winds in access of 300mph???
sundevil777 replied to potatoman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Explain please. Do you mean that the "air mass" you are talking about has rigid boundaries? There's only one place that I can think of where there is anything close to a rigid boundary and it's around 0' AGL. But even that boundary is not rigid. It's just a point where the neighboring mass is not fluid (or easily influenced by the air current). Bodies of water come in second (more easily influenced). -
I would think that it would not count as an at-bat, in the same way that getting a walk is not an at-bat, so it doesn't change the batting average. That would be my intuition, without looking it up. If you hit the ball on the ground right at the second baseman, you deserve to be out. The fact that he fucked up and booted it changes nothing; the pitcher won that battle between you, the error let you get to first, and your average goes down. I see your point. Usually that would be the case - if not for the error, the defense would have gotten the out. I wonder if the scorekeepers consider if the runner might have beaten the throw anyway when they decide an error. That would be hard to judge. That conclusion does not recognize that Israel has survived. Of course some don't see that as a positive result. A long lasting peace is certainly the ultimate goal, but not the only outcome worth recognizing as a good "return". I don't think any country should contribute relief to the Palestinian Authority without Arafat's estate giving up money that he took during his reign. That right there is some funny funny shit man... ever thought of doing standup??? The only people who Might be able to call Fox News as fair and balanced and middle of the road are those who think John Birch might have been a commie stooge. Liberals will think there is no left bias because the liberal position on issues is correct. [Laugh] I didn't provide proof of my claim, just an anecdote that I think is obviously applicable. You provided nothing but a vague insult to support your assertion. I contend that studies attempting to demonstrate the level and direction of bias in the media largely support my claim, but such studies will always have flaws. So, we are left to trade instances of bias against each other. The Palestinian Authority has explicitly admitted that the news media are on their side, helping them. Of course they don't mean every media source, but I don't think they are referring to just a small number of minor players. How is it that Juan Williams and Mara Liasson, two substantial names within NPR, are able to stand being a part of the panel discussion on Brit Hume's Special Report nearly every day? Juan Williams has been on Bill O'Reilly's show many times. If Fox News is so bad, how can they hold their lunch when they repeatedly appear on the network? Why am I not surprised at this post I apologize if that sounds rude/mean, but she did admit to being a nymphomaniac, and I am wondering if she was getting harrased by unwanted suitors. Is that unreasonable? Perhaps I shouldn't have asked the nature of her troubles, leaving it to her to post it if she wanted. What exactly are you assuming my motives are? It seems you want to assume the worst, and some could make conclusions about you from that, don't you know. Was your trouble with fucktards related to sexual harrasment that may have been in part a result of you saying that you are a nymphomaniac, etc? I'm just wondering if your trouble is at all related to being such an extrovert on this site. Sure, you'll hear about many things on NPR, but their reporting is very often extremely biased. Their own ombudsman has admitted to their trouble with being fair and balanced. I still listen to NPR a lot, it doesn't seem to me his efforts to fix that have worked. I still have a very vivid memory of a story on NPR a couple years ago that was an interview of a soldier that had recently returned from Iraq. The correspondent started the story by saying that the soldier "still could not see the light at the end of the tunnel". A little later the interview actually started. I expected to hear an obviously liberal leaning soldier stating his objections to the war/policy. I was surprised to hear his story of support for the war, and inspiring stories of how he thought things were improving so much. There wasn't anything at all about "no light at the end of the tunnel". You can correctly say that he was overly optomistic, and that the reporter was more correct than the soldier, but the fact remains that the reporter was completely wrong to put her own words into the mouth of the soldier. Her lead in to the interview was pure editorial opinion. But some will claim that news sources like NPR are not biased.[Crazy] I also will admit that Fox News is biased, but a lot closer to fair and balanced than NPR. The whole claim that NPR and PBS are non-commercial and therefore not beholding to others as are the commercial networks is bullshit. They have lots of paid commercials, they are just shorter than usual and don't occur in the middle of the show. Garrison Keillor has got to be the most boring guy ever! If first base is occupied with fewer than two outs, the uncaught third strike rule isn't in effect, so you have to come up with ways of advancing them. A dropped-third-strike followed by a home run could be continued ad infinitum. After the runner gets to first on a dropped 3rd strike, they could steal bases to continue it forever, correct? There should be something added to the rules stating that the strike zone shall remain as defined by the rules, and shall not contract over time to be only 6 inches high. No need for this part of the rules to be a living, evolving document. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Because I think the final score of the game would include all 4 runs, I say yes, the batter gets credit for all of them. That is what I had thought was true since I was a kid, but the announcers know more than I do, so I wanted to get other opinions. I thought it would be easy to find the answer in the official rules, but they are really hard to use to find the answer to such a simple question. GO MARINERS! I thought I knew the answer to this question, that it was a basic fact that everyone knew, but after hearing the comment of the announcers to a Cubs-Mariners game, I'm not so sure. Example scenario: Runner at 3rd, two out, ground ball hit to infielder that throws out the batter at first. Question: If the runner at third gets home before the batter is out, does the run count? I always thought the timing of the runner passing home didn't matter as long as the batter was out at first, as opposed to getting out at second base attempting to get a double. However, the announcers of the game commented that the infielder had to hurry his throw to first because Ichiro Suzuki was at third base, and can get home so quickly. I tried to confirm the answer by looking at the official rules: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/foreword.jsp I just can't find where the rules cover this situation. Thanks in advance for your help. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. That is one of the stupidest things you've said. You make a huge assumption that is based on facts not in evidence. I would think the opposite would be true, that the number of listeners will go way up. Also, a lot of people that hate the conservative talk radio hosts still listen to them. They do have really high ratings, don't you know? Your bias and blinders are firmly in place, quite easy to see that. Lawmakers keep talking about a passenger's bill of rights. The right to your own seat should be included Next time that happens to me, I'm going to talk to the flight attendants and demand another seat, or use it as an excuse for them to allow me to sit in the observer's seat on the flight deck. Kinda like they have the clear box that they can make you put any carry on bag into for a fit-check, they should have 2 bars a certain width apart that you must pass through before boarding. Why do you think the gasoline Civic does so well, when it gets lower mpg than a VW diesel? I would think diesel fuel would require less energy to refine, and benefit from that also. Why do you think the Prius has such a small advantage? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I think that is too broad of a claim. The miles driven (or more importantly, the gas consumed per person) certainly does reduce as gas prices go higher, they just don't go down very fast for an incremental increase in prices. Some, or even most of the driving people do is not optional, but some is. Combine that with an incremental increase in carpooling and people choosing to purchase more efficient cars, and you'll have some reduction in the amount of gas used on average. I heard someone say that the best way to reduce your fuel consumption is to keep a very small amount of gas in you tank at all times, that way you're more likely to refuse to do optional driving. Quite right! You'd have to be able to get a contact address, even a phone number if you win the auction. Then let the cops do their work. I wonder if this would be an FBI job, if beyond your state borders. Do such scammers have a way of avoiding capture for a buyer that is already tipped off? Of course it would be easier to get away with it if the buyer isn't aware, but I would think it would be easy to nab them with prior knowledge. Too bad it isn't a case of catching someone selling stolen gear. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. That is an improper comparison. An electric vehicles efficiency also suffers from the losses in power transmission, getting it into your battery and back out to the electric motor that finally makes the car go. If you want to evaluate the relative enviro-friendliness of both the Otto and electric powered vehicles, I would think that would also require the evaluation of what it takes to get the oil/coal/natural gas/whatever to the powerplant and what it takes to get the gas to the local pump. If all you care to evaluate is the relative cost, that is of course much simpler to figure.
