Went out to our 200ft S this morning. I PCAed my buddy, and we had to use a new GC person, because our regular GC OVERSLEPT and never showed. We schooled him(new GC dude) on PCA right before the jump, however he prematurely released my bridle/PC and I got ground rush like never before. Got open in the basement!. Opened, turned , and flared. However, I had a nice stand up landing. I have jumped this site many times, and this was by FAR the lowest opening I've had on any jump at any site. Skydiving is in no way, shape or form safer than driving. You're not the first skydiver to use the "safer than driving" analogy, and I cringe every time it is used. This is skydiving, not bowling. People can and do get seriously injured all the time. End of rant, sorry if it was a bit much. Again, it's good to hear from you. Blue Skies....(you know the rest.) Jack, Probably outta just start saving, and get the BASE specific gear. Nothing over 200ft here except Scotty's Triangle(A site), which I'm not sure you could fit into or climb to 500-600ft. I agree with you, but is the skydiving fatality list not made "morbidly available" as well? The media will ultimately find out anyway, and usually tell the whole story out of context. When I read a reporters story, it usually doesn't make since, but when I read Nick's page, the stories seem to make alot more since. I am not agreeing or disagreeing on the subject, I'm just saying with the advent of high speed media, the world will eventually find out one way or another. Why not hear it from a person who actually has an idea of what really happened, and has some basic knowledge of BASE. Doesn't Parachutist post a fatality List every Year? What about that Jason? Hey dude, I'm 44, and started jumping at 19. I started BASE at 22. I love to sitfly/freefly, and BASE. I kind of grew board with flatflying, although I still go on a flatfly occasionally.
