  1. Tim it is a sad reason to meet up but it will be good to see you - will Patti come to the service as well? Tell her I'd love to see her show up. DanT is going to give me a ride to the memorial because the weather still stinks up north and anyway, I'd rather not drive down for that alone. 2. I just heard that Steve's Funeral is next Saturday, December 27th at 3 PM at Flintofts Funeral Home in Issaquah. The address there is 540 East Sunset Way, Issaquah Phone 425-392-6444. I'll miss you Steve. You didn't let on to the rest of us that you were dealing with the liver disease. The big strong silent type until the end. We'll raise a toast or two in your name. 3. Just saw this news article on MSNBC - "Rev. Adelir Antonio de Carli lifted off from the port city of Paranagua on Sunday afternoon, wearing a helmet, thermal suit and a parachute..." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24244282/ According to the article, he is an experienced skydiver.. 4. In the mid-80's at Issaquah Parachute Center, WA I was awarded PV-32. PV stands for PARA-VERT. I'd tell you the reason for the award but then I'd have to "kill" ya! AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers
  5. Here is my page from 1983 at Issaquah Parachute Center, WA (now a shopping mall location). My FJC instructor was actually Bill Jeswine. I slipped on the step climbing out and because of the weight of the gear I couldn't stand back up on the step. I was half on and half off but holding on for life. Bill grabbed my rig and drug me back inside for a go-around. On the second pass I let go with my arms but didn't kick off so the first jump photo has me "lying" on my back, feet up in the air, my eyes closed, my arms outstretched and the pilot chute coming up behind me. What fun to remember where we came from! AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers
  6. Tim - good to see your post. We've missed you at the Paraphenalia BBQs. When the news broke, quite a few of us connected via email and phone calls and were taken back to the terrible memory of the Lodestar crash. Watching the story unfold about the caravan crash was almost like living it all over again. What horror, disbelief, loss. I didn't know anyone on board this time, but the pain was sharp nevertheless. My prayers go out to their families and friends. Tim, you lived because you were supposed to. There's no doubt about that. {{HUGS}} Deb Henry
  7. I received this photo along with the note below from a friend of a friend. I am sharing it for those who knew Bryan and those who shared his Hawaiian holiday memories. ------------------------------- He and Sonja landed on the beach on the opposite side of the stream from the rest of us. I had chased one of the dogs down there and was right under him when he landed, he let out a big "Ya ya ya" when he landed and gave me a big hug, that's the most emotion anyone saw out of him the whole day. 8. Chrysalis is correct. Bill Jeswine was the designer. Most creative types are unique personalities. AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers

  10. Not sure how true it is but I had heard that Jim supposedly said the Stallion was the only plane that scared him. In any regards he was a legend and still is a fond memory. We've lost too many friends over the years... AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers
  11. Hey Jer Nice to see Jimmy's name pop up again. He was such an amazing individual. We were in awe of him and we knew he could fly anything, fix anything and I just loved his sh*t-eatin' grin. I remember he used to lean back on his emergency rig as a back rest but not wear it while flying. I asked him once about that and he said when he quit jumping he quit jumping. He didn't need the rig because he was done with it. Maybe he hit the panel but the way I heard it, was that the plane went in so quickly he couldn't have gotten out if he'd wanted to. The Lord bless him and his memory, they just don't make 'em like that any more. AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers

  14. I still don't know the details but I can't imagine that Tom is gone. He always had a smile on his face. This one is also from the 300 way event; he was sunburned but still smiling. We'll miss you Tom. AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers
  15. I once wrote something similar. Nothing erases that frozen moment in time when you know it is over and yet, you must watch the event still being played out. To be so close yet so far. To scream so loud in your own head. To share the realization and the horror reflected in your skydiving buddy's eyes. He had 86 jumps. His name was Mike. Blue skies. Black Death. 18. George isn't retired from jumping, he's just busy with other things right now. For example, he's currently assigned with the Army National Guard in NC where he is preparing for an 18mos+ deployment in Afghanistan. PM me your contact information and I'll forward it to him. 19. If you're driving onto the ferry, keep driving the length of the island and be sure to stop at Deception Pass where there is a great park (with woods and walking trails), and a wonderful view if you walk out to the center of the bridge. You can continue on from there and follow the HWY signs back to I5 which makes for a nice driving loop. Remember the days are short (really short) this time of year so you might want to go the opposite route and drive up I5 to the Anacortes exit, stay on hwy 20W until you see the major cutoff for Whidbey Island so that you reach Deception Pass earlier in the day and can enjoy it more. Then continue driving down the island to the Mukilteo Ferry and back towards Seattle that way. 22. Received news that Alan (Al) Jobe of Snohomish was killed in a one car accident last weekend. I'm passing the word on for those who knew him. Quoted from:http://spokesmanreview.com/local/story.asp?ID=147914 Man dies when pickup hits tree A 53-year-old man died Saturday morning after the truck he was driving left Interstate 90 east of Sprague and struck a tree. Alan L. Jobe of Snohomish was eastbound on I-90 near mile post 256, about 11 miles east of Sprague, when his 2004 Toyota pickup exited the roadway about 9:14 a.m. Jobe's speed caused the accident, according to Washington State Police. Jobe was wearing his seat belt, police said, and alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
  23. Consider this latest story... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/5278092.stm?ls Another case of suspicious passengers. We are living in tough times and I don't see things improving anytime soon. AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers
  24. I was talking to my cousin on Monday and he told me about a UK news story where passengers aboard an aircraft refused to sit down and take their seats until 2 "suspicious-looking" muslims left the plane. Apparently it held up the departure of the flight for quite some time. I haven't seen anything like that in the press here in the US. Has anyone else heard this story? This kind of behavior is sad and scary (assuming it's true). AZChallenger JFTC99/02 GOFAST300 STILLUV4WAY "It's nothing 1000 jumps won't cure..." - Jeff Gorlick, Seattle Sky Divers
