christians for the most part are loving and caring people who do not hate anyone. Sure there are extremists in every religion but to call people, who work all week and spend an hour on Sunday morning trying to be more rightous, Taliban is either ignorant, uninformed or malicious. Abortion and homosexuality are "not even in the same ballpark". Many caring people are devastated by the number of babies being snuffed out everyday(1,370,000 annually in the U.S.) and feel that America will be punished by God. Many christians also believe that homosexuality is an abonination and can destroy our culture. These two points of view are basic to Christian values and are not part of some hateful agenda. ---------------- -

Until you have gained enough experience as a canopy pilot; stay with a fairly doscile canopy, 1:1 Do not be in a hurry! Today more parachutists are being seriously injured or even killed by downsizing too soon. I started out on big student mantas 260++, after 20 or so jumps I bought a Triathlon 190- 0.9:1 with no problem. I am still flying that chute and will occasionally demo a 160. I am somewhat of a pussy when it comes to hot landings, but my disapline is R.W. and the parachute is mearly a way to get to the ground safely after the formations. Many new jumpers are anxious to perform swoops and show off their skills; I cringe everytime I see some 100 jump wonder get ohs and ahhs from the crowd; Sadly to say " I seen them come and go." Hyper-eliptical and crossbraced canopys are the new thing but should be jumped by only the most skilled! ---------------

What brand of ice cream is Michael Moore drowning his sorrows in?

Crow? I know this is a repost but it's appropriate. Michael Moore's first attempt at dating. --------------------------- -
Bring me the little 'burdens' I'll raise them. Rape and incest is always the mantra of the pro-choice er I mean pro-abortion lobby. Less than .001% are in that category. Life of the mother: self defense is a basic right. Nearly all abortions are for the convenience of the mother. The best way to stop this; is to instill high morals in our children, the ones we haven't aborted already. It is the government's job to promote morals, notice I didn't say religion. A moral society is a just society. Abortion Statistics - Decisions to Have an Abortion (U.S.) 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing. 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby. 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child. 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy.) 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career. 7.9% of women want no (more) children. 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health. 2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health. womensissues.about.com/cs/abortionstats/a/aaabortionstats.htm -----------

BINGO We have a winner! There are thousands of childless couples who would give anything to have a child of their own. In California a mother can leave their unwanted child at a hospital or fire station no questions asked. -----------

A man who doesn't see or support his child is not a man he is a pig. The damage to the child is immeasurable and the father also misses out on the most rewarding time of his life. The courts are and should make the absent fathers pay. It is strictly a moral isuue in my mind. It is the government's obligation to its citizens to set a high moral standard. That means opposing uncommitted sex and protecting the family. It may sound old fashioned but the alternative would mean a complete disentegration of our value system. --------------

Read what Lizzieb wrote above. I support her with her view that it's easy for a man to automatically dismiss what's going on with the woman's life and her body. You obviously think otherwise and I'd be willing to bet that you and I differ greatly in our religious (or lack thereof in my case) views. Start debating abortion if you want. That wasn't the motivation for me starting this thread. This thread was started to see what sort of percentage of the people want to see ROVE versus WADE changed and who they voted for. Okay? First off it's Roe as in Jane Roe a.k.a.Norma McCorvey. Second, what?; men don't have a right to decide what happens to their child? In 1983 a baby that I fathered was terminated with out my knowedge, at the time I was relieved. The baby would now be approaching its 21st birthday. Diapers, lighters and tampons are diposable not babies. When a woman is pregnant there is another body involved, the baby will have their little body destroyed in the abortion. Yes women do have a right to their bodies, and so should the unborn child. This is a fight that will never end, but it is not about women or their rights, it is about whether the government should condone the slaughter of the unborn. I concede that abortions will continue legal or not and that bothers me. www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/01/21/mccorvey.interview/
