Who is staying where (hotels or homes) for the Dublin Boogie?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in The Bonfire
I have waited to get my plane tickets. I am worried about getting back. Do you know if anyone is leaving on Sunday morning? I don't know what to do. -
I know, and I am not trying to judge or to say that you have to be that way. I have had a serious relationship with a person who suffered from depression, and I have been there myself. Yes, I understand, but what people fail to see sometimes is that my post or anyone's posts are not about them. I actually wrote this post for myself. I have been introspective and doing that. If someone sees themselves in my words and reads into something that I have said, there is nothing that I can do about it. For the record, I have been really, really sad about some stuff that has occurred in my life, lately, and some weird stuff that recently happened has caused even more anger and sadness in my life, but I refuse to be dragged into BS. Understand what I mean by my post? I really do like that you wrote this, though. It really validates my point that what is good for one person is not good for another. You can do and read whatever you'd like. I was down, but last night after not even flying much since May, I won first place in a tunnel competition within my division. I was shocked. It's nothing major, but it made me so happy in the midst of my sadness. Even if I hadn't won, just the happiness of being with friends made me see how beautiful life can be. I wanted to share the happiness, not tell you how to live your life. I apologize if that is how you saw my post, but that was never my intent.

Oh how cute...a luau in Sebastian! (You would make a BEAUTIFUL hula girl!) Tell us when that is Wendy.

Life doesn't have to be a dramatic soap opera. It's a beautiful and difficult song and dance with the good and the bad and the everything in-between. It is never as perfect as you would like, but there are many opportunities for happiness. In my opinion and for the most part, life is good. It's what you make of it, really. You can choose to see the glass as half empty or half full. You can create your own unhappiness and drama and hurt others, as well, or you can live and learn and grow and not worry about letting the BS bring you down. People...at some point, even the persons whom you most love, will disappoint you and hurt you, whether they mean to or not. It's best to get over it. What is fine for one person, may not be for another. Such is life. No matter how bad or how down you feel, know that just around the corner is a shining star...another truly beautiful day with so many possibilities. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise has issues. Btw, I had a great time last night in the tunnel. It's been so long, but it felt soooo good. Thanks for the smiles, people...

Hey, where can my husband complete AFF 1-8 on a weekend??
VanillaSkyGirl replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I've done coached jumps as a student at both because my home DZ closed while I was still a student, and I completely preferred Elsinore (which I first went to after going to Perris)! Honestly, in the summer, if it's on the weekend, nobody sits around waiting at Elsinore. If it's during the week, then there is definitely more of a wait, but it's still not bad at all for a student during the summer. Either place is good! -

Come down to Perris or Elsinore. If the weather is good, and you tell them your goals, they could help you to set realistic goals/plans. At Elsinore, you may be able to get more attention and catering to because it's a slightly smaller DZ, but either place has amazing instructors and lots of flying. Perris also has more planes flying during the week, if that is needeed. The tunnel is also a great tool used by both DZs, in case your husband runs into any problems. (Also, it would be nice to meet you, if you came out this way. -
I know! Thanks Rosa.

You are so adorable, Chris. Actually, Meli and I already flew together on a belly jump in Sebastian. Her smile was so radiant and full of happiness and love. That is always so nice to see in the sky. It's one of the reasons why I love flying so much...freefall smiles.

I completely agree with Mary. I COULD arch hard with no lead and keep up with larger guys (because I have as a newbie with no lead), yet it wouldn't be efficient. Besides, my RW suit with HUGE grippers, cordura booties, etc. catches a lot of drag, even though the front is nylon. I began to wear a lead belt at around 105 jumps or so, and, ever since, it has not been a problem for me to fall slow or FAST with anyone, not even during faster 4-ways when the men are wearing lead, too. Btw, I weigh about 95 lbs., but I am pretty compact. I feel that wearing lead is a given for me, and it doesn't bother me. Don't listen to people who tell you to arch hard or not wear lead. Work with a coach, and you will see that a change in your body position (mantis) and a change in gear (adding some lead to your regular gear) will let you fall with anyone. My last belly jump was with a friend much larger than myself at a boogie. See attached picture. (I wore about 12 lbs. of lead max.) I was not maxed out at all. Keeping up the fall rate is simply not an issue. It won't be for you, either, if you work on it before attempting to move on. Basics first! Good luck with all.

Chris, we could always do a hybrid on our jump, as well, if you'd prefer.

It's not as kinky as it seems...but it could be! I wouldn't mind my guy breaking a couple of spoons on my ass right now since he is still overseas, and I am feeling pretty horny. -

God, this is hilarious because I had PMed Kel about that! -
Sniff. I'm so proud. Are we gonna start issuing HUGSLUT (tm) numbers this weekend? Tell me when and where you will be out here, and I will see if some of us can meet up with you somewhere. Either the tunnel or Elsinore, is that right? Also, PM me your cell.

I am not a "Chris", but CCowden is...and he is certainly LOVED around here. Also, he is a HUGSLUT (tm).

If you're still a hottie and you still know it....

Turtle told me that I look good in this first picture, but I think that HE looks soooo good! -
The tunnel belly flying is very similar to real freefall flying, so do NOT worry about flailing, girl! Coaching at your stage will benefit you tremendously. You are too new to have developed any bad flying habits, and you will still be sharp with your body position from your student jumps. You should actually be able to do pretty well in there. Just be prepared to learn a ton! Edited for typo!

Whew! Thank you...sorry Frenchy! Others have called me Paula Abdul based on my avatars, before they ever met me, and I just thought that I had to clarify things! -
Different classes? Thank goodness! OK, I will call tomorrow, if I don't chicken out before then... Thank you so much, JP!!! Perhaps, I will see you this weekend!

I'm going to have to kick your French ass, if you are calling me Paula Abdul. I DO NOT look like her AT ALL...
