  1. When the sky was still brand new for me one of the more experienced and respected jumpers at my DZ told me something that didn't make much since at the time... "just don't forget, we spend most of our time on the ground." I didn't get it at first, but now I think I know what he was talking about. Ask yourself... What do I really want? ... I'll see you at the DZ!!! Chaps
  2. Man, you gotta drinkalot of beers to figure out the wesley snipes tandem rig bit! Windy days?
  3. Mirage has a derivative of their m3 called the m3X which I believe allows for up to a sub 100 main with a pd160r packed in there! Blue ones, Chaps
  4. thanx for the reply guys... the canopy should be here in 4-5 days so I'll know then what to do... sounds like the right idea letting the packer have at it for a while... if he can barely do it then I know I have a problem! Blue ones, Chaps
  5. it's a 160... blue ones, Chaps
  6. Well, I just ordered a new safire 189 for my new mirgae g3 the other day. It wasn't until shortly after that I learned that the new safire actually has a larger pack volume than the old safire and now I'm stuck with a canopy that, as far as I can tell, will not fit my container. The container is a m4 mirage that claimed to have a 'tight' fit for the older safire 189. What do you guys think? Longer closing loop and life is good... or am I in trouble here? Blue ones, Chaps
  7. Thanks for the reply guys... I think I will pick one up eventually... wear both the alti and the suunto to check it... seems pretty convenient! chaps
  8. Doesn't the g3 have secondary riser covers just the same?? Chaps
  9. Hello everybody. I was just wondering if anyone has flown with one of these wrist watch altimeters before and if you have... what do you think? Reliable? Worth the mega bucks? Are they only accurate top a certain altitude? Just curious. Thanks Chaps

  12. hey hey OOOOAAAAHHHH!! what's up josh? good to see you've joined dz.com! chaps
  13. thanks fergs! After hearing from many experienced packers on this site I've decided that I will give the psychopack method a chance. Everybody who uses it... not just tried it once... seems to really enjoy deployment characteristics as well as packing ease in comparison to the propack. Thanks for all the info everybody!
  14. thanks for the info skydivegirl! I got a new g3... couldn't justify the money for a new g-4... so hopefully the tight fit won't be as bad as your case... but we'll see! If it is I'll do what I can to pack it the way I know how and if that doesn't work I'll be looking to more experienced packers for alternatives like the psychopack. thanks, chaps
  15. yeah... I just also know that alot of people use the psycho b/c you roll at the end making it easier to put larger canopies in smaller bags. Thanks for the input guys... Good to hear that you have the same set up and it works fine propacking... Chaps
  16. Hello all... Well, I recently picked up a brand new mirage!! yay! I'm about to have a new pdr and a safire 189 in the container... which brings me to my question. I've only propacked a small number of times. Still pretty new to the sport... I've been informed that on the m-4 mirage the safire 189 is a 'tight' pack job. My question is wether or not I'm going to have to learn to psychopack to get this canopy in the bag? I know that psychopacking tends to be a little easier to get in the bag but I wanted to know if any other dz.commers had the same or similar set-up... and if you do do you recommend psychopacking to a newer packer? Any major drawbacks? I've been hearing about extra wear and tear from psychopacking? thanks alot, chaps
  17. thanks for making me feel welcome everybody!! Your minds have digested quite nicely... well, most of them... some of the others are making me feel a little groggy!! wait a minute... I don't feel so well!! WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME??????????????????? :) Chaps

    FREEfly Suit

You can spend a lot more money elsewhere for a suit that, at best, is only comparable to the FMC suit. The ability to completely customize (material, fit, bagginess) without changing the price is amazing when compared to some other options I have seen. I've owned one for over a year now and can vouch... they hold up. Karen makes ordering a FMC suit as easy as 1-2-3!
  20. I recently completed AFF and am now looking to start piecing a rig together... I'm considering a mirage G3 container. I have chosen this container because most of my friends at the DZ are all free-flyers and I have the desire to follow the same path and they all recommend the g3 highly... it aint hard to look at either! I guess my question is wether or not this container is generally considered OK for a novice to fly. At the Mirage website it proudly boasts that the G3 is for the serious, experienced flyer. I'm going to buy a used main and reserve and I plan to buy the rig with a cypress. After seeing the mirage and hearing input on it I can't seem to let myself accept anything else. Any thoughts? I'm just really happy to have something that excites me as much as my new hobby has.
