"Conspicuous gallantry, intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service" is no small matter. I know of nothing in Chris Kyles background that would even qualify him for the DSC, which does not detract from his accomplishments one iota. I have English translations of both Mein Kampf and the Koran right here (as well as the Tanakh, the Book of Mormon, the King James Version, etc.). The Torah is used by most of the Rabbis I know as a list of Seriously Bad Examples (name one Patriarch who did not step on his dick), and otherwise lays the basis for the traditions of a big, dysfunctional extended family. It is a Bronze Age relic that serves as a seriously mixed blessing to the Children of Israel (and to a lesser extent, the wannabe isms that use the Tanakh loosely as a basis). The Koran, OTOH, consists of the cherry-picked ramblings of an illiterate, violent pervert (all descriptors undisputed). Most suras consist of admonitions to fully accept subjugation or die. There are a few that leave loopholes for slavery and rape of the unbelievers, but gist is to agree or forfeit your head. The suras that were too fucked up even for his followers were summarily committed to the flames. The Prince of Peace Muhammad was not. The whole ism depends on Argumentum ad Baculum on a massive scale. If one does not accept this dreck, one is not a muslim. I am not cool with any of it, and do not pretend that I am. News flash - everybody dies. Given that one of the key tenets of that charming ism is to die and go to Paradise, I do not see why you take exception to my being all for that goal, so long as they do not take innocents with them. I leave poisonous snakes pretty much alone. In practice, however, I am more comfortable with those that are no longer animate (not 100%, mind you - a dead rattler can still kill you). I give venomous creatures and charismatic megafauna wide berth, and sure as hell do not seek either to foster nor terminate their existence. The same goes for those who adhere to isms dedicated to the demise of me and those I love. If I can manage to keep a significant amount of real estate between me and them, I really do not care what they do. Killing each other in "Night of the Long Knives" fashion does not provide much respite in the long run, but it does serve to reduce the head count of the truly virulent. The bottom line is that these people suck out loud, and I want nothing to do with them. If I could die of old age without ever hearing anything at all about them, that would be fine with me. Reading Comprehension 101 is a good thing. I don't have a problem with people who adhere to a massively malevolent ideology choking on a chicken bone, or if members of equally malevolent groups setting about reducing each other's numbers. One of the biggest objections to freed slaves being granted citizenship was that of firearm ownership. The Cliff Notes version is that, given firearms by dint of citizenship, these folks would be shooting anything and everything. Oddly enough, the racist slant for gun control comes down to some people wishing guns away so that negroes could not get them.
