  1. Me and a couple of friends are thinking of going to Empuriabrava in January sometime. Does anybody know what the local weather is like that time of year - as we may have to put off going until later if it is not so good.
  2. I went to Aerokart windtunnel last week with a couple of friends. It was very worthwhile for us. The documentation i received stated that we all needed either a medical certificate / letter saying that we are fit to jump OR to show them our current (2004) skydiving licence. In actual fact, they didn't ask to see any of the above when we turned up. As what has been said - there is nothing to do in the town - a few restaurants (most that close by 9pm) There is two others that stay open until about 11pm, but there are no bars (you have to eat to drink) Aerokart is open until 12pm (most nights?) and you can get alcohol there until close. However, if you are planning on staying there for a few days, i would certainley reccomend staying in Paris centre (approx 20 min train ride from nearest station - which is about 20 min walk) or traveling to paris. If you miss the last train back then you can get a taxi for approx 25 euro. Have fun.
  3. I was considering going to Orlando, but as i am not planning on booking much time, it is cheaper to travel to France: The price seems to be 54 euro per 2.5 min minutes (48 + 6 for coach). I am looking at doing 6 sessions: 15 minutes. The above price is based on buying a membership card, which lasts for a year for 20 euro (54*6) + 20 = 344 euro, which is approx £230 Due to travel from London to Paris being a lot cheaper then a flight from London to Orlando, it does work out quite a bit cheaper this way, as my girlfriend wants to come along.
  4. I am looking to do some tunnel time in Paris in the next month or so. (Orlando is a bit far, as in the UK) I started AFF last year and am now on the consolodation jumps. However, because i haven't jumped for a while i thought that a little tunnel time would be good - to sort out my annoying problem of unwanted turns and to regain some confidence, as it has been almost a year. I am only looking to do about 6 blocks of 2.5 minutes with a coach. Probably over two days or so, to make sure i don't get tired. I will basically be working on starting and stopping turns (using arms). Can you think of anything else that i should be concentrating on while there? I have not got any of my own gear yet, so i need to know if i can rent the gear there (jumpsuit, goggles, gloves) Anybody been here who can tell me anything i might need to know? Any advise or comments would be great.
  5. I completed my AFF 2 months ago - no major problems with that (not being able to stop turns a couple of times and being nervous in the plane). The real problem now is that i haven't jumped for 2 month (due to illness, weather, work and nerves) Now it has been so long since i last jumped, everytime i think of going to the dropzone i feel nervous and think of reasons why i should put it off until another time. I really want to get back up in the air, but am finding it difficuilt to do it - one time when i went to the dropzone to do a consolidation jump i was hoping for wind (and as it turned out it was too windy to jump) - now that is a bad way to be in! When i go back to the dropzone i do intend to do a coach jump - just for the reassurance of an instructor being with me the first time back. Has anybody else had such a case of nerves? Can anybody offer me some advice to help me get back up?
