Shit is going to get real messy in Ukraine/Russia
winsor replied to Remster's topic in Speakers Corner
Steve Morrell had a ticket for Pan Am flight 103. A botched BASE jump kept him in Saudi Arabia, so he had the ticket in hand as he watched the report ('live from Lockerbie, Scotland...") on CNN. Any life worth living is a series of close calls. BSBD, Winsor -
I don't think black people as a whole get pissed off when someone is called a denier. Maybe some specific black people would get pissed off if they were called deniers but I don't think their being black would have anything to do with it. Any of them that understand the abject horror that is Climate Change would be aghast if called the d word.

If a person is looking to be offended, he'll be offended by anything including the phrase, "have a nice day." That said, equating denial of climate change with the struggles of a race recovering from slavery is beyond fucked up. Anyone who believes it's on the same level of offense is probably a fairly shallow individual. Climate Change threatens to Destroy the Planet, sir! The death of over a trillion innocent people takes precedence over the feelings of a few people with an excess of melanin. I certainly think that the stakes of turning our fair planet into a glowing cinder (or an ice ball, depending upon which Nobel Prize winner you favor) is Much More Important than some people being relocated as unpaid interns for a few generations- before getting 40 acres and a mule. As people so often remind the families of former CSA citizens, they should simply get over it. BSBD, Winsor

Okay, so there are people on the right as terminally stupid as is Al Gore. I get it. FWIW, the name calling does not enhance the credibility of your cause. If you replaced the 'deni' with 'nigg' it would be no more or less offensive to some.

Mexico to facilitate travel from Central America to the US border
winsor replied to Iago's topic in Speakers Corner
I recommend letting them stay. In fact, I recommend paying for the airfare to relocate them within the US of A. There is an airfield at Kiska that would serve the purpose nicely. -

Stop sending guns and money to the middle east!
winsor replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
Sending munitions to one side or another does have its appeal. B-52s can deliver quite a bit in Arc Light mode. "There are few personal problems that cannot be resolved by the suitable application of high explosives." - S.F. Dogma -
Sales of 'hard choices' in first week pale in comparison to palin
winsor replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
I happen to loathe Hillary, but sales of the book do not mean much. How often do you see Scientific American or US News and World Report by the checkout counter of your local supermarket? The higher the IQ of the target audience, the smaller are your sales. Appeal to the lowest common denominator and you can't print enough copies. -
Cameroon just got their ass handed to them by Croatia. It was interesting to watch, but hardly a nail-biter. It was like watching a High School Varsity team go up against Pros - no contest.

Wow, Al Gore is gonna be pissed!

Who? Top. Men.

Look, it may be unworkable, but at least it's unaffordable. Outspending the enemy sure worked in Vietnam. The Soviet Union also got great results from a military that served the dual purpose of an economic black hole. We are NOT, repeat NOT, doing the same thing and expecting different results. This time it is truly different. We have Top Men in charge...
-
Perhaps, but we don't have to make it easy for them. That is the problem with the current system; it's too easy for people with mental health issues to have access to guns. Damn! You're so right! Why don't we make firearms as illegal and unavailable as, say drugs? And while we're at it, it really pisses me off that people drive under the influence of alcohol. We should illegalize the stuff! We could call it, oh, 'Prohibition,' and it would be a total success! BSBD, Winsor

New california gun control laws working like a champ

Beware the NJ State Police. I had a gravel truck change lanes into me at a weave intersection, where I was in the second lane from the right and he was to my left and moving to occupy my lane. I locked up the brakes and swerved enough to the right to keep from getting crushed, but was clipped by an SUV overtaking to my right. My car, a Honda Accord, had the front bumper torn loose by the SUV, and but I limited contact from the gravel truck to having my left mirror snapped forward. The Troopers that showed up ticketed both me and the trucker, at which point I went ballistic. The Trooper who wrote the ticket was adamant that I had somehow contributed to the accident despite all evidence to the contrary. When I showed up to get the accident report, the physics behind the Trooper's account would have made Warner Brothers' cartoonists roll their eyes. In it I was also quoted as having made reference to "Vehicle #1," "Vehicle #2" and so forth. I informed the Trooper that lying was a sin and he was in danger of going to hell. I told the Sergeant who refereed the discussion that the account was physically impossible; when he told me that he had taken Physics I asked him whether or not he had passed the subject. I informed the Sergeant that a liar is the lowest form of life, and that he was backing a liar. I then left before he locked me up. When I got to court I had aerial photographs of the intersection, photographs of the damage to my car, photographs of the site of the accident, video of traffic at that time of day and graphic analysis of the event (which differed greatly from the Trooper's version). I could hardly wait to get the Trooper under oath so that he could either perjure himself on the stand or admit that the legal document he signed was false. Unfortunately, he saw fit to slip out the back before I could corner him. Without the Trooper's testimony, charges were dropped and the trucker's insurance paid for all damages to my car and the SUV in the accident. When dealing with police in general, having an excess of documentation to establish exactly what you did or did not do is essential, as is adhering to every law with which you are aware. I now have dash cams for every vehicle I drive. BSBD, Winsor

You just cant make this stuff up Of course you would think that.. BUT The reality of this is that its a screw up... The REALITY of the "Bushies" did it out of POLITICAL MALICE. I hope you are proud of that. well, except they didn't. . . unless you can prove they did. I have roughly equal amounts of contempt and loathing for each administration, so I consider myself Fare and Balanced (c) on the issue. I agree with Jeanne that Bush's acolytes acted out of raw malevolence and that those in O'bama's orbit are subject to unbridled incompetence. Either group can be a case in point to demonstrate the banality of evil - name your poison. BSBD, Winsor

I watched the entire sermon and only caught one reference to homosexuals when Phil quoted a scripture reference. The message was being born again. Watch and listen for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhnxDSOxfss Nah, having to endure the ramblings of some Religious Afterbirth is not something for which I will volunteer. My post was directed toward Amazon. This gentleman may be more to your understanding. Marvin Rosenthal Wow, do I come off as being that clueless? I may well be, but I flatter myself as being less of a dullard than one who is in synch with that site. Is joke, no?

New california gun control laws working like a champ
winsor replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
One of the seven who died was the killer, and apparently three of the victims were stabbed to death. There were at least four people who were injured from being hit by the killer's car. So it's not all about guns. I will bet $0.50 that he was taking at least one of the more popular SSRIs or other - quite legal - medications. Actually, that's not a bet, it's an investment. Better living through chemistry, eh comrades? BSBD, Winsor Did you actually read any of the material you cited? This cite makes "Info Wars" look like a legitimate news source, using it as a source to try and convince people of what may well be a link between SSRIs and violence is sure not going to help. I picked from a number of hits when googling "mass shootings pharmaceuticals" and skimmed the part that I considered pertinent. Mea culpa. I could have picked another, but there were rather a few hits from which to choose. I am not out to convince much of anyone of anything, since people who need instruction to take note of the obvious are generally hard of thinking. Stupidity is an overwhelming force, and it is not my job to fight it. BSBD, Winsor -
Bingo. The legal system is as capricious as it is ponderous.
