  1. Are you serious?... Film “Why we jump” is addressing skydiving as a lifestyle. I believe that you are taking Pablito’s words out of context giving them meaning that they were never intended to have. Also, high-risk behavior have been heavily research and determined to be more linked to the quest for so called “positive transformation” than suicide. So, could you clarify the point that you are making because skydivers are simply not suicidal ….. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  2. In my opinion video clip with Bill Booth is awesome and undeniably inspirational. As for the good vs. bad (impact of this video release) it depends entirely on someone’s view on Huffington Post reporting style. Some believe that HuffPo “abandon reason for madness" for example by promoting pseudo-science. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  3. +1 Great post. Too bad that idiosyncrasy of human nature is so hard to override. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  4. This is not a brand new concept. Stabile deployments can get boring for some people . Observe…. https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1017514085761 The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  5. Giving up something that we love, even temporarily, is never easy and we will always find justification for not doing it. However, the truth of the matter is that measurements have shown that on average, sport canopies tend to generate opening shocks averaging to the 3 to 6-Gs after a skydive performed at terminal velocity. Hard openings have been documented at about 9 to 12 G's. Any data on long and short term impact of the above G forces on pregnant or developing human body are very hard (if not impossible) to come by. So, at the current knowledge base, a rational discussion about safety of “pregnant jumping” is kind of like talking about things we do not know that we do not know. Luckily there is also that thing called common sense
  6. This is just a general question out of curiosity. Textile (polyamides) used in the construction of parachutes are sensitive to temperatures in excess of 93oC. It is also estimated that a black panel in full sun could get up to 91oC if no paths other than radiation were available for cooling the panel. Could somebody explain to me, apart for the coolness factor , why making rigs with the black hardware would be a good idea. Flying the wing after deployment will most likely dissipate the unwanted heat from the rig. However, what about waiting for the loads in areas that are not always shaded or other unintentional sun exposures. I hope I am missing something here but the idea of black hardware sounds like asking for the unnecessary problems to me. 7. Thank you for a very informative response. Btw I never mentioned or implied that I would consider or attempt jumping with any camera prior to meeting 200 jumps/C-license USPA recommendation... The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  8. Hello, I haven't come across any reviews regarding potential applicability of the isaw camera for skydiving. So, I am wondering whether there is some inherent or obvious reason (bit rate, resolution, memory of software issues) why this camera has not received “skydiving” attention comparable other pov cameras. 9. Hi, I do own Tonfly Performer helmet (upgraded recently to Speed version). It is light, quiet and fits like a glove (literally, so make sure to get the appropriate size). I am a bit biased with regard to the external altimeter port, since display of my Optima got damaged due to the metal connector strike during opening (rental gear). As long as you are flying canopies with soft link connectors this should not be an issue though. Audible pockets will easily hold Optima or comparable size altimeter. I got >100 jumps on this helmet and still like it. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  10. I concur. I took Brian’s two day course at Virginia Skydiving Canter and left truly inspired not only by Brian’s in-depth knowledge but also unmatched perspective on skydiving and risks associated with it. Plus, we also had a lot of fun doing it. Thank you, Brian. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking
  11. Hey Guys! My new G3 Cookie helmet ordered form ChutingStar arrived yesterday. Apart from the fact that it looks awesome , I noticed small random bubbles across the surface of the visor. Following the “peeling G2 visor” thread got me thinking that visor installed on my helmet must be still G2 type (and it was). I emailed ChutingStar this morning and they took care of the problem right away (just received tracking number for the visor). So, I wanted to say a big thank you to ChutingStar for rectifying the issue in such an expedited fashion. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.
