  1. Make that five years, and a charity of someone’s choosing will be $500 richer. That said, the whole “wanna make a bet” thing is a bit juvenile I was surprised that DJL brought it up.
  2. I can't make more clear than, "I will bet $500, to the charity of your choosing, if solar power overtakes coal for energy production" Remember the context of the original post: The GND is an example of magical thinking.
  3. Yes if someone says that two plus two equals four, in a way it offends your sensibilities, it must be wrong. LOL, "PragerU are hacks but I lack the intellect to form a cogent argument against them. I must resort ad hominem attacks."

  5. You must have missed, how about, “More energy will be produced by solar power than by coal in five years”
  6. 30% increase of next to nothing is still next to nothing. Remember we are talking about the GND. For solar to do anything to “save the planet” it would have to replace fossil fuels in a meaningful way. Since everyone agrees that coal is on its way out and solar is ascendant, how about, “More energy will be produced by solar power than by coal in five years”
  7. I misspoke when I referred to growth rate, I should have just said growth. The rate of growth is often a meaningless metric.

  9. Just got done touring the North Carolina, it was absolutely amazing. 16 inch gun turrets the size of a house, steam turbines, giant reduction gears, powder and shell magazines, bridge, communications, navigation, mess galley, bakery, post office, apothecary, laboratory, dental office, surgical suite, machine shop, fire direction control center, on and on and on. I left there in awe of 1930/40s technology. I would recommend it to anyone.
  10. I’ll bet that in the next five years we will not see a catastrophic rise in, floods, droughts, hurricanes and wildfires. (No one really cares about a few hundredths of a degree of warming if it doesn’t hurt anything) 30% of energy from renewables? Your on! (The growth rate of renewables can’t even match the growth rate of global energy demand) Tesla is a failing company because it depends on government subsidizes for its existence. Take away the subsidies, add some competition and Tesla goes down the tubes. (I made the prediction of Tesla’s failure when I found out Porsche was getting into the EV game)
  11. We sure would. I say the GND is an unrealistic fantasy dreamed up by a left wing lunatic. Others say it is a blueprint for the future. If you wish to wager, name your price.(to be fair, read the paper linked to below before placing your bets) (I will also take your money with regard to floods, droughts, hurricanes and wildfires) https://www.scirp.org/html/3-2830394_94121.htm
  12. It’s part of his master plan. Buy Greenland, enhance global warming, melt the ice, gain access to trillions in nature resources and use the proceeds to pay off the debt. Of course we would rename Greenland to Trumpland.
  13. I’m in full agreement. I am continually amazed that the media ignores the fact that Trump is an idiot with the impulse control of a kindergartner. Everyone seems to think that he is some sort of Machiavellian evil genius, when, in my opined he is just a doofus.
  14. https://realmoney.thestreet.com/investing/stocks/tesla-s-main-product-isn-t-cars-it-s-subsidies-14769263 This is what I have had a problem with
  15. No big deal, I wasn’t stirring the pot (this time), I just thought he is an interesting person with some compelling arguments.
  16. To be honest, I was more interested in his views on the gender pay gap, equality of opportunity vs opportunity of outcome, hierarchy, identity politics and personal responsibility. For me, the trans thing was just an example of governmental overreach, political correctness and the excesses of the Thought Police, which he then, correctly, linked back to communism. “We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.” J Stalin
  17. I asked what the folks on SC what they thought about Peterson.
  18. Just sharing a sad reality. re·al·i·ty /rēˈalədē/ noun 1. the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them
  19. Watch the video Sundevil linked to and get back to me

  22. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-45673-3 “Higher frequencies of drought and extreme rainfall are assumed to be associated with modern climate change. But long-term studies in both hemispheres indicate extreme precipitation patterns were more common prior to the 20th and 21st centuries. Natural variability dominates precipitation patterns so thoroughly that an anthropogenic signal cannot be detected in observed records.”
  23. When I posted initially, I was referring to the 99% that was not the trans hot button issue that obviously animates many on the left.
  24. Or less often and less severe because of climate change, no one really knows.
  25. No it literally claims that is what California is bracing for.
