  1. Thank you for the warm welcome! Ground school is Friday and to be honest I’m nervous!! I’m sure this feeling is not unique. I’m not nervous about jumping. I know I will be jumping with 2 experienced instructors who will coach and guide me to deployment altitude and even deploy for me if freak out (for lack of a better description). My fear is if I have main canopy malfunction and have to trouble shoot; make the decision to cut away. I have read that many experienced skydivers haven’t cut away for 1000’s of jumps and some instructors who had to on a tandem. That is my biggest fear...troubleshooting a main canopy problem on my 1st jump. John
  2. Hello...I want to start off by saying I really enjoy all the posts here. It can be kind of overwhelming for a student skydiver, but really informative from the experienced guys/gals. I’m a 47 year old who was fortunate enough to do a tandem jump last year with great jumpers from Midwest Freefall here at home. The experience was so profound that I decided to start AFF this spring. Ground school is scheduled later this month. When I was bit younger, I enjoyed mountain climbing and I really thought that was the ultimate thrill until I did the skydive (truly the best experience I enjoyed with clothes on!!) The anticipation is brutal!! I look forward to the challenge and learning!! John
