Is that really what it is all about for abortion rights supporters, money to support a pregnant mother and someone else to raise the child? I thought the objections were much deeper. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

No it wasn't. Man: Is this the right room for an argument? Other Man: I've told you once. Man: No you haven't! Other Man: Yes I have. M: When? O: Just now. M: No you didn't! O: Yes I did! M: You didn't! O: I did! M: You didn't! O: I'm telling you, I did! M: You didn't! O: Oh I'm sorry, is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? M: Ah! Just the five minutes. O: Just the five minutes. Thank you. ....Anyway, I did. M: You most certainly did not! O: Now let's get one thing perfectly clear: I most definitely told you! M: Oh no you didn't! O: Oh yes I did! ___ M: Oh no you didn't! O: Oh yes I did! M: Oh no you didn't! O: Oh yes I did! M: Oh no you didn't! O: Oh yes I did! M: Oh no you didn't! O: Oh yes I did! M: Oh no you didn't! O: Oh yes I did! M: No you DIDN'T! O: Oh yes I did! M: No you DIDN'T! O: Oh yes I did! M: No you DIDN'T! O: Oh yes I did! M: Oh look, this isn't an argument! O: Yes it is! M: No it isn't! M: It's just contradiction! O: No it isn't! M: It IS! O: It is NOT! M: You just contradicted me! O: No I didn't! M: You DID! O: No no no! M: You did just then! O: Nonsense! M: (exasperated) Oh, this is futile!! O: No it isn't! M: Yes it is! I came here for a good argument! O: AH, no you didn't, you came here for an *argument*! M: An argument isn't just contradiction. O: Well! it CAN be! M: No it can't! An argument is a connected series of statement intended to establish a proposition. O: No it isn't! M: Yes it is! 'tisn't just contradiction. O: Look, if I *argue* with you, I must take up a contrary position! M: Yes but it isn't just saying "no it isn't". O: Yes it is! M: No it isn't! O: Yes it is! M: No it isn't! O: Yes it is! M: No it ISN'T! Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says. O: It is NOT! M: It is! O: Not at all! M: It is! O: Thank you, that's it. M: (What? O: That's it. Good morning. M: But I was just getting interested! O: I'm sorry, the five minutes is up. M: That was never five minutes!! O: I'm afraid it was. M: No it wasn't..... O: I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to argue any more. M: WHAT?? O: If you want me to go on arguing, you'll have to pay for another five minutes. M: But that was never five minutes just now! (p Oh Come on! ....Oh this is... This is ridiculous! O: I told you... I told you, I'm not allowed to argue unless you PAY! M: Oh all right. There you are. O: Thank you. M: Well... O: Well WHAT? M: That was never five minutes just now. O: I told you, I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid! M: Well I just paid! O: No you didn't! M: I DID!!! O: YOU didn't! M: I DID!!! O: YOU didn't! M: I DID!!! O: YOU didn't! M: I DID!!! O: YOU didn't! M: I don't want to argue about it! O: Well I'm very sorry but you didn't pay! M: Ah HAH!! Well if I didn't pay, why are you arguing??? Ah HAAAAAAHHH! ...Gotcha! O: No you haven't! M: Yes I have! .... If you're arguing, I must have paid. O: Not necessarily. I *could* be arguing in my spare time. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I think the H pattern is stupid. Being able to shift is not so hard, wanting to do it whenever you drive is a different issue. I realize that crotalus01 would not allow it at any time, but are you saying that the choice should be available at any time during the pregnancy? If she carries it past a certain point, it should not surprise you that many/most would choose to not allow abortion. But when is that point at which the value of the unborn should matter? That is the point of this thread. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I think you're right that Muslims providing intelligence is a story that isn't getting much press. Perhaps there would be more of it if it were getting more attention. Perhaps it is a good thing for their continued safety it doesn't get more attention. If you're trying to bump/push start a bike or car, then 2nd will often work better. In 1st gear, you're much more likely to not be able to get the wheel to turn, instead just skidding the tire and coming to a stop. This is because the engine must turn faster for any road speed in a lower gear. Clutch drag (with a wet clutch as on bikes) will also be less in 2nd gear than 1st. That sounds like a commercial I've seen for the cable TV companies. I did get to see it, but with the Cinci announcers, it wasn't quite as much fun as it should have been. Never have been to Safeco, but saw a lot of games from '87 until I left in July of '95 at the Kingdog/homer dome. I know a mechanical engineer that can't drive a stick, so he can't drive his wife's car! He asked me one day to move the car to the other side of the driveway for him, he couldn't even do that much. He is a weird guy, not typical for mechanical engineers. I agree with Kallend, you haven't really experienced a stick shift until you've driven one with no synchronizers. I first learned to drive a manual trannie on motorcycles, but my indoctrination to a stick shift in a 4 wheel vehicle was a '64 Chevy truck 3 speed on the column with no synchro for 1st or reverse. It also didn't have power steering or brakes, you really had to work. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Was I wrong, an asshole or just misunderstood?

Some places and people can have a problem with it because you might keep the plane waiting if you land far away or get delayed for some other reason. I realize that you didn't keep them waiting that time, but if a lot of people do it often enough, then a delay will likely happen often enough to cause a DZO to consider a policy against it. All that doesn't apply, of course, if you are a staff member in high demand for your services. Manual trannies are much more popular in Europe, the opposite in the states. Some make conclusions about yanks based on that preference that are completely unjustified. Why would 2nd gear work better for starting out? The only thing I can think of is if 1st gear is extremely low, as on some 4 wheel drive trucks that have a low range, or if you're really reving it up and dropping the clutch - wanting to prevent a lot of tire spin. I find that the manual transmissions on bikes doesn't feel like a burden to use compared to a car. I think it is much better to just go up and down like on a bike instead of following an H pattern. I also think that shifting is better accomplished with the foot as on a bike, and that control of the clutch and throttle are better suited for the hands as on a bike. But I think some women need to get it out of their heads that if a man refuses to be walked on, that makes him a jerk and f'd up. Let's keep this 'fair and balanced'. Many modern sporty cars now have auto trannies with the ability to choose what gear you want and when you want it to shift. It goes by different names (tiptronic, etc.), but they work very well, and allow you to go into a corner with the rpms up in the power band and let you decide when to shift up and down with a push up or down of the shifter or with paddle switches on the steering wheel. I am very familiar with how these work for Honda/Acura, and they work very well. Many modern auto trannies have become very smooth when shifting. They do this by momentarily shutting off the ignition and/or fuel, very effectively getting rid of the typical shift shock of older cars. Newer designs are much less like 'slush boxes' and feel very solid in comparison. Many modern cars are not at all guilty of this. You often cannot feel any lurch at all, can't distinguish when it has engaged. What cars? Most only require that you turn the ignition on (engine doesn't need to be started) and that you press the brake to get them out of park. Even without electrical power available, you also have the ability to override the safety solenoid by pushing down through a slot near the shifter with something like a key. No argument there. Don't get me wrong, I understand that driving a manual tranny can be a lot of fun, but modern auto trannies have improved greatly. I believe that the fastest dragsters get the power to the ground through specialized auto trannies, with each gear shift selected by a switch. Reverse should be easier, as it is a 'lower' gear than 1st for most cars. What is your technique? When you reach the 'friction point', you must remember to hold it there for a while before letting the clutch out the rest of the way. You also have to be able to apply the right amount of throttle at the same time. Alternatively, you can leave your foot off the throttle, and just get used to where the friction point is, even if you don't ever get going completely (you push the clutch back down before stalling the engine). Then repeat the technique while applying a little throttle. It sounds so easy, doesn't it? I think motorcycles are much easier for a novice to get used to a clutch than a car. Coordination with the feet and legs just isn't that easy compared to the hands. I think the abortion threads are giving a very misleading portrayal of people's true opinions because you can say you would allow it even though you truly do have limits on when. Also, many will say they are against abortion when they would in fact allow it but only if it happens very early. So, I didn't break it down by every month, but I think the choices I presented are reasonable. I have not included any distinction for rape, incest, etc. I personally think these shouldn't matter because I think the value of the unborn isn't related to the circumstances of its conception (let's leave that for another thread, OK). I also haven't made a distinction for the mother's life being in jeopardy because when that truly is the case, I think there is no argument against it. I think there will be very few that will select the two extreme choices. I think this shows that most people are actually a lot more in agreement than it seems when we focus on the allow/disallow extreme. I voted for not after the 3rd month. What's fucked up about her? Mine got fucked up because she thought taking up the hobby of getting drunk was a good way to deal with problems. That is fucked up. It does not activate based on oil pressure, it uses the oil pressure to activate (to push the pin than engages the rocker arms), there is a big difference. It activates based on engine rpm and throttle position, so it will kick in at a lower rpm if you're near full throttle, and it will wait till a higher rpm if you are easy on the throttle. It may involve more criteria for later versions. The mechanism is designed to take hundreds of thousands of activations, so changing the controller will probably mean that you're just more likely to be stressing your engine in general by driving aggressively more often. Any additional stress on the engine is likely due to that alone. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. A pin moves to link up adjacent rocker arms. Do a search on 'vtec mechanism' and you'll find many sources.
