  1. My wife and I did our first Tandem together. It was a great experience for both of us to share and I think it was a real boost for our relationship. But...... Then I did AFF and got hooked. Now I go every weekend. She tried AFF, did 8 jumps but it just didn't really click. She is going to try again this summer and I'm not to sure it's a good idea. Some of you might remember my post from last year. She's the one who landed down wind and ate grass, then flared at 20 feet on the paved runway, then, and sit down for this one: Landed on the freeway stopping 4 lanes of traffic. I'm just worried she's going to hurt herself or someone else. But at the same time, we have some really good Instructors that have offered to work with her. So I don't know.

    Too Funny!

Man, I just read this. You have to respect this goof. It's a hell of a plan. Does the rocket or Airbag spot? It would suck to land in Iowa after amassing all those hooters.
  3. Ok, now on a serious note. I'm not all that familiar with the Golden Knights except the RW stuff I read. They do Tandems? Like civilian or other military? Do they run a military DZ? How extensive is this group?
  4. What did you just say? Helicopter jumps?
  5. Well, somebody better start mentioning this at the DZ's, I can think of about 20 jumpers who wouldn't get to the fine print. Heck, getting people to sign current waivers took half a minute. 50 initials and a signature without even reading the thing. Jumping all day for free! Cooooooooooool. Boot Camp? Like that TV show? Do I get $500,000? Does the Army jump eliptical? Man, I could swoop right over that mine field........
  6. Now hold on a second, free gear, free diving, all day........ I hate to say it but this may be the most brilliant marketing scheme ever. It's like getting a list of crackheads and telling them that if they volunteer for medical research they can have all the crack they want (in small print: while we fractionate your brain).
  7. I didn't even hit on that. We have a small clublike DZ, but last weekend we had a guy from the UK who was in the US on business.
  8. I am the only guy in a department with a bunch of older women who would backstab anyone to get up another step on the ladder. My motto is "screw 'em". I look at them and see nothing but the hearding cows. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO "Do you play golf?". No, I am still alive and prefer FUN sports. "Why do you run at lunch?". So I'm not a fat $#^@ like you. "What do you mean you do that parachute thingie". Don't even get me started. "Why do you stay in this department?" I tell them that I like it but it's really because I can get away with cutting out early to hit a couple loads during the week before sunset. That's why I keep this job.
  9. Obviously skydiving is a fantastic rush, addicting and fun as #$%^. But you know what else is really cool about it? Where else are you going to find a place where a Doctor, waitress, unemployed construction worker, truck driver, financial analyst, engineer, house painter, and a teacher spend the day diving together, then sit around a fire drinking beer and talking. No prejudice about socioeconomic status, age, race, or gender. Now that is really cool.

    fall rate

I'm with you Ric, literally falling next to you. I posted asking the same thing and got the same responses. If your doing RW you might want to try flying mantis with your arms level and hands flat. It slowed me a little and I still was able to control myself pretty good. I even tried a birdman. That was a trip, I couldn't stay down with the formation. Go baggy call your distributer and tell them the problem.
  12. Sorry, I hit a 1 instead of 2. My exit weight is 235 (well maybe at the beginning of the summer 240). I have asked around my DZ but I like to get outside opinions. My own reading has made me take a close look at the Safire. I am turning and using my toggles to build speed for my landing. My initial thought was to just get a smaller Sabre (190) but then I thought why not move to a "semi" eliptical. Thanks for the input and if any other ideas come up
  13. If she was a skydiver when you got engaged and married, then quit, is that grounds for divorce?
  14. Yeah, the first time I pulled it was AFF1 and I was heading straight towards a huge patch of uuuummmm.....errrrr..... Industrial Haze. I knew what it was and that I would just fall through it but when I got close I could picture myself getting splattered all over it so I reached and pulled. My JM's couldn't see me because they were under it and I was in it. It was pretty cool though. And yeah, I pulled that thing hard.
  15. I've put just over 100 jumps on my Sabre 210. I am loading about 1.2. I want to get something a little faster with more forward glide and a better swoop. I've watched people cut away from line twists on small eliptical canopies (and watching from under canopy is quite an eye opener). What does everyone think a good main would be? Other stuff to consider, exit weight 135, often have to jump in 10-15mph wind, want to have fun but stay safe.

    Like a Rock

Actually Sunday I tried a birdman, HOLY CRAP! I could barely get down to the formation. I ended up tracking in circles, made it down, arched like a $#@%^!* then floated back up. I managed to get in about 1000 ft before breakoff. I tried that and another baggy student suit. I'll stick with a thick baggy suit but flying that birdman was really cool. If you can get a hold of one try it. BLUE SKIES!

    Like a Rock

Man, I lifted all winter and gained 20lbs of muscle. Now I drop like a rock. I cup like crazy and my fall rate is still too fast. Anyone know of any manufactures of BIG jumpsuits that will slow me down a little. I'd rather not loose the 20lbs. I'm 6'1 with a 38 waiste large frame so XL suits are not very loose.
  18. I dig my Mirage G3. It's not the early model. I put about 100 jumps on it this winter, landing in snow, mud, water, whatever I could find just to make the winter more interesting. Still looks and feels great.
