my parents actually dis-like my rock-climbing more than my skydiving... they actually both started the s/l progression back in the 80's and were both 1 jump away from their first freefall before my wussy brother (around 8 or 9 (or 10) at the time) got scared and made them quit! of course i bought my brother a tandem for his 29th birthday and he loves it! :) my sister actually was injured and has some troubles to this day from a bad s/l landing (her 1 and only jump) a few years ago, and that didn't affect their opinion of me jumping or their own desire to resume one bit. ------- ... -

i don't mean to hijack the thread, but i'm also a bit on the floaty side, and i've seen a little of vest vs. belt, but i haven't seen anyone mention weight pockets sewn onto their rig. i know sunpath offers this as a factory option on the javelin... any opinions on those? ------- ...

funny you should say that, because i recently flew polish air, as we're approaching the airport i hear the pilot say "jeez... look how short that runway is!" the co-pilot looks and asks, "how are we supposed to land on _that_!" "well", replys the pilot, "here's what we'll do... as soon as we land i'll hit the brakes as hard as i can, you throw on the thrust reversers... and we'll stop on a dime." so we finish our approach... the plane touches down at the very begining edge of the runway... the pilot hits the brakes... the co-pilot quickly throws on the thrust-reversers, and the whole plan shudders to a halt" as we exit the plane i hear the pilot say, "boy, that was close... this is the shortest runway i've ever seen" "yes", says the co-pilot, "but look how _wide_ it is!" ------- ...

this past weekend i just got under canopy and watched another jumper pull a ways away... i nearly pissed myself watching him pull, snivel, snivel, snivel, snivel, snivel, etc.... back on the trailer, i asked him if something happened on that opening, he stared with a blank expression for a sec... the a look of comprehension filled his eyes. he said "no way dude, this is a spectre" moral... i guess we all have different comfort levels, i got scared watching what he considered a normal opening. (note: he doesn't roll his nose, or do anything to slow down the opening at all) (edit: oh yeah... this is at the same dz as the "aad incident in colorado" occured) ------- ...
