  1. Just curious. What is the most common student canopy currently used? Do most student rigs have the same reserve? Thanks in advance. John
  2. Curious. Anyone know of a place to jump in Djibouti?
  3. I saw it happen, to include the conversation.
  4. Definitely agree with what is being said. Talk with your instructors about it or sit in on a FJC if you can. We use to say, when in doubt, whip it out.
  5. I remember around that same time frame a Mr. Bill out of Mr. Douglas, so probably around 14K. One of the guy's canopy blew up. He didn't pull his reserve instead he docked on the formation that went out before him. On the ground someone from that formation asked why he didn't pop it. He said, "If it doesn't work up here it won't work down there. So I might as well have fun."
  6. I knew Chuck Leonard in Covington, LA. Anyway saw him hand prop the Beech 18 there once. It drew a crowd.
  7. Mine was made by Strong. I remember the acid test deal. Seems the guy that took it said seething about it failing. I don't remember that too clearly.
  8. I'm wanting to get my riggers ticket and would like to find someone willing to take me as a apprentice. Currently I'm working out of the country and am looking to the future. Thanks in advance John
  9. I would start by looking at what type of jumping your going to be doing the most. Like any tool, proper tool for he proper job. Look at what the folks jumping like you are wearing, ask around. Unless you have a large amount of disposable income. In which case you can buy a few. As far as getting it dirty, it's going happen. I have used woolite or even dish soap and a little grease. Hope this helps.
  10. I asked Red at Flight Concepts. He told me it was Glide Path Thanks
  11. Yep, last jumped in '87. I had a conical 26' Lo Po in my Vector. Rounds were more the norm them. I did see some folks getting squares. I figured that because squares are better (?) now that there would be more used for reserves. Sounds like that is the case.
  12. Thanks, I was wondering about reserves. Just didn't tell my fingers to type that.
  13. Which is the most common no days, round or square?
  14. Anyone know what company made the Fury 7 cell main back in '84? I used to jump one but can't remember.
