OMG!!!! **shaking head** When one goes looking for discrimination, one can find it anywhere - even in the most innocent of acts. Know what? With the jumps that I did on Sunday, I was the only woman on a 7-way. And, then I did some jumps with men and women on it. And, guess what? When I got my PMS #, I did a jump with all women. Know what else? Each jump to me was special for various reasons. Each one I learned something on. And jumping with women does rock! There is a difference in the vibe and feel of the dive. There are days, when I'd love to jump with all women - others, all men, and others a mix. Why? Each group brings their own little "uniqueness" to a dive. Doesn't add/detract from the other groups - just is. There are times when I prefer jumping with Oren, others with Boxman, others with Roy, others with a smaller group of friends...again...none of these jumps are discriminatory in the mix of why I choose to jump with who I do. It has everything to do with my mood and what I want to learn or do on a skydive. Jumping with Oren and Roy - learn a lot, less pressure, a ton of fun, smaller jumps, mixed skillset. Jumping with Boxman - learn a lot, more pressure, ton of fun, larger jumps, higher skillset. Jumping with a smaller group of friends - more fun, learn a lot, pressure usually non-existent, usually 4-way, mixed skillset. Jumping with all men - learn a lot, ton of fun, more pressure. Jumping with all women - learn a lot, ton of fun, less pressure. Jumping with a mixed group of men and women - learn a lot, ton of fun, medium amount of pressure. And, all of the pressure is what I perceive - not what the group does. So, for me...it's what do I want to do that day? What level of pressure do I want to put on myself? And once those questions are decided, I then "attach" myself to the group that I would be best suited for that day. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! 1 injured knee: 4: 0 Got in some nice jumps with Oren this weekend including a 4 pt. 12 way. And wouldn't you know it? After having had that awesome of a dive, I biffed in on landing and injured my knee. It's currently gorgeous colors and swollen. Calling the doc as soon as she opens and going to get an MRI or something along those lines done to see if I did any serious damage to my knee. Until jump # 91, I'd packed for myself once - to get signed off on my requirement. (Can you tell I hated/hate packing?) After my mal on jump # 91, I decided it was time to start packing for myself. Now, I will treat myself to a packer (that sounds kinda dirty ) once in awhile - usually at boogies so that I can expend all my energy on jumping. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! I would feel WAAAAY too self-conscious in a sports bra (OMG! For some reason my girls look huge in those...), a tank top () or a bikini (no comment) at the DZ. You can forget about ME ever PACKING in those! I just couldn't. Creeping is also really, REALLY embarrassing and distracting in a top that is not high enough... Btw, I was taught to pack ages ago by a female packer who taught me to use my whole body when I pack. I have to say that I can get all the air out of the canopy pretty damned fast in a couple of areas... Rosa, honey, that's because your girls are larger than mine so you'd have a little more available for viewing. And, that's also why you bring a t-shirt to throw over your sports bra or bikini top when on the creepers so things don't "creep" out of where they belong. I never thought I'd wear a bikini top to the DZ either, but I'm telling you...in 90+ degree weather with some good humidity going, I'm all for as little clothing as possible to stay cool.
