Hi! My name is Felipe and I'm from Brazil. I did a tandem last year and then started my AFF training a couple of weeks ago. I did my level 3 yesterday, so it was the first time the jumpmasters let me fly on my own.
For the first 10-12 seconds I did relatively okay, wobbling here and there... But then I span 360 degrees left and when I tried to stabilize position, my instructor, who was competently close enough, caught me by the right leg and arm, which was a good thing, because I did not want to deploy on a spin. After stabilizing, I locked onto altimeter at 6.000 ft and deployed.
I was a bit disappointed because I wasn't stable during all free fall time, but once I saw the footage, I realized I could've arched a bit better! I did not freak out because of the spin, but looking back, right after my instructor stabilized my position, I remember I was not thinking on arching better, especially because my main focus was altitude awareness.
Anyway... There's always something we can improve and after all I got stoked I was approved to level 4.
Skydiving is AWESOME!
Blue skies!
