  1. Yes, that was one of the places that Mon-Yough used as a home....before skydivers, being what we are, managed to irritate some people with our antics and were asked to leave. I didn't start jumping at Mon-Yough until 1990, and by then it had moved to the Farm.... Let's see...names from the old days....how 'bout Bill (willy) Ritts John Lebda Nick Hunter Dave (schmuck) Shimek Frank Miller John Fetsko Al Danko LJ there are certainly others, but it's early
  2. Mon Yough moved around several times in the late 80's and early 90's and finally settled down on 'the Farm' near Worthington, PA. Unfortunately, several factors caused it cease existence in the mid 90's.

    Red Bull boycott

Hey JB, I talked to Moe at the DZ yesterday, he was quite bemused that he's the subject of internet gossip and intrigue, but he's still not going to buy a computer. cya michael
  4. Dear Tree, Your explanation of 'over-delay' is an adequate description of the event that took place. However, if you would read the two previous posts to which mike was replying it was stated that there was 'a loss of altitude awareness' and 'no malfunction'. Review of the video clearly shows that he threw on time so his altitude awareness was intact. The gear has been sent to be inspected by an unbiased third party, we should wait for their conclusion. That being said, I sincerely believe that there is nothing physically or structurally wrong with the gear, but something caused a velcro container to remain closed until too late. Count your tools, michael
  5. He had been BASE jumping for about 4-5 years and had just a little over 100 BASE jumps. We made quite a few jumps together, he was my friend and i'm really going to miss him michael

    Loss of a Bridge

There was a story in the local papers about the Kinzua Bridge being destroyed in a severe wind storm. I'm somewhat saddened as it was where i made my first BASE jump. From the photos it looks like the middle third of the bridge is gone. http://www.post-gazette.com/localnews/20030722kinzuar5.asp 469
  7. Hey Gardner, how ya doin'? sorry I missed you when you were in the area....good point about leaving something behind....one of my friends built a 'sandwich' type velcro s/l device...parts of which remained on a local 'S' for years....for the most part it worked very well, unless he got lazy and didn't keep the pile in good condition...then it tended to release just a bit prematurely-usually about half way through pulling the shrivel flap off....makes for some interesting video. cya michael
