I say the kid was right to run. If he is from South Afrca then he is just as African (or possibly moreso) than anyone else who would try to claim it based on the color of their skin. Having an award designed for an Ethnic group is one of the most racist things anyone can do anymore. I agree that back when segregation was more of an issue that these awards might have been more necessary, but try having a competition that excludes any of them and see how much free publicity you get. Anyone wanting to flame me may as well take it to PMs though... I ain't coming back here to look. I said my piece... and for the record, I am not a racist. Hey, I spent all this time learning to play a musical instrument JUST SO I DIDN"T have to dance!!! As much as I love Audioslave I don't think it bears much resemblance to RATM at all... nor to Soundgarden either for that matter. All 3 bands mentioned in this post are/were GREAT though. Nope, no one comes to mind... That is one of the better things about RATM was the fact that they WERE so original and unique. Best advice I can give you to convince your dad is for more folks to post here about the band and then show him the thread. Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line.
