  1. Just remember The end of summer will come anyway. It won't care if you've lost all the weight or gained. Even if you've run out of momentum and only lost a few pounds so you didn't get to jump when you hoped, it's still a few pounds closer than you were and that means a few days closer to jumping than you will be if you give up you gain it back.... Shorry if that wasn' very clear...hic.......or inspirashnal.........it never worked for me.....but it must've worked for somebody because it makeshsense.....well normally.....hang in there! (
  2. Whew And now we get to foot the bill for his appeal too.......
  3. Of course they would love you! You just paid $200+ to do a solo jump!
  4. I think I'll put this url in my favourites so I can whip it out as necessary. (Edited to clarify:) It's not me that needs it ...I never get offended... It's so that I can post it when someone else gets going!
  5. I was in Meyerthorpe a few months ago for a wedding of a very good friend of mine who grew up there. Every resident of that town – including the RCMP - knew all about this freak. Some of the stories she told me were so outlandish I would’ve found them hilarious – before this happened. She said used feel quite safe snapping back at this lecher because she had lots of older cousins in town “to protect” her…. One of them is on the RCMP. Her family and many friends still live there and they have been telling a very different story than the mangled bits and pieces I’ve tried not to pick up from the media. (It’s almost a relief to know that it’s not just a conspiracy against us skydivers.) I wasn't going to say anything here but on Saturday I was a victim of some total freak in a road rage incident. (Thanks to a cell phone & 911 all is good) The OPP has a whole bunch of things they can charge him with. Now that all is fine and I have a funny story to tell I wonder if it was just some guy that had a REALLY bad day who just snapped and now things are going to get worse for him. If that's the case I'm not going to pursue things. But from I saw I couldn't help but think of this Meyerthorp creep and if I see a similar pattern I will get very involved! This tragedy has very little to do with grow ops or chop shops. It’s more about the way our “justice” system has evolved through the ceaseless efforts of pedantic “human rights” lawyers and bleeding heart activists to protect the legal rights of an individual (menace) over the basic needs of a community to live in peace and comfort. In a truly just society this maniac would’ve been euthanized 20 years ago. I wonder what life would be like if a person simply dropped dead or evaporated once they’ve willfully caused more misery in the world than they can possibly make up for in the time they would’ve had remaining by spreading joy. This asshole probably would’ve been stillborn.
  6. Oh! There is a wicked picture out of the back of one of the four herc's that were in formation for the world record in Thailand. If you wait I can see if I can find it Here it is. (I already PM'd you but I thought I'd share) http://www.parashoot.nl/htm/projects/worldteam/wt2004/pix/0921tailgatekorat.jpg There are a lot of cool pic's that were taken by some of the photographers at the event. Go to http://www.theworldteam.com/camerateam/camerateam.htm if anyone feel like browsing or PM me and I can make some recommendations.
  7. In answer to your question: Anyone would have be NUTS to hang around ANYWHERE where they got slammed like this guy did! He may not have handled things as well as you all do when you’re disappointed and frustrated but I’m having a hell of a time reading as much between the lines of his post as you guys are. He was asked to report back on how level 1 went (different thread) and he had strong feelings on the matter so he answered the question honestly…..or did he?.... Poor bastard: How could he know that he picked the only highly skilled, respected and admired instructor in the world (who couldn’t even rub Ebenezer Scrouge the wrong way if she tried!) to be the un-named villain in his sorry tail of woe that he was sure would win over the hearts of the super-cool people on dz.com. So just for shits and giggles lets try a couple of visualization exercises. The first one is to try and come up with a scenario that might allow you to see where the hell he's coming from then perhaps how he might feel about some of your responses: and see if we can figure out why he thought it might work #1 Try to imagine you finally talked someone you really care about (like your kind hearted little brother, your opinionated but jolly father, your hilarious-but-sometimes-emotional favourite aunt or your laid-back-but-scared-shitless best friend) into coming out to do AFF. Your good friend, who is the best and most well-liked instructor at your DZ (who happens to be having issues at home but you’d never know it!) is teaching level 1. After the ground school part (and in front of all your skydiving buddies who are hanging out waiting for the winds to die down) they say what MM said in response to someone asking how it’s going. You know they wouldn’t bullshit yet how could it be true? Remember, this is you’re friend/aunt/dad/brother on the receiving end of the following (but without me beaking off in between) • “questions were met with open contempt and derision.” (says the person you care about) • Try to ask better questions. (So much for “there’s no such thing as a stupid question”) • [iI don't know anyone at that DZ and I don't know you. But the feeling I get from your posts is that you got smart-mouth and maybe tried to bait the instructor and got a case of the ass when she was better at then you • …sincerely doubt that the instructor in question was actually rude - knowing her it seems inconceivable to me unless someone was disrepectful of her first • IMHO (and pretty unbiased since I don't even jump there on regular basis anymore)…..I cannot believe someone posts such a BS about this instructor. (Yep...that's an unbiased opinion if I ever heard one! It seems there's a lot of that going on) • First, the complain leaves a false impression about the instructor in question (and I am absolutely sure that those who know this instructor will all agree that the remarks made by original poster have nothing to do with reality). (Did someone just get accused of lying by someone who wasn't there to know the truth?) • Second, the post delivers a wrong message to new students. Most of us pay to jump but regardless the amount of money we spend we all play by rules (Rules? What rules?) • Be warned, since you made a public announcement about your disappointment in one DZ without facts to back your statement (how does one express an opinion as a fact?) you may have a hard time finding a place that will take your money (Well if that doesn’t deliver the wrong message we just might have to start encouraging people to jump or we’ll have no one to play with!) • …I think someone just got their feelings hurt because they couldn't jump. (Oh yeah, I loved the weather tangent some of you picked up on!) OK, now here's one that might be tricky to grasp. Try to visualize what he might see if he was trying to visualize where some of you were coming from #2 Picture yourself posting about the bad experience you had when you jumped (once) at some DZ you checked out on your way through some town. It started with a bumpy ride to altitude followed by a really hard knock in freefall then you were taken out on the ground by a swooper just after you landed your reserve which you used because of the lineover you had. “And to top it all off,” you write “I head to the pub for the half price chicken wing special and they had already run out!!! And I like wings so much I would’ve paid the FULL price!” Wouldn’t you be a little freaked out if people started said stuff like: • you're giving a false impression of the pilot’s flying abilities • it’s you’re lack of flying skills that caused the freefall collision because you should’ve gotten out of the way • that swooper happens to be one of the best most respected swoopers on the DZ. You must've not been looking and walked in front of him because you weren't looking • if you don’t want a line over, pack the parachute yourself (who said you didn’t?) Then they start in with: • Your feelings are hurt because you didn’t get chicken wings so you slam the DZ!? • I can tell by your post that you actually showed up after the special was over. Most people love the wings but regardless of the amount you would've paid you have to play by the rules and get there during the special. Don’t go accusing the cook - who we all agree has never run out of the special before - of not doing his job properly! • Be warned, since you went public with this unsubstantiated complaint, no DZ pub will ever serve you chicken wings again!...Unless you do the hokey pokey and bring some really good hot sauce.
  8. I'm new to skydiving! And I want to do style!!! I find swoop competitions boring I think this thread is boring too (by Breezejunky) Making people laugh: it's a talent of mine (by Breezjunky) How to recognize the signs so you never overstay your welcome (By Breezejunky) I had too much attention as a child (Breezejunky) I've always understood post whoring but can't see myself ever doing it though I know how! But before I go I just want to say thank you to dz.com for keeping me motivated tonight so I could get all caught up here at work.....
  9. The easy & honest answer to "Does this make me look fat?"
  10. My ex really should've gotten more. It's so much fun running out of gas late at night! I know WAY too many inside jokes (by Breezejunky) Hitch hikers always smell so nice!
  11. Canadian winters just aren't long enough! I wish more people farted in the plane Why playing on the net is a good idea when you're so swamped at work you've decided to stay late to get caught up even though you had to miss a class you love to do it!.......... (Oops, got a little carried away there I think...)
  12. Why do skydivers always hide from video cameras?
  13. Why boiled liver is better than ice cream The Dirt Devil is your friend There are too many cute girls at my DZ
  14. Guilty! I've faked it a few times. But never when I'm with someone else!
  15. Hey RR Nice job, I'm happy for you! (even if you do keep beating me)
  16. OK, I'm back Last Friday I broke the barrier! But I wanted to go out and buy a better scale before I posted. I know that's probably over the top as it's just a bloody number but it's one I don't ever remember seeing! I remember a family trip when I was in grade 5, before my parents separated, when I stepped on this big baggage scale in Bimini and the scale said 130 - the same as my mother....the next one I remember is entering grade 7 at over 200 and I've never seen below 170 since....(I don't care what it says on my waiver!) Then I got so busy at work & forgot about it all until way later when the post was two pages back & I was too shy too bring it forward. Then pretty damn much the same thing happened yesterday but someone else bumped it so here I am! ANYway, I'm still a little leary of the number because I'm still working stupid hours & haven't been exercising much so I'm afraid of the "muscle & not fat" thing but my clothes are looking a lot different on me! So! Drum roll please! (sheesh, talk about tooting my own horn!) 185/168/160/17 Now I'm going to haul my lazy ass out of bed (it's past 11am but I needed to lounge) and hit the stairclimber! So glad you guys are keeping this up!
  17. Way to go girl! Let's show'em how it's done!
  18. Yay! 185/170/160 (and yes, I checked the setting was at zero this time) OK now......once again I'm at my barrier weight of 170 I've been here before but I haven't, in my adult life, been below! The thing that kind of sucks is that this week's loss was probably more muscle than fat as I've been working 10 - 16 hour days lately (including weekends) so I've been having trouble keeping up with the exercise. So next week, if I can get back to my workout routine I expect to hold or even gain one.... But 160 - here I come baby!
