There's also Walla Walla, Washington. Most of the places Bugs Bunny mentions actually exist.
  2. I don't post a lot but I read the hell out of the forums and of course I'm at work.
  3. Hey that's great you're a new skydiver. Finding information on the internet is very easy, but your post seems to be an ad and not a useful contribution to this forum. So expect to get flamed, sorry newbie. Sam
  4. Mike: note the attachment to the original post they're all peaches
  5. I'm just a beer drinker but harbor no negative feelings or opinions about smoking pot. It's just not my thing. Have you seen the movie "Half Baked," absolutely funny!!
  6. It seems the thread has turned into a wing loading conversation. So if you scrolled down this far to read my reply I appreciate it. Sounds like the guy (Dan) is trying to please many people at once and doing a fair job at it. I also give him credit for responding to a grievence that probably should not have been aired so quickly in a public forum. Martial arts has taught me respect and self control, my daughter has taught me patience, forgiveness and understanding. I think before five people decide not to purchase a Cobalt, you owe it to yourself to forgive the incident, respect that Dan is running a business, be patient, and understand the effort put forth by a host of people to please their customer base. Then schedule a demo and make a decision on the merits of the canopies because Dan has already proven himself to be honorable. Future Cobalt Owner, Sam
  7. Freaksister, you are hilarious! My laughing here at work is going to get me in trouble and it's your fault...
  8. You still paid for the crap job, I mean pack job?

    Yikes!

I just sent an email to the place asking if that's for real. Their reply probably won't be too nice. Sam
  10. Now that's what this site is all about: helping a perfect stranger just because we are a community of skydivers. Something to think about before the personal bashing. I would be willing to help as well. Sam
  11. I jump at Hollister, great bunch of people. We have a King Air and make 15,000 on every jump. Most skydivers are probably like me and would be totally willing to teach someone to pack. For student gear you will learn to flat pack (also called book pack) the canopy. I was static line trained and at a windy dropzone. During the downtime we practiced packing. So I've been packing since jump 6 or 7. As you get your own rig, it will take about 5 pack jobs to feel comfortable with pro packing. Sam
  12. Hey dude, sorry to hear about you having the accident. I was in the packing area talking to Jim Slaton when it happened. I thought it was a problem with a tandem (I think) that landed behind you. Plus I didn't get to meet you. It's good to hear you accepting responsibility for the accident. It seems there is an attitude across the nation of "I couldn't have done that, it's someone else's fault." (Remember the hot coffee from McDonalds incident.) We should adopt a "Bill of Responsibility" to the Constitution: You have the right to not follow directions, but not the right for legal recourse from the results of any such actions. Your attitude is very admirable. Sam
  13. I'm Sam Parduhn and work as a Mechanical Design Engineer using the CAD software Pro/Engineer. Contracting keeps me moving around: currently in Sunnyvale, CA at Northrop Grumman. And jumping at Hollister on the weekends. I plan to move back to Los Angeles (Northridge or El Segundo area) by September and jump at Perris and Elsinore.
  14. Glad to hear of S/L training still occurring. I was trained S/L out of a C182 ten years ago and think the method offers a lot of positive qualities. My friend and I attended six hours of training and were more than ready to jump. He went first being 6'2" and 220. Climbed onto the strut, looked at the jumpmaster who yelled "go", let go of the strut, looked at us and waved 'goodbye'. The JM immediately exclaimed he had never seen that before and we were all laughing hard. I climbed out, hit a hard arch and loved every second of it. My friend now has his own DZ and I am an avid jumper. Seems like any uncertainy left when I climbed out. My fear has always been falling off the step and experiencing a crotch-felt landing... Sam
  15. Hi kimmer, You will find many people outside the skydiving community don't understand that we approaching jumping with a professional manner. When I jump with someone new to me, my first concern is finding out how they "think" about skydiving and safety. Jumping with the right people is a big step in the right direction for safety. Regarding your question, you won't be able to convince anyone (outside of skydivers) that it is safe and sound. The best you can hope for is to reassure them that you have good training, good equipment, a good dive plan, and the proper attitude. Sam

    Utah DZ's

Try Skydive Salt Lake in Toole, I enjoyed jumping there when I lived in Park City. Lots of nice skydivers. Also tried Ogden Skydiving Center but didn't care for it much. Looked at Skydive Utah but passed on the "third world charm" it possessed.
