You do realize that people, for whatever F'd up reason, frequently come in and admit to being the perpetrator of crimes? If they vaguely resemble the actual perpetrator or saw enough on the news before making the claim, it can take a long time to get it sorted out. What truly amazes me is that the same people who get all holier-than-thou about the US using drone strikes to kill people are somehow for the death penalty. They're both state sponsored killings. I don't think that's a power that they should have. To whoever blamed the liberals... have you done any actual research on the subject? The biggest reason that states are having problems with lethal executions has to do with the fact that we got the drugs from another country. They decided they didn't like the fact that we were using them to kill people and cut us off. Don't you worry though, we're a resourceful people, we'll find some other crap to use to kill them and the bodies will keep piling up. Think for yourself. Question authority.

If you look it up online, the practice wasn't started until Reagan and there are a lot of mixed feelings about it. Typically, you don't salute if either person is in civvies, so, even if the president has served, he's not in uniform and there is no reason for him to salute. On the other hand, the Marine will salute the office every time until protocol is changed and he is told not to. He's not saluting Obama, he's saluting the President of the United States of America. My nephew once described his fear of heights by saying this, "When I look over the side, I feel like I'm supposed to jump off." So the whole edges thing makes sense. I quit many years ago, but in some states, smoking can actually be cited as the reason for termination. Smokers are seen as less productive than non-smokers, because they don't need to take breaks as frequently. New York was definitely one of those places. We had a problem employee that made sure he did the bare minimum to not get fired for performance reasons. He smoked, so my boss fired him and used that as the reason. Kind of made me perk up and pay attention to labor laws a lot more. Think for yourself. Question authority. -
