JVX and Velocity competition results...
marks replied to CanopyPiloting's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
You don't have a rigger friend with a hot knife? Easy fix. Ok, seriously, although not on the pro level I've had a bit of a problem with the CPC level with the weight thing. I've lost a little weight so my wingloading is closer to 1.8:1 then the 1.9:1 it used to be, BUT I'm too big and fat to be allowed the use of weights. My rig is also .7lbs under the 25lbs weight limit. Its a stock rig with a reserve, cypres and main. Nothing special. I can see its a conspiracy against normal sized people in a sport full of short-little scrawny guys. you will be made an exception if necessary. I am 100% sure of that. "there is a place for EVERYONE in swooping." --jim slaton. -
your loss my brother.

Nah, he likes giving hummers I got a hummer. FOOL! you like that face huh>?

they are now putting HMA lines on the katana. it is a little bigger and thicker and a different braid than the HMA the PST guys are using, but it is a move in the right direction. contact P.D. I am sure they will take care of you.

smaller wings. that is from what I have seen. I wish I could afford a wing 6- 7 square feet smaller than I have now. then I would have one also. -
please please please, if I ever meet you let me know all this. I don't want to teach you anything or give you any advice or direction to help save yourself. just for the sole reason that if you do get hurt, I don't want to be liable, or have to go to court to prove that I am not.

you know my velo will be there for a lineset next week if you ever send me you address again. so maybee you could talk with me about this and we will install it on mine also.

We'll never know that until 2 identical clones can swoop the same course a few seconds apart with no wake turbulence and absolutely identical input, one with "regular" set-up and one with "everything" setup - and we measure the difference. I agree that in theory, every single change to reduce drag helps, but whether or not that drag is enough to make a difference other than in one's own mind? That's an endless debate. If you're going to streamline - you can't stop at the cool bits. It doesn't make sense. t I cant tell you it added about 100 ft to my swoops when measuring distance. it didnt seem to help as much with speed, but I did notice the canopy would hold its speed ALOT longer with thinner lines. they make a HUGE difference. as for the removable slider, It is just easier to remove the whole slider/bag and pilot chute all at once rather than remove the bag and pilot chute from the slider than stow it// that being said, having a removable slider with the bag still on top of the canopy is a large advantage when it comes to being able to see. I agree with the tight clothes and shaving, I saw a couple of guys shaved. at the last meet. and there are quite a few with the tight tops as well. I however, still have my camera helmet on which has this huge box on the side that creates drag. I will be getting another helmet soon, and one of those tight shirts. but I won't shave. Im not that desperate.

Hansie wins Speed event in Colorado? Rumor?
marks replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
hans jumped my ass and said "NO MORE VERTICALS". he said in this comp that WE will be vertical free. and we were. even though KIKI had to look at the video to see I wasn't. hans proved to me he is fast, I am very happy to see it. although I proved to him I'm faster with a 2.64 in practice. he got me in the comp though. Hans, come get some. I also went farther than you BIOTCH! -

so are you saying that the people that have had a chance to perfect their skills over the last 6 years on the velocity were now caught by people that have been flying the JVX not even a full year? that's pretty interesting if you think about it. the velocity is an awesome canopy there is no doubt about it, but as more and more JVX pilots perfect their technique the competition will be tighter and tighter. it's still the pilot, as jeffro demonstrated, that makes the difference. some of the pilots at this competition definitely were NOT on their game and some, like Paul R, just got unlucky by the smallest of margins. and at this competition the margin was so small the difference between the top 10 spots after day 1 was about 10 points. hell, the difference between 2nd and 3rd was .23 points, i know cause i was in 2nd after the 1st day. just food for thought...stu I have learned just to shut my mouth on this subject. but ya. .23 points between 2nd and 3rd after half the comp was over and the scores were in the 360's. that's preaty tight. nice swoopin stu. -

Kolla, not to hijack the thread, but THANK YOU GUYS at P.D. you know I just had my velo there, and I cannot say enough about the turnaround, the price, the service all around... you guys got it going on.... I am very very happy, expected it to take 2 times as long as it did, and cost 3X as much as it did. you will get a thank you letter from me soon.

when I was 5, I watched a demo at an airshow. the skydiver landed, and was very nice to me. I "at the age of 5" looked at my dad and told him I was going to be a skydiver. of course he laughed, but we still laugh about it till this day. I started when i was 21, and I turn 32 this year. I never did a tandem, because I decided when I was 5 that I was going to be a skydiver, so I figured it was a waste of money. I passed all my AFF levels in two outing's.

Downwind Landing vs. Low Turn
marks replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
the ONLY issue with landing downwind is if the other jumpers "traffic" on the load are landing into the wind. the only difference to landing downwind as opposed to into the wind, is ground speed. landing downwind is fun. don't be scared. get some canopy coaching, realize the truth, have some fun. -
very hot. jeese, when you girls coming to skydive the farm?
