Great thing about the Farm is they don't need anything exciting or special planned for it to be a exciting special kick ass time. I've heard the joke on these forums that "Nothing happends at the Farm". Well if that's true, then why do the regular "Farm Animals" have to go off to all these other major boogies Just to get some REST!! I hope it's OK for me to come up to the Farm tomorrow. (I'll bring chicks) Randy

anyone else having a character building day?
jumpnrandy replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in The Bonfire
After! After is always better. Better yet, start it now, drink beers, spellcheck, drink more beers, edit and post. Repeat if necessary. -
Hey Judy, The responsibility of not allowing someone to jump “under the influence” is shared by DZO, DZM and pilot in command. From the FAR’s: Sec. 105.7 Use of alcohol and drugs No person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft, if that person is or appears to be under the influence of-- (a) Alcohol, or (b) Any drug that affects that person's faculties in any way contrary to safety. Again, “under the influence” is not defined and remains unclear. There are specific BAC standards for flying a plane, driving a car, commercial truck, school bus, operating a train, etc. Yet, there is no standard in skydiving and therefore, left to interpretation. Due to an individuals tolerance of alcohol, one person may have a beer and not be able to find their way to manifest while someone else may drink a 12 pack within a few hours of jumping and not appear to have had a drop of alcohol in their system. Additionally, there are those that look like they just came off skid row and have never consumed alcohol in their life. There is way to much grey area regarding this issue and I have never witnessed a DZO or Pilot perform Standard Field Sobriety Testing prior to boarding a jump plane. If this is a mater of such concern for the skydiving community as a whole, then perhaps it should be addressed. I personally have not witnessed a situation where common sense and self policing within our community having not prevailed.

Well, Yes, Yes I do. If fact for a lot of years and lots of jumps at lots of DZ's. That’s been my mantra for many years. All I do is jump and stay more current in the air than on a keyboard. Wow! I am proud to have been attacked by someone having so much experience in the sport as listed in your profile. Proud indeed. Thank you for putting me in my place.

Not true. While a particular DZ may have an operating procedure or policy to the activity you speak of with such conviction, there is no law that prevents one from consuming a beer and jumping from a plane. The FAR’s make clear reference to jumping while “under the influence”, however the FAA does not define “under the influence” for skydivers.

If I were in porno flicks, my screen name would be...
jumpnrandy replied to waltappel's topic in The Bonfire
I was once told that everone's true porn name is the name of their first pet and then the name of the first street they lived on. Try it. It's fun. Mine would be Ringo Somoa. Have fun with it. Randy -
BOD Meeting Notes for July 2006
jumpnrandy replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No, it means there won't be a name on the ballot. Whoever has the most "write-in" votes will be the Southeast Regional Director. Mike Are you looking to be written in? -
Kennesaw and the airport are about as far away from each other you can be and still remain in the metro Atlanta area. Traffic is a mess between 7 and 10 AM and 3 to 7 PM. The drive from your hotel to Kennesaw will take well over an hour and possibly over 2 hours each way. Let your boss know this. He might want to rethink the hotel location. There are several nice places to stay in the Marietta / Kennesaw area. As far as diner, I second the nomination of The Blue Ridge Grill. It’s a wonderful place. Also consider the Atlanta Fish Market. The Buckhead Diner is another great place to eat. Don't let the name Diner fool you. Hope you enjoy our home town. http://www.buckheadrestaurants.com

Do you think they should file an official protest with the meet director for the extra alltitude. Randy

Their video flyer might be the biggest (tallest and most fat) one of the group.

Hey, I might know. Does it weigh around 1200 pounds and can hang on the outside of a twin otter. God help the pilot. This is going to be some funny shit. Randy

Hey Bro, Glad your coming again this year, no equipment required for DVD contributions. I will have one or two Macs and one linear editing system on hand for people shooting Tandem Vids to use. "i refuse to spend the weekend in the Vid tent again this year" David, I'll be there again and bring my editing station for all to use. I'll help with some of the jumps also only if you make a few jumps yourself. Two years in a row stuck in a tent is enough. You are jumping this year even if we have to hold you down to put a rig on you, then carry your non jumping ass to the plane and throw your ass out. Now, that would make for great boogie video. Randy

Have not heard anything back. Are you still having problems with e-mail.

What to do about a family member addicted to crack.
jumpnrandy replied to Deuce's topic in The Bonfire
Trying to be funny, as in TROLL Or do you really have a family member in this unfortunate situation. Those that know me well, know of my brother. While I will not share in the purported humor, I'll be glad to share other details if you are serious. People who know, know better. People who don't know, don't matter. Randy -
Its lots of things. From my experience it would be: (not in any particular order) Having Jerry Bird coach you and put you on your first big way. Going from the (hot at the time "Raider") to a ZP canopy and having Rickster help you with your landings. Having jumped a NOVA (OMG) Receiving the honor and pleasure of having Gus Wing stay late at night in the hanger helping you assemble and configure your first camera helmet. Proudly wearing a “Tree People” shirt during a BIC course at Z-Hills and not giving a shit. Jumping the Florabama. Pulling off a bandit demo. Doing a Cross Country with four of your best friends while having two beers stuffed in your jump suit. And most important, having met some of the most wonderful people in the world. God!! I Love this Sport! Randy

Check your e-mail. Good luck.

I think Carol has a Billy World sticker. It might be stuck on an old cooler in the garage. I'll look and get back to you. Randy BTW, she actually jumped there.

I'm very sorry this happened. However, I could not agree more. I was on the plane with the guy jumping out of Rome, several years ago, where he did a hop n pop from 13,500 and then shot himself while under canopy. How bazaar! How bazaar! While I don't remember his name, it was his third jump of the day. He was from a neighboring DZ and was in absolute great spirits. (Or so it seemed) Then again, while waiting to meet the plane at Lake Wales in 1997, I watched two guys keep tossing a cue ball to each other until they both had Cypress Fires right over the landing area. Again, all I can think is: How bazaar! How bazaar! My best to family and friends. Randy

Contacts or glasses to jump?
jumpnrandy replied to virginflyer3's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I use extended wear contacts that stay in for weeks at a time. I use flex Z goggles and rarely have a problem. Randy -
Not sure how they got their name but remember Blowjobs are just like "Liver and Onions". You don't get either one at HOME Edit sp

That is why you should never, ever, NEVER get out of the vehicle. This is no requirement for you to incriminate yourself. Especially on video. Chances are that if you get stopped, you are going for the ride in the back of the squad car anyway, SO, don’t give them any evidence. Hand them your license, registration and insurance card and keep your mouth shut. Do Not answer have you been drinking. When they ask you to step out of the vehicle for some field tests, simply state in a polite way that you do not want to perform any field test. Saying “I’d rather not do that” will be fine. The police will then arrest you for DUI. But remember, they were going to do it anyway. When they tell you that you are under arrest, politely get out of the vehicle and follow their instructions. But then, DON’T take any other test. Not a Breath Test, not a Blood Test and No Field Sobriety Tests. They will charge you with refusal but so what. You are going to lose you license anyway. Don’t give them evidence that they don’t already have to use against you. They are not your friend. You will not talk or walk your way out of the situation. Never! But really, I’ve already cut way back on my drinking and driving. I CAN’T AFFORD THE GAS ANYMORE!

Chris, I love you and am very sorry for your loss. We go back many, many years and you are like the Brother I never had. Carol and my prayers are with you, Julie and your family. I lost my Dad when I was in my teens. God Speed and Be Strong. Now is a very busy time for you taking care of official duties and the general stuff sons do when a parent is lost. I am here for you. Just call me. I’ll call you later next week when things settle down a bit. In the mean time, don’t hesitate to call me for anything you need. Carol and Randy
