  1. LOCK 'N LOAD!!!!! Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  2. Yes, but you're forgetting, Ying is allowed to redefine words. What do Greek scholars know anyway? Ying can tell them what they REALLY meant when they developed the language... Fine Ying, you win. You're a legend in your own mind. Let's end this conversation before someone gives you a noogie, or worse yet, a swirlie... and no, neither of those has anything to do with being able to throw a spiral! Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  3. I feel like kind of an idiot now - I went home last night, checked my Glock mag, and it was loaded all the way up with CorBon. Duh... I still stand by my argument and theories though. My Rossi .357 in the night stand (home defense only, don't carry it) is loaded up with 3 Glaser, 3 hollow points. Speed loader next to it has 6 hollow points. Glock is what I carry. Hmmm, now we should get into a type of holster debate! Hee hee, I love stirring the pot! *sigh*, anyway I hate it when I screw up my own facts! Oh well, hopefully some of the points we all brought up will help others make a sound decision on ammo selection! Since we're on the topic, what type of hollow point ammo are people carrying? I know Black Talon's were big years ago, before it was pulled off the shelf. What's the newest fad in defense ammo? Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  4. Yeah, but what fun is that? Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  5. See, those reasons make sense (in the long guns). The mixed handgun mags, I just don't see the reason.*** You guys are talking about combat. I think this thread is primarily discussing home defense and concealed carry. I'm ex military, and am very familiar with unconventional warfare. I agree with both your comments regarding that scenario. In the civilian world, rules of engagement are very different than in combat, the situations are very different, and the 'rule of three's' that I mentioned don't apply to military engagements. This being the case, it's not reasonable to apply military SOP's and tactics to civilian situations... Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  6. Never said it was. But if I miss with a .40 CorBon round, it'll have no problem going through two interior walls, an exterior wall (I live in FL), the neighbors window, and still easily have enough velocity to kill. A Glaser will hopefully come apart after the first wall or two. I agree. But in a populated urban environment, this is a chance I'm personally willing to take. In Afghanistan, this round has been used when assaulting caves, to reduce ricochets. Not as effective, but the appropriate round for the environment/mission. Exactly! That's just it, with stacked rounds, you don't have to think. Fire until the threat is eliminated. Center of mass is still center of mass. This is an extremely bad idea for home defense or concealed carry, which is what I was discussing. In a high stress situation, most people can barely reload their weapon, let alone associate colors with types of ammunition. This is exactly why I don't believe in 'safety's' on pistols intended for combat/defense, either... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  7. I second your suggestion. Personally, I take it a step further and stack my mags in my (.40) Glock 23. First three rounds are Glaser Safety Slugs, remaining rounds are CorBon. Reasoning: Years ago, the FBI did a study on shootings. It's been a while (someone correct me if I'm misstating this), but essentially the study showed shootings usually involved three shots, three meters, three people, and three seconds. I chose Glaser Safety Slugs because they have incredible stopping power and stray rounds are less of a threat to others. If my target is still alive (or hanging around ) after three shots, chances are he's managed to get behind cover. That's when the CorBon's start feeding. I want rounds to go through that cover (car door, windshield, drywall, sofa, heavy leather jacket, etc.). I know many that choose FMJ rounds for maximum penetration, but I choose high velocity hollow points to somewhat reduce the risk of over penetration... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  8. LMAO!!!! Good one! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  9. Your whole argument is based on the definition of suicide, but you insist that we can't really use the commonly understood meaning of words in our argument. Without a common 'protocol', we don't have an effective method of communication. Start another thread with a better topic, and you'll probably get more bites. 'Cat Hunting' - now THAT'S and intellectually stimulating conversation! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  10. Ya know, I have this turkey fryer that I only get to use once a year at Thanksgiving.... I wonder.... Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  11. Heh heh, couldn't resist posting this one!
  12. Perhaps I should be complimenting your dedication to learning the English language. The words you're using are atypical in day to day conversation. This leads me to believe that you're spending alot of time thumbing through a thesaurus and/or dictionary. More power to you. It wasn't an attack, it was a joke... big difference. That's right, it's good to be bad! (unless you're Ying). Seriously though, it's clear you spent a significant amount of time organizing your thoughts, and trying to present a sound argument devoid of emotion. That's why seeing sarcasm mixed with such sophisticated grammer strikes me as humorous (or humerous, take your pick! ) Don't worry about not being able to throw a spiral - it's not important anyway. I honestly haven't even read most of your post Ying, nor am I going to. Alas, you captured my attention with what I thought was going to be an intellectual conversation. ADD has kicked in, and I'm bored now, sorry.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  13. Could you elaborate please? Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  14. Oh come on, don't turn this into a 'my country is better than yours' argument.... didn't I say 'females', instead of 'U.S. audience'? And no, not all females believe it either, but it was the liberal females propagating the story in an attempt to field support for the 'women are just as effective in combat as men' argument. Yes, the story was embellished, but so was the story about the rescue all being an 'act'.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  15. Gee, I don't know, maybe - 'where are you taking these supplies?' 'how often are you taking supplies there?' 'how many soldiers are there?' 'what capabilities do those soldiers have?' 'tell us about the other bases you supply!' 'what defenses do those bases have?' 'draw us a detailed picture of your base!' Interesting... both her legs were broken, so they obviously went to great lengths to transport her with them, rather than just leaving or killing her. Gee, I wonder why they would do that.... Evidence showed OJ was innocent.... I guess we know where you stand on that one too! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  16. So you're saying she didn't participate in the firefight, or are you trying to say there was no firefight???? Careful how you answer this one, females across the free world have heralded her as a hero, firing until her rifle jammed. Although the story is certainly embellished (even reports of the length of the firefight range from 15 minutes to 11 1/2 hours), I think it's reasonable to assume that at least one enemy soldier was killed. I take it you disagree? Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  17. Let me correct a couple of my own misspellings: imprefections - imperfections humorous - humerous (doh! Now THAT's irony!!!) There are probably more, but I guess I really don't care.... Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  18. I totally agree. I'd go as far as saying the doctors probably treated her better than their average patients. No disagreement there, whatsoever. Do you really believe that the friends of the Iraqi's she killed simply wisked her off to the nearest hospital immediately after her unit was over run? I don't buy it... I'm sure there was quite a bit of interrogation and 'payback' that took place. Just because there's no evidence, doesn't mean it didn't happen.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  19. Please.... this is a regime where the rape of their own citizens has been tolerated for decades. Do you really think they would even think twice about raping a prisoner of war? Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  20. Once again, you're taking words out of context to try and prove your point. Read the other definitions. Basing your argument on imperfections of the english language only demonstrates the imprefections in your argument. Your vocabulary and grammer are better than most U.S. citizens. Don't use your ethnicity as an excuse - just admit you made a spelling error while discussing 'intellectual laziness' and admit to yourself the irony is humorous. Do I detect sarcasm?! Ying, Ying, Ying, you were doing so well until now! I disagree. I think fabricating one's own interpretation of commonly understood words is dangerous and at the least misleading. Now this is a very thought provoking statement. You accuse those of us that do speak and understand proper English of being 'intellectually lazy', yet you condemn your own understanding of the language? Yes they do, but by using words in their intended context, in which they are commonly understood, the probability for error is greatly reduced. This being the case, 'suicide' already has a definition that is commonly understood. Every year new words are 'officially' added to the english language. Surely you can come up with a new word for your definition that surpasses 'ain't', 'dude', or 'pleather'! Ying, I'm curious, can you throw a spiral?
  21. Just like when Iraqi insurgents shot up an entire busload of unarmed Iraqi National Guard Trainees... what ever happened with that investigation? Oh yeah, there wasn't one... Well, how about the torture and rape of Pfc Jessica Lynch? How many Iraqi suspects have been charged in that investigation? None. I wonder if Iraq has bleeding heart liberals that ensure their interrogation techniques aren't too harsh... probably not, since they were all executed and thrown into mass graves years ago... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  22. That's the nice thing about the AR-15 - just buy a new upper receiver, and in less than a minute, you can convert your long range varmint rifle into a small CQB weapon. Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  23. You're 100% right about the flat top and scope combo. Also, my 2 cents: get a Bushmaster, they're (arguably) the highest quality AR on the market right now. Get a heavy barrel if your interested in long range shooting and don't mind a little extra weight. I'd recommend the removable carry handle (A4), even if you leave it on. At least you have a choice! Also, make sure you get a bayonet lug and telescoping stock. Bayonet's are great for home defense! Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  24. I'm not going to debate an issue with somebody who needs to redefine the english language to support their argument. I guess I'm content using my intellectual laziness to effectively communicate with other human beings. Jeff ps- most of us intellectually lazy people spell 'lazyness' with an i, not a y. Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
  25. This is not the 'logical' conclusion, it is your opinion. P1: Suicide is 'the act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself' P2: Skydiving is 'the act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself' C: Skydiving is suicide The conclusion is invalid, because premise 2 is false. Skydiving is not definined as 'the intentional ending of ones own life'. You defined suicide as: "deliberate involving of onself in an action and/ or exposing oneself to a phenomenon that can cause death" Please site the source of this 'definition'. I think you made it up to rationalize what would otherwise be considered false logic. According to Webster's Dictionary, 'suicide' is defined as: the act or an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally especially by a person of years of discretion and of sound mind. This is very different than your definition.... Jeff Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
