And that's the point. Ed may be a shining example of "doing it for the love", but not everybody is. Many are just doing it for the money. How many rich professional skydivers do YOU know??? The $$$ isn't that good. Ask someone who JUST skydives for a living what their monthly paycheck after taxes is... it's not even enough to cover the mortgage - not even close. I don't know a single skydiving instructor doing it "just for the money" including the Golden Knights, Black Daggers, the Test Board, and other military freefall instructors. Those guys get paid to do it regularly but still bring their families to the dz on the weekend to instruct... believe me, it's not for the money.

I think it's the other way around. I distinguish skydiving from BASE - I think the wingsuiting part is similar.

Robert had a pretty clear-cut take on direction of wingsuiting in this month's Skydiving... "In the future, I think that wingsuit skydiving will develop into sub-disciplines, with suits optimized for each discipline, similar to what we see on the canopy market. 1. Free flocking for those who love cruising around the skies with friends. 2. Acrobatic flying for performing acrobatic maneuvers. 3. Performance flying for maximizing flight performance." If so, I have a hotel room with an extra room and a rental car with unlimited miles. I fly into Gulfport around 10:00 pm Friday and leave around 6:00 pm Sunday. I'm going to call ahead and make sure my waiver's ready to go. If there's anyone (female, of course), that's still looking for a room, PM me and I might be able to help you out...

Might make a good poll... Answer for me is no. People don't see me fly my wingsuit that often (mostly at boogies) but I find myself bringing it up at least once a weekend and usually bringing my suit out and at least hooking it up just in case the mood strikes... Usually it just takes someone to see me come down and land with that big gigantic smile on my face and they're sold.
