  1. First of all we are not nearly at the height of our tax bracket, my wife plans to work for at least another ten years (she loves what she does). Given the trajectory of her career it would not be unreasonable for her to make an additional 50%. Also when the Trump tax cuts expire our tax burden will increase significantly. BTW it’s not what Democrats might do it’s what they say they will do.
  2. What do you think I meant when I said “the problem with progressivism is too much is never enough” With respect to trans-women, my tongue was planted firmly in my cheek. Given my stated position on the matter on this forum, you should have realized that.
  3. You are overthinking this Wendy, it’s so simple a kindergartener understands. BTW I am not talking about intersex traits, I am referring to the notion that a man can wake up one day decide he is a she and crush the ladies in athletics and some folks call that progress.
  4. All of those countries are overwhelmingly white. Isn’t that a bit racist?
  5. https://www.thefp.com/p/npr-editor-how-npr-lost-americas-trust “It’s true NPR has always had a liberal bent, but during most of my tenure here, an open-minded, curious culture prevailed. We were nerdy, but not knee-jerk, activist, or scolding. In recent years, however, that has changed. Today, those who listen to NPR or read its coverage online find something different: the distilled worldview of a very small segment of the U.S. population… There’s an unspoken consensus about the stories we should pursue and how they should be framed. It’s frictionless—one story after another about instances of supposed racism, transphobia, signs of the climate apocalypse, Israel doing something bad, and the dire threat of Republican policies. It’s almost like an assembly line.”… Our news audience doesn’t come close to reflecting America. It’s overwhelmingly white and progressive, and clustered around coastal cities and college towns.“ I guess I am one of the small minority of right leaning folks who listen to NPR and I have to say I have made the same observation. If not for queer, climate change and and all things urban, aka black (which is ironic given only six percent of the audience is black) there would be radio silence for 75% of the day. BTW in NPR’s Washington headquarters there are 80+ registered Democrats and exactly ZERO Republicans. So much for diversity.
  6. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/volkswagen-electric-car-sales-plunge-122915038.html “Sales of Volkswagen electric cars have plunged by almost a quarter in Europe as demand for battery-powered vehicles stalls and buyers return to petrol.” Doesn’t really fit into the “great transition” narrative now does it?
  7. “Last week, Tesla reported a significant decline in car sales over the first three months of 2024. The company delivered 387,000 cars over that period, marking a 20% decline from the previous quarter and an 8% decline year-over-year, an earnings report showed. The results fell well short of Wall Street expectations.” https://abcnews.go.com/Business/tesla-stock-plummeted-year-company-recover/story?id=109032113 I believe I still have one year left on my Tesla bankruptcy prediction
  8. Since you missed my point (entirely), I will spell it out for you and I will type slowly. My point is that there is no limiting principle on the left. That is how we went from the 19th amendment (good) to “men can give birth and women can have penises” (crazy). Society needs both the left and the right. The left to push us along and the right to tap the breaks when the insanity starts.
  9. No I have a tax guy and a fiduciary financial adviser as well. Don’t spend any bandwidth concerning yourself with my financial situation, I can assure you I am just fine. With several rentals, no mortgage above 2.9% (or paid off) two defined benefit pensions and a wife making $$$,$$$+ my biggest concern is helping coach my son’s little league team and trying not to crash my mountain bike and ending up in the ICU (again). But enough about me, how are you?
  10. Uh, I’m pretty sure that the capital gains tax is much lower than the income tax, not to mention the uncertain tax environment if the Ds ever get control of both chambers and the White House again.
  11. Race of victim Total Race of offender White Black or African American White 3,005 2,509 409 Black or African American 2,491 189 2,245 From the FBI database, your ignorance is showing
  12. Complaining about the “morbidity wealthy”, no solution just jealous bitching.
  13. According to you the “real world” isn’t working either
  14. I just gave you my argument “Just a woman with a history of using performance enhancing hormones to get an unfair advantage in sports.”
  15. But isn’t a trans woman a woman and not a man? Just a woman with a history of using performance enhancing hormones to get an unfair advantage in sports.
  16. I am aware. I sold one of my rentals to cover the conversion and to fund the kids 529.
  17. I guess my point is, if Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos were excessively taxed earlier, we would not have the Tesla, SpaceX, and Amazon that we have today. They earned it, they followed the rules of the game I don’t begrudge their success. If you are so concerned about healthcare and hunger maybe we should redirect the nearly trillion dollar being wasted on a futile attempt to control weather.
  18. Um, wrong “The earliest-known written reference to the "Santa Ana" winds appeared in the Nov. 15, 1880, edition of the Los Angeles Evening Express.”
  19. Not NOAA or IPCC “The Lahaina situation involved a wet winter followed by a dry summer, causing grasses to grow exceptionally in spring, creating dense fuels ready to burn. Similar conditions often occur in California, where winter rains lead to grass growth before drying out in summer and fall. Winds in California, like the Santa Anas in Southern California and Diablos in the Bay Area, usually happen in the fall when dry grasses increase fire risk” Did climate change cause the Santa Ana winds?
  20. Why in the world would we want to do that? There is NO evidence of an impending climate emergency, catastrophe, disaster or apocalypse. The only result of enhanced levels of CO2 is a more salubrious climate, longer growing seasons and record food production. According to the IPCC and NOAA there is no evidence of any meteorological phenomena that fall outside the range of natural variability. But I get it, you guys have a penchant for magical thinking.
  21. So 72% is invested in the economy. BTW holding cash in an inflationary environment is not a good idea.
  22. Average salary here in bodunk Pennsylvania is $50,000, no government assistance needed. (BTW you sound like a conservative pining for the good old day of brick and mortar business)
