  1. It's there already: http://canopypiloting.tempwebpage.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=5040;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  2. I've had the same mal last year. Very violent, and very close to blackout. Anybody ever tried taking a Velocity to terminal without the brakes stowed? I'd be interested to hear. I would be reluctant to try it. Maybe the extra slack in the steering lines might cause trouble somehow (tension knots?).
  3. Don't they have enough wind there as it is
  4. Yes, I've witnessed one such instance first hand. Yes. That's what I believed too ... until the facts proved me wrong.
  5. What happened to omniskore.com? Password required for http://www.omniskore.com?? WC coming up soon ...
  6. "Following numerous ill-timed firing ... " Weird.
  7. I have login-problems on dropzone.com, related to Firefox. No problems when using Internet Explorer. In my Favorites, I have bookmarks to my favorite forums, eg: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?forum=18; The URL works fine, but: -1- with Firefox => 75% of the times I'm not logged in automatically. => If that happens, logging in manually just doesn't work => 25% of the times I'm logged in automatically -2- with Internet Explorer => 100% of the times I'm logged in automatically, never had any problems Yes, I have the "remember login" flag on when logging in. Username & password are correct. Cookies are allowed. I have checked and double-checked every Firefox setting I could think of. Going directly to http://www.dropzone.com, works fine 100% of the time, even with Firefox. Any ideas?? Not being able to use tabbed browsing on dz.com feel like flying a round parachute.
  8. Since these factors are the same for both the skydiver and the ball, there is no need to add them in. But, if you insist: - Air density is covered in the Wiki link that was posted (see the "rho" in the formula). - Exit altitude is covered by taking the air density at that altitude. Oh, I never disagreed with that statement. I agree for 200%. I must have misunderstood the statement, I thought it said something about 1oz and 200mph.
  9. Hmm, not really. Terminal velocity is proportional to the square root of the mass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_velocity). 1 oz represents 4-5% of the total mass. Therefore, the fallrate will change only by 2%. Add 1 oz to a ball that falls 160mph, and it will fall 163mph.
  10. A few docks on a HD-tandem (and some great music!): http://home.tiscali.be/vertigofreeflyteam/pics/movies/fftandem.mpg
  11. Mine is a lot lighter than 25lbs. Does that mean I can stuff it with some extra weight?

    160 ft2?

I was doing something very rare and very unusual: answering the question & sticking to the topic. Question: Does anyone make a 160-ish main? Answer: Yes, PdF does (among others). Sometimes life can be that simple you know.

  15. You may be interested to know that PD is offering HMA linesets for the Katana now. I couldn't believe it myself at first, but it's true.

  17. One of them was using an Amax 90, don't know about the others.
  18. Add Belgium too. AAD's became mandatory in Belgium in the very same year that a Belgian company released a new AAD product
  19. Paradox -- why is it considered OK to skydive with a rig and expose it to speeds in the 120-170 mph range, while at the same time it is considered dangerous to carry that same rig on a motorcycle at (hopefully) lower speeds? If it opens prematurely, you're screwed. In both scenario's. Just wondering ... Disclaimer: I don't ride motorcycles.
  20. Yes, it's Jay. Unfortunately, he had a vertical extension on the entry gate, and scored 0 for that distance run. Pity ...
  21. Actually it's a guy from Belgium (not Holland). http://www.vertigofreefly.com/pics/vertigo/fifi spock.jpg http://www.vertigofreefly.com/pics/fun/fifi diagonal joker.jpg I've seen Omar do both (feet first belly up and feet first belly down). Iirc, Loki freefly team does it too (belly up).
  22. Can you point out where you found that in the FAI/IPC rules?? ftp://www.fai.org/parachuting/competition_rules/cpiloting_2005.pdf I can't find it, but that could be just me.
  23. Fly Atmonauti! You will be able to hold any vertical and any horizontal speed at any angle. No matter what the group is doing. Check out http://www.atmonauti.com (under Atmonauti / Guiness / Track-monauti). Oh wait ... Atmonauti ... that doesn't exist, does it? Flame away ...
