Jakarta - jump plane accident - FATALITY - Press Clips
ltdiver replied to quade's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Guess it popped up because they released the names of those in the plane yesterday. It might have taken them that long to both find and identify....or perhaps the family supressed the information. What I'd like to know is why the pilot chose the lake to land in. And why, if a plane can land there they didn't have enough time to get out. Doesn't a plane like this float for awhile? They said that it landed gently. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Bill, Only one 4-way team per competitor. USPA competition rules. Sorry. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

http://www.avweb.com/news/columns/187634-1.html "The jump plane landed and rolled out, but did not taxi back. As the pilot came walking in, I was told that one of the jumpers had grabbed the ignition key (older 182s had the ignition key in the center of the panel), turned it off, pulled it out and left the airplane holding the key and waving to the pilot. Evidently, this was a fad that was going around the jumping community at the time. The jump pilot, who was maybe about 5'5" tall, wasn't happy about the little joke, and proceeded to break the nose of the much larger prankster with his first punch. There was a lot of blood flying before the two were separated. " ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

What's the weather like there in Eloy these days?

I penciled a template and easily knew where the holes needed to be drilled with that. Easy as pie and didn't need to take the plate apart at all. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Unfortunately the video feed doesn't work on Macs. I've been in touch with the webmaster and he doesn't know how to fix this. quade doesen't either. Nor Murrays. We all have the latest version of WMP installed. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

The only way of doing that (short of winning the lottery, or having a better paying job...or perhaps your sweetheart is rich? ) is to make your hobby pay -you-. Looking at your profile, might I suggest that you connect with the school and hire on as a packer. Packers make some serious dough on a good weekend where I jump. Then you can skydive during the slow times (or days taken off from packing), and live the best of both worlds. Just a suggestion. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

More stupidity from TSA regarding Air Marshals
ltdiver replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, they can, and they work well. I always wondered why my Father wore a clip-on to work...he was a cop...he explained that they come right off if someone tries to grab them in a fight. I just thought my Father had a bad fashion sense, apparently he was just sensible. FallRate My dad wore clip-ons too. He had to wear a tie for business but he also HATED ties....so he compromised. As for the women TSA Air Marshals...."Female marshals must wear business suits with a blouse, knit top or dress shirt and dress shoes." Yeah, right....can we see a woman taking down a terrorist (or hijacker) while wearing a skirt! Yeah, right! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Why don't you confer with the source instead of -thinking- you know the correct answer? See my answer to SkymonkeyOne. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Chuck, Sorry that you didn't have the time to go back and pick up where other threads left off in this discussion. I was referring back to those people, in those threads, who vehemently denied that there would be NO problem with the PAC XL750's horizontal stabilizer if a cameraflyer exited in the exact same manner as an Otter exit. There were those of us who looked at the web site promoting this plane and queried on the tail's location and saftey for the cameraflyer's position. We were waiting to hear a first-hand report from those who actually DO jump from this plane. We got it yesterday. Seems that those of us with a concern were correct. Yes, you CAN exit the PAC like a Caravan or Beech. We never said you couldn't. We were trying to understand why there were those who claimed you -could- like an Otter. Up and Back. Seems that they were wrong. That is the message of my post above. Sorry you misunderstood. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I doubt it. Teams have been doing exits like those from Caravans and Beach 99's for ages. No problem for a cameraflyer familiar with the A/C. Yep. That's why I put in parenthesis "lead the exit", so you would understand what I was saying. Now, having a bit more understanding from a first person point of view on the airplane in question, it makes it a bit more unattractive for those DZ's who are looking for a plane that is versatile enough to handle big-ways and competition training on a regular and safe basis. Why get the PAC XL750 (or a KingAir,or a Caravan, or a Beech) when you can get an Otter? (if you have the money to spend, that is). Heck, they used to do competition 4-way out of a C-182! I'm sure glad they upgraded these days! (makes for great video to see just how they had to do it, though). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Hey Mel. Nice to know you're putting that new camera set-up I saw at the SSL to work. :^) Have you chatted with Pat about his techniques? (cameraflying that is). Having a personal cameraflying mentor at your DZ is worth it's weight in gold (er, film). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

In case you didn't click in the Safety and Training Forum today. Interesting feedback from someone who's jumping the PAC 750XL down under. See: Thread Here ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Please do. It'll be interesting to see how 4-way teams like the platform to launch from...especially long formations. (and don't forget about the camera step impression....talk to your cameraflyers and get their input as well...) Thanks! ltdiver Interesting reply in the Safety and Training Forum on this very subject. Listen up, people. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Dang! Thanks for the info. Guess exits like "O", "M", and "13" are out for a 4-way team! These inherently come out flat and a cameraflyer (who leads the exit) has to pop UP and BACK to show the formation correctly. This would definitely come in close proximity to the tail. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Indirect vs direct. Although both might be used by the terrorists for their cause, it is only MM's flick that is openingly being supported, with them wanting to lend a hand in it's distribution and financial funding. Agreed. That he is. Since I'm not blessed with a photographic memory, specific quotes can't be printed here....unfortunately. I -do- remember, however, wrenching at several points along the way when a scene would transition to another with 'believing gasps' coming from around me....and myself -knowing- that the effect MM sought was coming down....and -knowing- that the effect he presented had NOTHING to do with the cause he had just flashed before the audience. When the manuscript is available, I'd love to sit down with you and quade and decipher it.....independent of what others here have said, or other web sites have pond off as 'truth' or 'fiction'. I keep an open mind on most things.....however when untruths are being believed then we all have to speak up. No matter which side is spouting forth at the time. We listen. We debate. We learn. We change the world. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
