It seems that it is much more complicated than just "Get Rid of the Laws". Oversimplification doesn't an argument make. Starting with "milder" drugs is a good start, definitely. Where do we draw the line though? Should we make meth and PCP legal? Quite simple, actually. If a drug is not worse than tobacco or alcohol, legalize it under no more onerous restrictions than tobacco and/or alcohol. FWIW, there really are no worse drugs than alcohol and tobacco. Ask any coroner worth his/her salt. For the record, I do not drink, smoke or otherwise take psychoactive substances (okay, coffee), so I have no dog in this fight - beyond paying for the Apprehension Industry, the Legal Industry and the Incarceration Industry. So then how do you approach people who aren't alcoholics and say they aren't? Do you just assume they are because, "Denial is the number one symptom"? "I don't mess with alcohol, man, heroin's my bag."
-
That's a tall order, and it's not my job.
-
you have one life to live, don't waste it following mindless drivel. Denial is the number one symptom of the disease. It is not.

Yes, because I'm sure the doctors there routine would open a patient up to do heart surgery, decide that all they needed to do was pray, and then leave the room without even so much as bothering to close them back up. Oh, I don't know. I was admitted to a Catholic hospital when I was 13, some 14 hours after my appendix burst. The good Catholics tried to give me Extreme Unction/Last Rites (I sent them packing). A Jewboy Doctor went to work and kept me alive. I'll take a secular surgeon any time. BSBD, Winsor So is that story suppose to suggest then that Christian (or maybe just Catholic) doctors wouldn't operate on you? Is that what you're saying? No. Get a clue.

On Youtube in 3 parts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0DSEdLCAUg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nwYEc-z3e0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbirLZf9B5Y So it's all 24 karat bullshit? It has been amply demonstrated that the US of A is powered by bullshit, and anyone who can harness bullshit is guaranteed success. Obama is a prime example.

Obama Pledges Greater Surveillance Transparency

I think this rather covers it. -
You are correct. However, it became a non-denominational, in fact secular, organization because the purpose is to attain sobriety not to worship. Oh, and for millions of people world wide, it works. Not to mention AAAA groups: Atheists and Agnostics in Alcoholics Anonymous (for real).
-
Not sure where you get that idea. AA is not Christian. Completely non-denominational. Many in AA in the US are Christian, and some of them forget the "Higher Power of our understanding" part and push their own religious beliefs, but that doesn't make AA "Christian." And in no way shape of form associated with the Christian Temperance Movement (if it still exists). And not even against alcohol. When someone has nothing but ignorance, you are not doing them any favors by denying them that.

Yeah, pretty much. I do not dispute the content in particular so much as the tone. 'The FUCKINGASSHOLESCUMSUCKINGDOUCHEBAGS now claim that the Earth does not revolve around the Sun!' I find it hard to get past the vitriol to the content. If the point is that the poster REALLY disapproves of anyone who might be labeled as a 'conservative' or whatever, that was established long ago. Cleverly inserting commentary ('conservtards,' etc.? Give me a break.) into one's monologue suggests that the standpoint is anything but dispassionate - or even rational. If you wish to discuss transgressions by various Gov't agencies, fine. If you do so by screaming your point, it is likely to be ignored. BSBD, Winsor

Once again... Are you smoking crack? Crack is bad umkay! Given the historical precedent for "bad" regimes being overthrown in the hope that sweetness and light will ensue, the sentiment of the poster constitutes the classic doing the same thing and expecting different results. For some reason people tend to overlook the possibility (probability) of going from bad to much, much worse. Regardless of how bad things may suck here and now, it is a vast improvement over a lot that I have personally witnessed. BSBD, Winsor

Do you have any suggestions, or are you satisfied with your usual outpouring of unfocused poison?

You sound like a Pinko to me, boy.

I saw Betty Ford interviewed, and her take was refreshing. The interviewer asked her about her consumption and she began to answer, then stopped and said that it really did not matter. Betty said that, if you go to a party and know in advance how much you can drink, it's a bad sign. If you know at any time during the party exactly how much you have consumed, it's a bad sign. If you leave the party feeling proud of yourself for limiting your consumption to your predetermined limit, it's a bad sign. Someone once pointed out that if you ask yourself whether or not you are an alcoholic, the answer is yes. People who are not alcoholics do not wonder if they are. I have nothing against alcohol when consumed in limited quantities by people who are not driving or handling flamethrowers or whatever, and have bought my share for various firsts. As long as I don't have to consume it, I'm cool with it (it REALLY did not agree with me). BSBD, Winsor

Marijuana is bad. It makes your babies get born naked.

I thought it went "...yea, verily, if you teach a man to fish he shall henceforth drink beer and tell lies..."

Get a clue people. We most certainly were aware of the efficacy of these tactics in the 1970s.

Nice implication that someone who has conservative views is akin to those that believe in mythical creatures...Really not so different as your previous implication that conservatives can't read...your constant belittling of those with views that don't align with your views is getting quite tiresome...you continually use personal insults, and frankly, it isn't flattering. Where to start? Conservative political views have been defined as those advocating the conservative application of government. This is to say that government should be kept on a tight leash, and put to use only when truly appropriate. 'Conservative,' however, has become synonymous with the 'Religious Right,' opposition to abortion and so forth. In this case, the question addresses umbrage taken at a perceived lack of 'respect' for one's religious convictions. The question seeks to clarify whether one only one particular brand of religion is inviolate, or if any belief system is similarly sacrosanct. One problem that has been observed with regard to the discussion of religions is that it requires appropriate disclaimers and/or emoticons to distinguish between when one is being intentionally absurd or is simply describing the tenets of a particular faith verbatim. Credo quia absurdum and all that. Anyhow, the point is simply to determine what particular brands of nonsense covered by the dictum that one's beliefs are to be respected, and which may be safely ridiculed. Making fun of the ridiculous as defined by Islam is subject to murderous response, but that is an unique case. Islam, the nonsensical construct of a murderous pervert (RTFB), is singularly virulent. FWIW, Joseph Smith was not much (if any) better. BSBD, Winsor

Rioting over the zimmerman case should be an embarrasment to blacks

You should have seen Montreal when they won the Stanley Cup. I am pretty sure that very few Black Hockey League fans were involved. -
What year would you like to start with? We can talk about about 1929 and its impact on the U.S and/or Europe (including National Socialist economy). But anyway, if we want to go back to basics. Let's remember the difference between a forecast and a projection. A forecast is a future-oriented financial information prepared using assumptions that are the most probable set of economic conditions while a projection is based on one (sometimes more) hypotheses. I am directly pointing out WHICH hypotheses were wrong and why (namely the fact that it relied too much on austerity). And this is something that can be clearly seen in the 10 years bond. Cheers!

She took my slot in the formation after I got axed. I had refused to dive blindly at the formation to keep up with the guy ahead of me, and was thus like 3 seconds late; he got a foot print on his face for getting there on time (for real). Sandy is one of too many people who have vindicated the hard way my decision to chicken out. I have done enough really dangerous things that, by the time it scares me, it is likely a very bad idea. The tuition is steep, and it has already been paid in full. I got a hug from her the last time we said goodbye, and I wish she had been willing to get axed as well. BSBD, Winsor

Try this to get some perspective: first, operate under the theory that spending on anything and everything (no matter how random) like drunken sailors is responsible government domination add in a policy to tax 100% of any savings or earnings from the rich (anyone that makes more than $20K per year) for 'fairness' add in printing money like an out of control post war 3rd world country and then he really gets happy and add in the perception that a very slight reduction in a massive increase is considered "austerity" and then you can close on this unique brand of economic theory Haha. I understand everything I say sounds counter-intuitive and henceforth slightly difficult to understand (because we are so hardwired to think that an economy is like our personal finance). However, remember that zero-bound economy is different. If you want to learn more about the economy, I advise you to see the 10 years U.S bond and understand why the % is low (and has been so low) for so long. This will help understand why what I am saying isin't an opinion, but what is happened/has happened to the economy since 2007. Cheers! :) Happy weekends all! :) In addition to Arithmetic 101, may I suggest History 101?
