Looking for a good helmet with Gopro mount. Advice?
Nicknero1405 replied to Nicknero1405's topic in Gear and Rigging
Answers in bolt. You know, there are nicer ways to say you rather couldn't fly a cam up until 200+ jumps. -
What are you talking about? Finishing your static line (420 euro) only allows you to do static line jumps right? And following up with AFF after your static line is 900 euro, coming to a grand total of 1320 euro. While AFF from the start is 1195 euro.

Looking for a good helmet with Gopro mount. Advice?
Nicknero1405 replied to Nicknero1405's topic in Gear and Rigging
As someone being new to this whole sport, I would love to film my own jumps to look back at them. So I have been searching the webs for a possible good helmet that can fit a Gopro mount properly. I came across the Cookie G3 helmet which both looks awesome, and seems to be good quality. However, I have no idea if this helmet could even fit a Gopro mount. Because if anything, I want it to be on my forehead or at least nearby that. But the visor would be a bad obstacle. I've seen other helmet that have a thicker visor which has some material above the visor that could possibly fit a Gopro mount, so that it moves along with the visor and won't be in the way. But is this even possible at all? I would like to hear from experienced users what a proper helmet would be for a Gopro mount. Money is not an issue, although the cheaper the better obviously. Oh and it doesn't have to be a full-face helmet either. But I thought if I go for a helmet, I might as well make it a full-face one so I don't have to screw around with tight plastic glasses anymore. :P Cheers in advance! -
Awesome. Maybe I'll see you in Teuge soon then? ^^ At least, I'll be there this Saturday morning assuming this heat wave isn't going to be too troublesome. But I'll be jumping at Teuge most likely every single weekend from now on. Because skydiving is just that awesome. I've read somewhere about student transfers where you complete your AFF at dropzone X but then transfer to dropzone Y for your follow up course and such. But I can imagine it's a pain to get it done, and probably a waste of money and time. So yes, it'll be a good idea to stay at one particular dropzone until you finally have your A-license.

Yeah I would expect it to take roughly about that many jumps. First 7 for your AFF license, then a bunch of solo jumps for your own skills, then 10 for your TRIP course, and then of course the exams for your A-license. Skydiving is not a cheap sport. But it's hella fun! So if you have a good income, and not a whole lot of expenses (Like I do) then it's absolutely worth the money. ^^

Hi, I'm a newbie diver myself who only just passed his AFF. My problem is that after a couple of jumps (Usually 3 on a day) my legs hurt on the inside right where the leg straps are. It's usually after the opening where I feel it the best, but during the whole ride down to the ground it's just irritating. I asked some folks about it at my local dropzone, and they all say: "Just jump more, it'll get over or you get used to it". It's hard to describe what I mean, but I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. Is this because my leg straps are too tight and my legs get cramped? Or are my leg straps too lose and they have friction on my legs that cause this issue? As for now, I've only jumped one day a week and it takes almost that whole week to recover from this annoyance. But summer vacation is coming, and I'd like to jump more. But if this continues to happen after a couple of jumps in a day, I'm afraid it's starting to be too painful to do more than that.

I recently (Last sunday to be exact) graduated my AFF course in Paracentrum Teuge in The Netherlands. After finishing your AFF, you are allowed to jump on your own, but ONLY on your own. You require a follow-up course to be able to jump with others. At Teuge, they call it the TRIP. (Teuge Relative Instruction Program). I'm sure Texel has something similar as well. This exists out of 10 jumps with an instructor, at only 1.75 times the price of your own jump. (Normally you pay €33,- for a single jump from 12000ft but roughly about €60 for a TRIP jump.) During this TRIP course they teach you everything you need to know about jumping with others. Such as horizontal and vertical positioning, how to exit the plane together, etc etc. My advice, which is exactly what I'm doing myself now as well: After you're done with your AFF, go have fun and do as many solo jumps as you can. Pick up some skills at your own phase and discover new stunts and manoeuvres step by step. Such as salto's, delta flying, or even vertical flying. After some jumps by yourself if you think you've picked up enough skill, you can contact your local dropzone about the follow-up course. Good luck to you mate! And let there be lots of blue skies. :)

Hello again guys. It has been a couple of weeks now, but I finally got a chance to do my AFF level 6 and 7. And load and behold, I too can say that the wind tunnel has done miracles. I've completed my AFF and passed as a student. So now I am officially licensed to jump myself, and of course I already did my very first solo jump that same day. (Which was yesterday btw.) Everyone, thanks for your advice and support. And for those who are going through the same problems as I did: Good luck to you! I'm sure you will do just fine eventually. It all takes practice. ^^ If anyone is curious to see my progression, I've made a single video with all of my jumps together. Now I'm off to jump MANY MANY MANY times to eventually become better in free fall. ^^ We'll see where the road brings us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwitVP3j_BE

Yes, I indeed jump at Teuge. And no, my main instructor for level 1-5 was Marijn. And second instructor for level 1-2 was Peter and level 3 Bob. Anyway, when I look at my own videos for a thousandth time, I think it was just a combination of not enough Arching. And panicking during the uncontrollable spin, causing my body to be stiff, which caused it to be even worse. Heck, during that second spin after the instructor let me go again at level 5, my spin became so fast that it pulled my arms and legs all the way out due to the centrifugal force. But tapping your toes to make sure your legs are symmetrical seems like a decent idea. I'll consult my instructor about it when I can finally finish my AFF, which will hopefully be next weekend.

Hello Dropzone users, I'm a new user here, as well as a new Skydiver. I've never done Skydiving before up until a couple of weeks ago where I got a Tandem jump as my 24th birthday present. I liked it so much that only 2 weeks after that I started my AFF course here in The Netherlands. Currently I've done 5 jumps up to level 5. My posture wasn't that great though, and in level 4 and 5 I got into a spin which I couldn't get out of. I still had altitude check and pulled the chute myself at the right altitude, which is probably the reason they let me pass the levels regardless. They gave me the advice to practice my Arch posture in a wind tunnel though, and that is what I did. I've read many threads and reports from others that a wind tunnel has done them miracles. And I can truly vouch for that. In my opinion, it went super well! Although I wasn't as stable as the instructors (obviously), I still had full control over my rotation and I learned a lot during my 10 sessions in the wind tunnel. Now I still have to do my level 6 and 7 jumps. (Weather is disappointing in the weekend the last week). And I'm looking for perhaps more tips from more experienced skydivers what I should work on to make my stability even better. Because although I had full control over my rotation, I was still rocking back and forth quite a lot in the wind tunnel. And I'm afraid that this might be a problem for more advanced jumps. As helpful addition, here I included the videos of my AFF jumps as well as 7 out of 10 of my wind tunnel sessions (I lost the other 3 because I copied over the wrong files when I left the place, derp.)
