  1. Like the US citizens being held indefinitely without being charged with a crime and with no access to an attorney because they are suspected terrorists?? I can't condone that, but it's not the same as having a trial for someone formally ACCUSED of crimes, which is what we're talking about. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  2. I don't think we're on the same page. Do you think the Criminal Court has authority over a single murder? Or just genocide? Would they have authority over the US' decisions re: Iraq? Or bomb an aspirin factory? -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  3. More like US citizens in US courts under US laws and Constitution. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

  5. Maybe... I have no idea what Iraq is like right now, but as I recall people were rather happy when Saddam's regime fell. How many people died at the hands of Saddam? -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  6. Let Iraq try its own criminals in its own courts rather than allow the UN to exceed the scope of its charter in an effort to become the government of the world at the expense of the US' sovereignty. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

  9. Well, that's kind of the point. We want and expect others to be tried for war crimes, but don't want to be subjected to it ourselves. It kind of insinuates that we want everyone to be accountable for their actions except us. I think there's a difference between a military official sanctioning rape, murder followed by mass graves and chemical attacks than what those idiots would be trying to do right now to Tommy Franks, given the chance. The US won't put itself in a position of being second guessed for its policies. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. 10. I *think* that's what the Supreme Court said about 65 years ago in a case arising from a sawed off shotgun. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  11. Damn, I think you just set the record for the longest poll. [Homer Simpson] Ummm, Butterfinger [/Homer] -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  12. Some elderly people can't see stop lights and T-bone cars in the intersection at 55 mph. Others who can't see over the steering wheel, suddenly cut across 3 lanes of traffic on I-95 after driving 55 in the left lane with the blinker on for 10 miles. Kids make mistakes and may drive fast, but at least they're capable of driving safely. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. 14. One problem is the elderly don't know that they're a danger. I know of one woman who drove from Pennsylvania to Florida and back. The following week she went to her doctor for a routine exam. He asked how she got there and she said she drove... He said you know, you're legally blind! -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  15. Why would the US want to submit itself to that? It has no advantage for us. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  16. [replyThe registration itself in no way hampers either your alleged right to own a weapon or the legality of owning a weapon. It is merely a list. Just like the Motor Vehicle Administration, the Selective Service, Social Security, or any other list. With one difference, it identifies me by my exercise of constiutional rights as a member of a group. Driving a car is a privilege. Taxes are to be paid by all. It's not like any other list and Big Brother has no legitimate reason to keep it. No, the Supreme Court doesn't have decisions going both ways. They haven't really spoken directly on the issue on a long time. The primary decision that you are talking about is from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which are the most reversed judges in the country. They just can't seem to follow the law or accurately quote the opinions of the founding fathers. The opinion was issued in response to the 5th Circuit's opinion that there is an individual right to bear arms. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Shit

But when I say someone's acting like a "Sugar Head"...it just doesn't have the same ring. It wouldn't sound right if you said "Excuse me, I have to take a sugar??" -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

  20. [replyIs part of that moral obligation to be a knowledge and active citizen as well? Before disobeying "unjust" laws, are you also morally obligated to fight them before they are enacted? Are you obligated to actually do anything, such as vote, demonstrate or write your elected officials? I say yes. While I'm sure you don't fall into this category, I say the whiners that do nothing to prevent things to which they object have not fulfilled the prerequisites to morally entitle them to civil disobedience. Retroactive anger and childish posturing do nothing. Those same people often also dodge personal responsibility for their actions. They aren't willing to put forth any effort to stop the laws, nor are they willing to let themselves be taken away in handcuffs for publicly breaking them. Yeah, an individual matters to "our" elected officials and the NRA rolled over in California. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
  21. Only if you report the car stolen, does it really matter. As for identifying criminals, there might be one or two databases for that already. Exactly, registration is the first law to enable to seizure of firearms. It's not merely paperwork. I have the right to bear arms. You have no constitutional right to own a piece of property. You have a right to due process of law and fair compensation. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt
