  1. can Cypres be affected by jumping in a rubber raft ( = is there any danger of firing)???? are my beepers and alti going to work as normal??? any info appreciated thankx Karel
  2. Joe, I couldn't aggree more, year and half in sport and I have seen three jumpers hitting ground due to hookturns (one dead, two seriously injured). This is what DZ owner in Empuriabrava says: "HOOKTURNS & SWOOPING? - YOU MUST HAVE TALENT OR THOUSANDS OF JUMPS" That's what every newbie should consider. Karel
  3. thanks Bill, that's a pretty comprehensive answer is there any theoretical way of comparing changing angle of attack (risers) versus changing aerodynamic profile of wing(brakes)? I know it will vary for different canopies - just the theory behind it. planes change wing profile for landing, do they also change angle of attack? karel
  4. no wind or wind in your back - what gets you further, brakes or rear risers ??? karel
  5. Bill - thanks for article "10 things to help u survive". I use flat turn all the time and it's a lifesaver. But how about flare turn??? Once I was about to hit an obstacle on ground, I needed to avoid it and I THINK what I did was that I pulled one toggle much (but how much???) more than the other one, maybe I flared little higher too. The result was that I did avoid the obstacle but I also bounced of ground 5 feet (that's what other jumpers said) and next day my whole body hurt. I survived it by luck. So, how do you make FLARE TURN, I am going to need it, always make mistakes w/ my approach plan. Thanks & BlueSkies Karel
  6. Hi Phil, if you are still looking for PC Pal - I bought Sony PC6 Pal in September and would sell it for good price. I need NTSC because I will be doing most of my skydiving in US and want to keep things simple. Let me know if you are interested. Karel karel@dropzone.com grus@iol.cz
