  1. Dangle dive..about half a mile from exit slide your mate outthe door and just hold his feet, hang him down and dangle him (dont tie his laces together or remove his shoes whilst inthe situation) did i say that !!Then when overthe spot just dive out still holding his ankles. Just make sure all handles and BOC are secure and be ready to release atthe hint of a pilot chute. Done it many times and landed with no shoes..and feet tied together.did i say that again !! By the way, perfect for a 206
  2. Hi Guys, Im 43, been Skydiving for a good time and after a few crap years is looking to get abroad for a few seasons. Anyone looking for a Camera man?
  3. and you're going to have to change your name too. Didn't they outlaw longbows in the UK last decade? No, Longbows and Crossbows are stll legal here..as an Englishman I obviously favour the Longbow.
  4. The Constitution was written many years ago..is that not supposed to move with the times, is it honestly set in stone? Just asking as somone across the pond. Cheers
  5. Jump number 452. Second malfunction in two days after despatching Students, walking back in with reserve under arms...CCI simply said...No point in using your main this weekend just go out and pull your reserve.
  6. When you jump of a diving board and perform your reserve drills before hitting the water
  7. Dont let the fear of a malfunction stop you. Good training and you practicing will keep you safe. As for the fear, that will never leave you will just be able to control it. I dont know what its like in your part of the world but over here in England, its the drive to the DZ and then home thats the dangerous bit of the day. Always always pin check your reserve, make sure it moves and keep the cutaway cables oiled and ready as per the manufacture instructions and you will be fine. Then if the S**t does hit the fan, its just a quick chop and three seconds later you will be stuffing the pad and silver down your suit enjoying the white canopy above your head. Practice practice practice...good luck
  8. Ive just returned to Skydiving after a 15 year break and 15 years wiser...more time and older now to think about it. Yes it scares me and thats good, some of us actually get off on the fear thats part of the natural drug. Just tell yourself youve got two parachutes on, one will always work and visualise yourself walking in after the jump with the chute over your shoulder and feeling pumped up. Every experienced skydiver will say they feel fear but we can all manage it and make it work for us however, If its making you ill then maybe its not the sport for you. Good luck
  9. I asked the Tandem instructer today at about 6 k "have the balckouts stopped"
  10. My point exactly, its all changed with FreeStyle being the big thing now. Great that our sport can still evolve
  11. The biggest thing thats changed after my 15 year break and return to Skydiving is this FS stuff. It looks fun but back in my day (thats the old bugger bit) flying on your back was called unstable !! Missed skydiving and missed skydivers...we are a strange breed. I even qualify for POPS now.
  12. First, congratulations, dont get hung up on a small issue. Backsliding is very common with new skydivers, just make a thought "think legs" when next jumping and push them back slightly. Was it legs in or arms forward though, maybe both? Whatever the cause its nothing major at all at this stage of your skydiving. I followed a Tandem out today and had to "think legs"...we all do at times Good luck with the dive exit on Sunday. Jon
  13. Hi Guys, Just got two jumps in from the top at Cerney. Rolled the nose real tight on both jumps, and the tail. Glad to say two gorgeous slow on heading openings. Not walking like John Wayne again !! Cheers and blue skies. Jon
  14. Thanks fellas, Great to be be back in the sport, spent the last 15 years looking at the sky and avoiding any programme with Skydiving on it. Wifes gone...skydivings back....fair swap. Ill try a gentle nose roll this weekend. Blue Skies
  15. Id flick on my back and flat spin to red out. Soon be drinking beer with the man upstairs.
  16. Also enjoy the twists now, when you get onto a small fast canopy they can be a real pain. I had them ona 120 years ago. Spinning against the kicking, i had to get off in the end. Good advice though, check the canopy quickly as twists may be the least of your worries.
  17. 5 in total. Dropped a handle, old front and back rounds in 1987. Handle floated over shoulder...couldnt find so chest reserve at terminal ! Canopy collision at 1000 feet over Dunkerswell early 90's, cutaway at 800feet. Brand new rig, reserve packed at factory. Two line twists on a Stilleto 120, both cutaways as rotating against my kick, make a decision and go for it. Testing a student static line rig that had problems...it did.. got off it.
  18. Cheers, I will try the un rolled nose pushed into the canopy. i dont mind firm and have had many of those in the past, but hate openings where it is a hold your breath time when letting the pilot chute go. I can tell you the sport has changed sooo much since i left in 97. Great to be back though. Thanks again
  19. Hi, Again please excuse me if i sound new to the sport, i am not just new to the sport now. When i pack the slider is opened out over the rolled nose and pushed into the canopy. Hope that helps?
  20. Hi Guys, I have just short of 1000 jumps and have returned back to Skydiving after a long break (marriage and kids) I am using a Hurricane 150, second hand with 450 jumps on it. Openings are on heading but can be hard, I am rolling the nose as i did on my canopies back in the late 90's, but the info i am getting now is that nose rolling will not slow the opening down on the latest kit? I welcome your thoughts on how to get soft and slow openings.
