I just did the chicago to london trip. Going through security with rig in hands and when it went through the xray they stopped and called the supervisor, @he said, whay are you calling me once he looked at it, he said-it's a parachute. the guy who called him over goes because of procedure. Supervisor hits him over the head with papers. They then swabbed it while asking how they can try skydiving and then said thanks and let me on my way. I find this is the way i have always been treated with my rig and this was while the UK was on the highest security alert. Stop stressing about taking rigs. Dont show them at check in and then just cruise throguh with it. If they stop you tell them they can not open it as it is a life saving device and always pull the it is illegal for you to open it to check that cypres, you can call the faa to find that out Always carry your USPA license or equivelant though. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

I think what his point is that everywhere you look in this country there is food, food and more food and then some. Langar is my fav dropzone in the UK, however i have not been to HIB. BTW, it is not expensive to travel to the states to jump. It also does not take a rich person to do it. With all your stupid sarcasim do you really think you should be representing a good dropzone in the uk as with the way you are coming across i imagine you are turning people away from visiting Langar as they would get the wrong impression and start to think that there will be more people at that dropzone that are pig headed when in fact there is not. Langar does not match up to any of the first class dropzones in the world however it is one of the better dropzones in the UK with good people, good vibes and good aircraft. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

To answer your question i had my days full with looking after, coaching and briefing a very low number jumper that came over with my crew. I was helping him with tracking, and awerness as i noticed he was always opening next to people and tracking along with others. At the same time, he was also coming along on jumps he should not have been on but the peer preassure from the rest of my crew was not letting me stop him from coming. Hey dude. Your post is exactly what is expected of jumpers at the WFFC, however i think there are many jumpers there that are not as intelligent as yourself. I was on a skyvan load and they were putting students out that were on radio and student gear pulling at 4500 feet who were at the same time on 8-ways before big freefly groups who were pulling at 3000 feet. I had a problem with that but felt like an idiot when i said something. Yes we need to police it ourselves and it is all very easy to saythat on the internet but saying it on the plane and having anyone listen is a different story. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .

I see your point Bill. I suppose i am just looking at things the wrong way as my experience has been the flipside to the way things are looked at here in the states. Maybe instead of myself looking at it that the WFFC is dangerous, maybe i should think some of the jumpers are irresponsibl;e when they are in charge of themselves. Makes sense to me. I guess that is what it is coming down to. the thing is that students or sub 100 jump numbers dont usually know any better and will be wanting to try it all. I think there should be someone looking out for these people. Different culture, maybe... i dont think it is responsible though if someone lets a guy with 60 jumps to jump out of a balloon into danger landing areas when he can not even perform a stand up landing on the dz as it is. I dont think they do balloon jumps in the uk. I know that with the balloon you have to find your own landing area but when there is a guy with 60 jumps on the balloon should they not tell you what sort of landing areas you are going to have to expect. Should they be letting a person with 60 jumps try and land amongst powrlines and 8 foot corn? I looked after myself at this place as did most other people. I just think that there could be a few much needed rules at this conventiopn. It may then bring the droves of people back. I am not trying to bad mouth the WFFC, just pointing out the problems i noticed and in all honesty really do hope that they can fix them to make the droves of people realise that it can be safe and get back there. The WFFC was awesome, though lacked attendance. there could not have been more than 400 there on any given day. People say they do not go cause it is not safe. If they had some rules here and had things oput in place to make it safe the people would start coming back surely as it is an awesome awesom event that deserves the attendance from all the hard work put in to it. For those of you that tell me not to come back, why were you not there? For those that tell me to stay home, maybe you should realise i am allowed an opinion and my opinion has merit. But that doesn't mean that Langar is not one of the Best Skydiving centers in the world. Maybe is not one of the Best skydiving business in the world but is still one of the best skydiving centers. I will never travel to USA to pay £600 in Air tickets minimum, £££££ in VISA (if I get it? I am Greek) $$$ in accommodation-rent cars-buses, to just jump from the same altitude as Langar, make the same number of jumps as if I jumped at Langar......and all this because of the facilities or entertainment around the dropzone...NEVER. Well you can not say that it is one of the best dropzones in THE WORLD if you do not have a clue about other dropzones. Langar is my fav in uk but is about a 3 out of 10 in my opinion. There are so many threads going on about this argument. I had a great time there but i also think it is the most dangerous dropzone i could ever imagine. I just saw this awesom pic. My mate was on this load and the lightning was hitting the landing area while he was under canopy after jumping from the Pitts. 10 minutes before this photo was taken manifest was warning us of a level 5 storm coming in and there was a tornado warning. I could not believe that they let the jet load then go up after this warning was made. About 10 seconds after this canopy landed the wind and rain was so strong that it snapped wood in half on many tents. How can anyone say that this event is safe? There was no dz briefing, no landing patterns, and no idea what planes were dropping after you. I had a student still on radio exiting an aircraft before us with an 8 way and then our 9 way were freeflying after him. The event is awesome and a great time, very very cool people and some awesome jumps made, safe it was not. We were let out of a balloon where there was nothing but 8 foot corn to land in, the one house we could have made it to was full of power lines. there was nothing else there but corn and bean fields. Another instance was all loads were called off for weather reasons and then 10 minutes later they called the jet load to jump but kept other loads on the ground. Jumping out of the jet is a free for all.... I was in sit and then thought shit there will be rw in the sky in front of me and there they were with my 6 way screaming past them in sit. All this event needs is a safety officer there. Someone making as rule for landing patterns, someone making an area for students and a seperate area for swoopers. Golf carts should not be buzzing all over the PLA. I watched a tandem land inside a tent and break the tent wood, the same tent a tandem landed on top of. Another p-erson landed on top of a tent and then someone goes and gets killed by hitting a truck. Sort the shit out, just get a safety officer, make some rules, at the moment it is a free for all where everybody expects someone to die. I was at eloy last xmas, safe boogie, more jumpers than the wffc and there was no deaths expected. Here is a pic that should be viewed. If you say this is a safe boogie this pic will prove you wrong. Bear in mind this lightning was going on for about 10 minutes before this photo was taken, and before this load took off. 2 minutes before this photo was taken there was a whole jet load under canopy in the sky.
