There are a lot of steel (iron) bridges on the west and northwest side of Portland primarily on the Willamette and other secondary streams. The steel I5 bridge over the Columbia has a drawbridge if I remember correctly. However, it is very unlikely that Gustave Eiffel (1832-1923) had anything to do with these bridges. His crowning achievement was the Eiffel tower which was completed in 1889 as part of the preparations for the 1889 World's Fair (or Universal Exposition) in Paris. After the Eiffel tower, Gustave seems to have devoted his interests to other scientific matters instead of engineering structures. Robert99 I searched google maps and my picture with a "Dan Cooper" in it resembles the train bridge EDIT (WEST) of I5, there is a road right there, I assume that bridge was there in 1971,, Has anybody searched around the bridge/shore area... it is a short float to TBar from there. here is the google image.. edit, it could also be on the other side of Hayden island crossing the Columbia,,

At first I thought it was Bridge of the Gods based on the mountains in the back but I am not that familiar with the bridges in the area in the 1970s. Maybe it is one of the other bridges, It is possible that the money was stashed at one of the truss bridges closer to where the money was found, it became dislodged, floated downstream and was found on the sand bar. This picture looks like it has a fence and some lights, like lamp posts.. hard to tell could be a parking area or storage.. but it might not be accurate today. Hand writing analysis is not fact, more art. Actually the writing on the ticket suggests one person wrote all. The hand writing on those letters match Kenny in some places and don't in others, randomness of patterns. It is not fact that the DNA matches the stamp, but assuming it does, and that info is being withheld that puts Kennys saliva on a stamp not on the hijacked plane.. So, your suspect is circumstantial, as is mine and maybe 1000 others.. It falls short of proof, unless you "believe" that there is a cover up, but there is no proof of that. I wouldn't suggest that Kenny isn't the guy,, everyone is a suspect until they can be eliminated but my process is to try to eliminate my suspect, while it seems most are trying to include their suspect. The facts of this case are actually very thin which forces a lot of speculation, but you need "theory" until you can put somebody on the plane.. My gut feeling is he died in the jump, but I have to rule out my suspect.

There is no major bridge near where it was found! Above water, or below water, or in Spain either! JHC! Has this thread gone mushugannah? I originally thought Bridge of the Gods, are there any closer ones to compare?? I am sure it sounds crazy but I have picture of a confirmed Dan Cooper at a steel truss bridge with an object marked on it, and it shows mountains in the background. I figured it was the North side..

It takes 3 to 4 months for money to lose its tensile strength with sand and water from Tian br. I have done it. I have a jar with money in it right now in front of me with 7 months of rot. I will make a video right now if you like.I will compare with fresh dollar to 7 months of rot. Money falls apart at 3 month time frame with Columbia river sand and water. (Guessing here, since Mitchell first says he didn't notice Cooper being swarthy or dark skin tone, but then says he didn't recall seeing a pretty white guy. This doesn't make a lot of sense. I would have to listen to the audio to see if the transcription is correct. I would guess Mitchell actually MEANT to say he didn't recall seeing anything but a pretty white guy. Hard to tell what he really meant there. If the audio is accurate with the transcript, then this question should be re-addressed with Mitchell.) NOTE: I don't believe Mitchell was interviewed by Geoff Gray. I think the only Mitchell testimony Gray used was from Gray's access to the FBI witness reports. I did not distort the images, only laid one on top of another. The glasses are from my suspect, I darkened them slightly to give the appearance of sunglasses (they are regular glasses on original) only for this image not the transition as Bill Mitchell said he had sunglasses the entire time he saw him, believe it or not there two faces in this image, the shape of the face and head, location of the eyes, eyebrows, hair, nose lips, ears are a dead ringer. Including a turkey neck... gobble gobble Note,, This is a few frames short of the full 100% transition to my suspect.. I think Bill Mitchell should look at this...

There is another angle that I think has been overlooked, it has nothing to do with my suspect, I did not come up with a suspect looking into this.. but it is interesting.. About 30 minutes North of the US/Canadian Peace Arch border is a community called Maillardville, a suburb of Vancouver BC, my grandparents grew up there. it is the largest French Canadian community in the West, a substantial community. They were very blue collar, fully french/english bilingual, extremely french Canadian culturally, smokers, drinkers and military.. they love and celebrate the military most of them were in WW2. Most were born there but were fully french Canadian. My grandparents and their friends would drive to Reno or Vegas every year for their vacation. It was common to cross the border and shop or do day trips. So, when I read the FBIs "cooper" suspect description, it resonated with my knowledge of that community. I thought that Cooper may have come from that community. So, I started to research the possible connection to the titanium on the tie and Canada was a titanium producer and there were companies in the area that used titanium, in fact I found one still in existence today that was started in 1970, DO THEY STILL HAVE EMPLOYEE RECORDS. At this point I got sidetracked with that other suspect and haven't followed up on a possible Maillardville connection, but it should be investigated. According to the flight path the FBI and others DICTATE - no way he was over the WASHOUGAL, but so much of the story I was tolded seemingly involved the Washougal area. Yet, I am told it is impossible per the projected route and YET another well know Cooper searcher maintained until recently that Cooper hit in the Washougal area. Per the flight track being projected by the FBI and the "facts" there was NO way Washougal was involved. I argued till I was blue in the face. When I was out there in 2010 I realized time and space was not part of my memory of the places Weber took me. BET your subject worked on the pipelines &/or powerlines. The GUYS knew that area real well.... Duane claimed to have known 3 guys who he had worked with who went to Mt Hood after the left an area in the 40's. One of the guys played a guitar and wore boots and everywhere he went that guitar went with him. He also rode horses at fairs. NO ONE ever found this old friend of Webers, but surely there was more than one guy who fit that description in the mid 40's. Well, I know we found him but the dead do not talk....and I could never find any of his family to see if they had some old pictures. Good Luck Kiddo! You are starting where I started 18 yrs ago and now I am 73 yrs old and the FBI will not do any investigation beyond what they have which was no more than prints. The prints they have are particials and they do NOT even know if they belonged to Cooper. At least that is what I was told. Evidently the prints they obtained were very smugged. I never meant to imply that the flight was over Washougal.. Speculation,, He landed West of Washougal, then likely crossed it heading East.. he may have fled the area heading East, crossing the Washougal on foot, possibly slipping on rocks and dropping some cash. The image I have of my suspect is older, It is what it is, I am only comparing what I have to the sketch, the shape of the face and position of eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips ears, hair, forehead is bang on. This alone is not conclusive, of course. My suspect is not American and there is evidence that he may have been at the Bridge of the Gods. the only takeaway is that it may place him, a non American in the area at some time,, There are maybe hundreds or a thousand suspects that would fit the "circumstantial" evidence, none is proof until you can put him on the plane. On some of the circumstantial, I was vague on some points, but there are some very strong circumstantial ties to this case. How many suspects have you run across that match all the particles on the tie,,, match the sketch,,, are proven to be connected to the name "Dan Cooper",,, are associated to aviation and were in WW2 Europe,, multilingual,, including french,,, are the right age,,, non American (might explain the lack of cash turning up),, always wore a tie,, I have been trying to eliminate this guy, and I am only left with obtaining that "personal" document which should have fingerprints or possible DNA. Would that solve it, who knows,, is it worth pursuing, yeah, I think so.. it won't cost much, it will come down to opportunity and circumstance.. it will happen. BTW, I do have a short hand writing sample, in a photo, is it confirmed that there was no hand writing evidence from Cooper.. Question,, are there or were there any trails East West at the time,, similar to the North South Pacific Crest Trail

If he survived, fingerprints and DNA, he is likely dead by now, $20 bills in circulation last an average of 7.7 years (today).. there is a possibility that the FBI is withholding something?? i have a gif transition of the suspect sketch to my suspect (age 65-75) and have isolated a still from it. Is there any way to share it without posting it publicly for the world.. I don't think anyone can identify my suspect from it. It shows an identical shape and structure, everything lines up perfectly. The full transition is amazing. Is there any way to have a witness view it??? though the image of my suspect is much older,,

Your suspect sounds interesting indeed, and should be investigated if what you say is accurate. I only want to venture a couple of comments on the money. Two things: 1) FBI agent Larry Carr, the man assigned to the Cooper case before the current agent Curtis Eng, said in a radio interview from 2008 that most banks gave up the search effort for the bills within three months after the FBI released its 34-page list, and virtually all of them within six months. Reason given was the difficulty involved for tellers to try to compare all their incoming twenties against a 34-page list of 10,000 non-sequential numbers. It was a nearly impossible job from the start. 2) I contacted a senior representative from the Treasury Department (Printing and Engraving) in DC back in 2010. I questioned him on a possible search for the Cooper bills back when the hijacking occurred. He said they receive literally truckloads of bills a day, and such a search, even if it were ordered by the Justice Department, would have been virtually impossible to implement. He said even if any efforts were made, such efforts would have been very short-term and the chances of locating one particular matching bill vitually impossible. What does this all mean? It means that by April of 1972 it would have been safe for the hijacker to pass the bills with little to no risk of being caught...because no one was looking anyway. I am no expert on the currency system, but there is the immediate notification that went to banks (3 months), then there is the general circulation and destruction of bills for replacement, I would expect the serial numbers to be recorded. So, I would assume that if the money were eventually spent in the US that at some point a serial numbered bill would turn up somewhere in the system or be recorded. On the other hand, bills circulating outside the US may not be treated the same, not just the immediate notification but upon destruction. I do know that there is more US money floating outside the US than inside. This needs expert clarification.. My working conclusion, it may have been safe to spend the bills in the US after 3 months but over the full lifespan of the bills in the system I would expect one to turn up.

The evidence indicates that my suspect may have been at the North side of the Bridge of the Gods (the escape route), My speculation is that he landed east of the flight path but west of Washougal and east of intended LZ and escape route, he could have dropped some money crossing the Washougal at night, perhaps slipped on rocks and stumbled or fell, he may have had a car stashed somewhere east of the Washougal. (pure speculation in the context of my suspect) I do have a serious question that some here may know,, Is the flight path different between the Mexico and Reno destinations, in other words, did the change to Reno put the plane slightly West of the expected path or would the paths be the same?? I am trying to figure out the "expected" path to Mexico vs "actual" path to Reno.. same or different? On the tie, the titanium was a rare pure form, said not to be found in airplane manufacture, perhaps, I wouldn't rule it out/in. Further, "GreyCopGC148" left out an explanation for all the other particles found on the tie, my suspect has an explanation for all the identified particles found,, Clearly, all suspects are circumstantial until evidence puts him on the plane,, My suspect has the best circumstantial case that i have seen, I have tried to rule him out but can't YET, though I did uncover the existence of a "personal" document that I am very confident I will obtain, so hopefully fingerprints and possible DNA will rule him in or out,,, but that may depend on what the FBI REALLY has,,, BTW.. I was at the Washington Museum Saturday symposium for the Cooper discussion and neither myself nor my suspect is American... and I have not, will not read any Cooper books, I wanted to look at this fresh and objective.. NOT US resident re "negotiable American currency" (controversial) Aviation experience/knowledge/interest World traveller WW2 experience in Europe The particles found on the tie are a match YES a match, all of them Age, mid to late 40's in 1971 I used Adobe software to transition an obtained photo of suspect at about age 65-75 with the Cooper sketch, it is an amazing match. The position of eyes, jawline, ears, forehead, hairline, everything lines up EXACTLY.. His hair is a bit odd looking, natural but may be mistaken as a toupee Always wore a tie "Dan Cooper", has proven exposure to the name, but it is not his name NOT swarthy, though that witness sitting near him denied swarthiness.. (recent audio interview) Somewhat effeminate, meek character Works under pressure Multilingual Raleigh's perhaps from Europe WW2 military exposure.. Found evidence that he may have been at the north end of the Bridge of the Gods, a possible escape route,,, Lack of money found circulating,, taken outside US immediately, (I wonder if it could be traced in the banking system if spent outside the US in the 1970's) So, interesting, worth pursuing or not... I have a "blended' image between the Cooper sketch and my suspect that is UNBELIEVABLE, but I am reluctant to let it get into the public sphere at this early stage,,,

Sorry...I've just gotta say (and I'm not singling anyone out)...I've been following the thread for three years. I don't post for two reasons: 1. I don't have anything substantive to offer in the way of new info and/or leads. 2. This forum truly has devolved into childish bickering and in-fighting. I, for one, am sick of it. Can you guys please stop bashing each other and return to a dialog more centrally focused on solving this thing, once-and-for-all?
