  1. Got Decembers issue just last night and immediately flipped to Kate's 'article' since you mentioned it here. Gotta say, the visuals she provided upon returning from that adventure were priceless. If you see Kate, ask her to do her impression of trying to freefly in the tunnel! What a woman. What a skydiver! Glad to have her as a mentor and friend. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

    ABC's of Life

A wuffo friend of mine just sent this to me tonight. She knows I'm a skydiver and sends things my way that seem connected to our mind-set. I think she hit it right on with this e-mail message... ltdiver ------------------------------------------------------- "ABC's of Life" A--Accept Accept others for who they are and for the choices they've made even if you have difficulty understanding their beliefs, motives, or actions. B--Break Away Break away from everything that stands in the way of what you hope to accomplish with your life. C--Create Create a family of friends with whom you can share your hopes, dreams, sorrows, and happiness. D--Decide Decide that you'll be successful and happy, come what may, and good things will find you. The roadblocks are only minor obstacles along the way. E--Explore Explore and experiment. The world has much to offer, and you have much to give. And every time you try something new, you'll learn more about yourself. F--Forgive Forgive and forget. Grudges only weigh you down and inspire unhappiness and grief. Soar above it, and remember that everyone makes mistakes. G--Grow Leave the childhood monsters behind. They can no longer hurt you or stand in your way. H--Hope Hope for the best and never forget that anything is possible as long as you remain dedicated to the task. I--Ignore Ignore the negative voice inside your head. Focus instead on your goals and remember your accomplishments. Your past success is only a small inkling of what the future holds. J--Journey Journey to new worlds, new possibilities, by remaining open-minded. Try to learn something new every day, and you'll grow. K--Know Know that no matter how bad things seem, they'll always get better. The warmth of spring always follows the harshest winter. L--Love Let love fill your heart instead of hate. When hate is in your heart, there's room for nothing else; but when love is in your heart, there's room for endless happiness. M--Manage Manage your time and your expenses wisely, and you'll suffer less stress and worry. Then you'll be able to focus on the important things in life. N--Notice Never ignore the poor, infirm, helpless, weak, or suffering. Offer your assistance when possible, and always your kindness and understanding. O--Open Open your eyes and take in all the beauty around you. Even during the worst of times, there's still much to be thankful for. P--Play Never forget to have fun along the way. Success means nothing without happiness. Q--Question Ask many questions, because you're here to learn. R--Relax Refuse to let worry and stress rule your life, and remember that things always have a way of working out in the end. S--Share Share your talent, skills, knowledge, and time with others. Everything that you invest in others will return to you many times over. T--Try Even when your dreams seem impossible to reach, try anyway. You'll be amazed by what you can accomplish. U--Use Use your gifts to your best ability. Talent that's wasted has no value. Talent that's used will bring unexpected rewards. V--Value Value the friends and family members who've supported and encouraged you, and be there for them as well. W--Work Work hard every day to be the best person you can be, but never feel guilty if you fall short of your goals. Every sunrise offers a second chance. X--Ray Look deep inside the hearts of those around you and you'll see the goodness and beauty within. Y--Yield Yield to commitment. If you stay on track and remain dedicated, you'll find success at the end of the road. Z--Zoom Zoom to a happy place when bad memories or sorrow rears its ugly head. Let nothing interfere with your goals. Instead, focus on your abilities, your dreams, and a brighter tomorrow. from Sunil P Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. Thanks, Deuce. You're pretty cool too! (care to post a picture of you in your photo regalia?) For the record, if Bonehead's Batrack makes Paul 'Batman', then what does Bonehead's daBomb make me? Flame away, guys. I actually like the pic. Cameraflyers usually land way after the rest of the group they film and we get to trek back to the packing area by ourselves. Thanks for the compliments (ribbing included). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Thanks for the pics, Chris!!! God, I wish I was there. Say hi to Rob Caster and the Shark for me, k? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. Saw my first ballet about 10 years ago when my (now ex) husband was employed to shoot video/stills of the performance. It was a children's ballet theatre production and was very good! I was surprised that I actually liked it. Gosh, what is it with me and camera guys, huh? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. Incredible, Bill! We can just feel the palpable pulse of the event in your writing. It's like the adrenaline of JFTC all over again...
  12. Now Winona's compared to skydivers?? "Stealing is often a reaction to emotional conflict - hence the notion of kleptomania, a theft impulse not grounded in material need. Experts compare the thrill some people get from shoplifting to other risky pursuits - the rush from gambling, drugs, or skydiving, for instance." ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  17. Sorry, already voted before the topic appeared on the NG. However, the vote I sent it would still be the one I'd send in today. Confirmation on what entries I decided were solidified. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Good overall reply. As to the quote above, do you believe this? Can you give examples? Are these ethical decisions that the majority supported, or what the elected official believed was right (no matter what the majority opinion was). If we stand by the ethical point, despite the popular trend of others, will the truth eventually win out? Or does this just alienate? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. Looking over the lives of political figures, got to wondering how they end up with the decisions they do. Examples: --The Cuban Missile Crisis --The Iran/Contra Affair --Desert Storm --Cloning --Segregation Seriously, does a Senator look to 'his' people and side with the majority lean? Or Does he/she look at all sides of every issue and make what he/she deems as the 'best' choice for everybody? And in some cases, pissing the majority of their constituents off... Look to the current crisis we're in right now with Iraq and Afghanistan. Some political circles would like to have us just move on and let these foreign nations be their own selves. Others want to crush those 'bastards' and wipe out a whole nation. If a politician makes the 'right' choice for a cause, they might not get elected to term the next time around (even if their plan was ethical and with a larger vision in mind). But...if they make the popular vote, the nation suffers in the long run... So, how do they decide? How do -you- decide? (just something that was boiling around work today....) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  21. Thanks for the invites, but can't make the Eloy thang d/t having one of those full-time jobs again. Kinda cuts into the freewheelin' fun-times, but at least the bills are gonna be paid now. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. Come on down! Love to get together with you again. Perhaps this -next- time I'll not be saddled with a 4-way team training the same weekend. Let us know the dates and we'll see how we can work it. (ah, winter at Perris) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Hey, you frickin' belly-fly the whole 4-way day! And you're pretty dang good at it too.
  24. Pam, Not the person who mentioned a weight vest a bit earlier, but thought I should post a reply here anyway... For some of us (ahem) who are a little more 'light' in the chest area and are light and lean overall (women mostly) a weight vest is the key. I've tried a weight belt but this makes my chest ride high and give me a back-sliding effect. Yeah, a weight vest works wonders instead in helping correct this body-limiting factor of mine. If you have any other advice for people in my predicament, please write it here for we'd all like to learn. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
