Not a problem I thought I'd ever have either... Details: night jump, 3rd pass, me as the Asst JM right door. Handed off my static line after exiting about 10 jumpers over Luzon, headed out the door, and the next thing you know I'm hanging upside down from my HPT lowering line. I wasn't jumping my M1950 wpns case so my lowering line (brand new) was exposed on the left side. I had just exchanged it that morning because the Hook/Pile tape was getting raggedy on mine and it must have come out of the stow a little bit during all the shuffle. Anyway, safety saw my static line stay in the corner of the trail edge of the door instead of rising to the top and then saw the green, pulled out his JM knife and cut it. Chute opened, no problem, even "lowered" my gear which actually just fell to the ground because my lowering line was cut, and landed about 20 feet from the edge of the DZ! I agree. I have very little experience on other canopies. I've jumped a Raider, a Navigator, a Sabre, and have the most on a Sabre2. That one was my favorite. Only one bad opening and that was most likely due to a bad pack job. My sabre2 snivelled every time. As for pack job - I still flat pack but I use a roll pack method that Chuck taught me. It's neat and easy to put in the bag. It's even easy with a new ZP canopy. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here

Derek Thomas puts the webbing retainer on the short side where the buckle and then secures the slack of the strap in an S-Fold configuration. Doesn't require the "stop". Once under canopy, you just pull the S-Fold out and loosen your strap. Because it is so long, you don't have to worry about it coming undone. The thick-lipped floating metal bar on the "buckle" will stop the strap from pulling free - especially when you lean forward and put pressure on it. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here
