Anyone use or have opinions about Vortex helmets from Head Hunter? They look nice in the pics but are they any good? Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Thanks Ray, I already have a laser and use it for my video, just wasn't sure what was easier to set first the video or the stills. Thanks "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Hi, I would like to know what practices people use to align there stills and video cameras. I will have my video on the side and my stills just in front of my forehead using a Bonehead Da Bomb helmet. All opinions on this would be greatly appreciated. Ian

Hi, Does anyone have or know where I can get my hands on a repair manual for the PC101. I would like to dismantle mine to see what the actaul problem with the LANC socket is. I've tried to get it apart, but end up getting nowhere. I really only want to know which screws need to be removed to get at the LANC socket. Thanks Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Your right, i should send it back in but they have a 2 wk turn round and its funny how after jumping camera you dont want to jump without one on your head! "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Well, the sony centre fixed it, but it started playing up again 3 jumps later....arghhhhh. So at the moment i'm not using my cameye. "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

I have mine in at a Sony Service Centre at the moment. The are trying to tell me it has been dropped and this has caused the socket to come loose. I have have denied this till i'm blue in the face. I didn't have the heart to tell them it is dropped from 12,000 ft each weekend Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Has anyone had any problems with the Sony LANC connection? Mine has just given up. Originally thought it was my cam-eye, but on trying a second one, it was the same. The DV is now with Sony, but I was wondering if this was a common problem. I have already spoken to one person who has experianced the same. British Airway and Columbus Direct both Suck!
iam replied to iam's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I just came back from a weekend in Spain. I did plan to jump my ass of but British Airways failed to deliver my rig at the same time as me. I got there 10.30am Friday, my kit arrived 4pm Saturday, too late to do anything of any worth. On return I called BA customer services, requesting some form of compensation. To cut a long story short, they basically, and quite rudely, told me it was not their problem. They advised that i should claim on my insurance. I then called Columbus Direct, who i have always used in the past, and they basically told me the same. It would seem that it would have been better if I had lost my kit completely......they would have compensated me then! I am now pissed off and £260 poorer. Anyone any advise if there is another route i can take with BA or Columbus Direct. Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off" -
Thanks for all the tips....got some new things to try in the next couple of weekends, oh, and btw, the door is mor like a caravan door but higher i would say. Thanks again. Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Good Point, at the moment i'm floating from the step on a Nomad which has a left handed door. I seem to be getting much more horizontal seperation than i do when i film 4-way. I am not doing anything special on my exit, just trying to keep my wings in and my eye on the tandem. Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Can anyon give me some tips on how best to exit when filming tandems. I am getting far too much seperation on exit and its taking me upto 15secs to get in fromt of them. I know its probably just practice and being a bit more aggresive, but i would still appreciate any tips. Thanks Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Thanks for the advice. Memory in general is pretty cheap except when you come to but rambus memory. Dont ask me why but it is about 4x the price of sdram. "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Thanks, starting to get the picture....i think. Dont think i've seen any in the uk, or maybe i'm not looking hard enough. Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

I've edited quite a bit of video now using both Studio 8 and Vegas and copied them back to DV tape with no problems. However, i've just tried Premier and i'm very impressed with all the bells and whistles but when i copied the finished project to tape there was quite a lot of "flicker" and "jumping" in some sections, although not all. Any idea why this is happening and how to resolve it. I am using a pentium 4, 128Mb rambus memory and a 32MB video card. All running on XP. Thanks Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Sorry for being a pain in the ass, but i'm not sure what you mean with "capped" ends. Is it possible to post a picture of the two types showing the difference? Many Thanks Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

Hi, is the site any closer to having a chat room yet or has this idea been binned? Cheers Ian "Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"

If your gonna use an RSL, make sure your stable when you dump. I seen a guy dump when he was on his back, this caused the main to snag the RSL, which in turn dumped his reserve for him. After that all he had above his head was a complete pile of shit. I'm sorry to say the guy didn't survive. Be aware. I personally don't use one.
