Hey everyone! I figured I'd make my first post here before I go nuts everywhere else on the forum. I registered this account right before I started my first ground school, but it's been a minute since I've been here. . .
I did my first tandem on my 27th birthday at Skydive Spaceland, got addicted, obsessed, you know the story. Two months later I found myself doing my first solo after ground school. I took a week off of work to have the time to make as many student jumps as I could. Everything went well until DF3, heading maintenance. The instructor let go, and I started to spin and couldn't correct. That was only the beginning. I failed level 3 seven times before we all had a sit down and decided it would be best to get some wind tunnel training before we continued. Considering I couldn't afford to drive to Austin, it was a while before I was confident enough to go back.
Cut to 3 years later, I have acquired a fiance and a baby and I'm trying to figure out what to do for my 30th birthday. My mom mentions, non-nonchalantly, "You know, you could do that indoor skydiving they just opened up in Houston". I cancel my cruise plans, do about 20 minutes at iFLY which apparently fixes all of the things, and take the ground course again. I pass DF3, 4, and 5 the week of my 30th birthday. I was going to keep going, but then Tropical Storm Bill came and said hello on my only 2 days off last week
NOW I'm just going insane waiting on the next time I can go jump, it's hard when we both work full time with a baby. I think Dropzones around the world would benefit from a daycare
I figure actually participating here and talking with you fine folks will help pass the time and prepare me to go back!
