  5. Actually that is the point, hence the 20 year reunion. Went to mine and had a blast. We did a cruse ship thing on Friday, beach party on Saturday and woke up somewhere on Sunday. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Besides Andrea I'm sure you would be the reason that they would want to have the reunion in the first place. Being the cool skidiver chick!!!!
  6. I don't know about the cute part, that looks like one pissed off cat to me!
  7. No point other than the briefing is required to be logged. 6.4 B 2b of the SIM states: b. The training (including the date and location) should be documented in the jumper's logbook and signed by the S&TA, I/E, or USPA Instructor.
  8. It is the "local to him" part that I have never heard of. It would be prety silly to go to his bank to get a bank check to give to him to put in that same bank.
  9. FACT: The Florida DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) can sell your personal information unless you secure your records by activating a block. Take a moment and check if your name is blocked from selling your information. The DMV is authorized to give out (sell) your personal information to anyone: (name, DOB, phone number, address, SS#, Medical disabilities, etc) with no problem. You can go to the State of Florida web site and block the DMV from passing on any of your information. Go to : www.hsmv.state.fl.us and click on ON LINE DRIVER LICENSE CHECK to verify if your driver's license is valid - once it verifies that your license is valid or not it will let you know whether or not your license is blocked and it will give you the opportunity to block it at that time by following the instructions.
  10. I have jumped there regularly and have done 6 night jumps there. I had the feeling that he thought that I was "penciling in jumps".
  11. I was driving through Florida today on my way home and stopped at Zhills (Great place by the way), made a couple of jumps and said hi to Stacy and Galen. Next I stopped at Lake Wales about 6:30pm to see if they were doing night jumps and they were so I made a night jump. Now for my dilemma. After the night jump I was filling out my logbook for the day and a guy came over to me and asked if I had jumped there today because he had not seen me. I said no and went back to my logbook. Then he asked me why I was making entries in my logbook then. I asked who he was and he stated that he was a staff person there. I stated that first, this was not the only drop zone, second, I just did a night jump and third, it was not any of his business. The guy not being able to take a hint decided to ask me another question. Why if you did only one night jump is there two entries in your logbook. Having had enough I said that I would speak slowly and use small words. One entry is for the night jump briefing and one is for the night jump! At this point I walked away and had the S&TA sign my entries and left (should have stayed a Zhills). The question is what would you have done and would you talk to the DZO about it?
  12. He should accept a Bank Check drawn from your bank as his bank can verify the check. I have never herd of such a request. The other option you have is to do a bank wire transfer from your account to his. He will have the money in his account in about four hours.
  13. Kinda sounds like Baz Luhrmann's "Everyone is free to wear sunscreen" song.
  14. Having someone holding my balls is more likely to prevent me from performing my pilot duties.
  15. This should help also: Parachute Rigger Examiner Handbook http://av-info.faa.gov/data/staticdocs/8610-5h.pdf
  16. You need to understand why the FAA ruled this way in the case above. The FAA stated that since the DZ recieved compensation for the skydivers to fly in the palne and jump it was a comerical flight. It dosen't matter if the pilot was paid or not. If a private pilot takes someone up and there is no compensation to anyone like what happens at air shows when a skydiver flies in the flag, then it is OK. The last airshow I was at, I was the ground crew for the jump and was present when the FSDO rep. authorized the private piolot of the T-6 to fly the demo jumper.
  17. Contact the mfg. of the container. If there is a conflict between the canopy mag. and the container mfg. the container mfg. prevails.
  18. Call Jump Shack, they make gear just for the big guys.
  19. As a matter of fact I did, a HUGE sweet potato with cinnamon butter.......that went with my prime rib. And for desert, fresh keylime pie.

  22. The TSA has rescinded all waivers that previously allowed demo jumps into pro and college stadiums and events seating 30,000 spectators or more. The TSA action was based on enactment of Public Law 108-7 which began as an appropriations bill and was recently signed into law. The bill, which was needed to fund multiple government agencies for the remainder of fiscal year 2003, was crammed with hundreds of provisions desired by special-interest groups. One group comprised professional and collegiate sports organizations that wanted the FAA and TSA to minimize flights over their stadiums, particularly flights by banner-towing aircraft and other aerial advertisers. The resulting provision required the TSA to rescind all waivers to Notam 2/0199 which controls flight activity (including skydiving) over such stadiums and events. The law actually allows the TSA to reissue waivers for aviation activity involved in “operational purposes of an event, stadium, or other venue.” USPA believes the language allows the TSA to reissue waivers for demo jumps that are, after all, contracted by the stadium, college, or team officials. However the TSA waiver office disagrees, and will not issue waivers for exhibition jumps into the affected stadiums. USPA has appealed the decision to senior TSA officials, and has contacted members of Congress for support. Until further notice, TSA will not issue waivers for any exhibition jumps into pro (e.g. NFL, NASCAR, MLB, etc.) and college (NCAA Division 1-A) stadiums and events seating 30,000 or more spectators. Exhibition jumps into all other venues are not controlled by Notam 2/0199 and do not require a TSA waiver, though they may still require an FAA Certificate of Authorization.
  23. Thank you Mister Rogers for making the world a better place!
  24. The ONLY way that I accept foreign payment is by bank wire transfer. It's leagal, trackable and as soon as it hits my account it is spendable. I even go so far as to have a sweep account that as soon as the money hits, it goes to another account so that it can not be reversed.
  25. Think money laundering. Would you like me to read you your rights now or latter?
