  1. I'm watching Miracle on 34th st and doing laundry. Love that show. It is amazing that Natalie Wood was such an actress at a young age.
  2. I read the link. I stand by what I said the internet has a nasty habit of making people say stupid things. How come everyone on the internet has a big dick? It is the same basic principle talking big behind an screen name. As I said in my original post there is a fine line to be walked. I fully support our security services infiltrating terrorist groups and I know that this means that they have to "Participate". Participation obviously means making a contribution seen as valuable by the suspects BUT I am tempered by the realisation that a lonely misguided young person bragging on the internet might need therapy more than arrest. So do you agree with the UK prosecuting this guy and the measures taken? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/twitter-joke-led-to-terror-act-arrest-and-airport-life-ban-1870913.html in the US, you are considered an adult at 18. you are deemed responsible for your actions. you can even vote for a different president if you disagree on politics. he may be lonely, or whatver, but he is a violent homicidal person. he can get therapy in jail until he understands the problem. your whole acceptance of this seems ludicrous to the level of fantasy. real crazies go to real jail.
  3. They were discussing this on the radio this morning and I think it is a very fine line. Alot of teenage boys are easily swayed and have stupid idea's that they never follow through with. Looking at their age I suspect that THEIR interests might have been better served with a visit from the neighbourhood cops, telling them they were stepping dangerously close to crossing a line of no return. "Enabling" stupid young men to do stupid things doesn't actually serve them justice or reduce the terrorist threat. What it does is make people feel good that the authorities are watching out for us. A senior member of Britians counter-terrorism unit wrote a book and expressed frustration that the more successful they are the LESS people appreciate what they need to do. He also saw success as preventing young men from being radicalised. i was addressing the facts in this situation. go to the top of the thread, follow the link, read the article. he was on facebook praising jihadists for months. he tried to recruit 3 others who, like sane people, rejected him. he expressed interest in going to Afghanistan to fight. this was his publicly expressed opinion for months. read the article on the link. if anyone was pushing this kid, it happened before the fbi was called by the informant.
  4. For you it will end when you move to a country that is without terror threats. Until then, be thankful that men and women are working 24/7 to keep your country safe. If you don't like that approach then vote for folks who are against national security. If you really want to make an organic statement stop buying products associated with oil. actually... the little ;) at the end of the line signaled a joke. it is internet-ese for a wink. other posters recognized it as sarcasm. it was a thinly veiled jab at the goobers who claim entrapment whenever someone is caught by the fbi. basically, the fbi cannot talk normal people into attempting a car-bombing. the normal people in mosques are who is turning them in to the fbi.
  5. i decided to go for the life of glamour, instead of the money. How's that workin' out for you? So far, no money - all going according to plan.
  6. entrapment? again ? when will it end ? ;)
  7. i decided to go for the life of glamour, instead of the money.
  8. John always had the greasy approach of a used-car salesman. Never inspired trust. (Being a lawyer and a politician - integrity is expected to be in short supply) In politics, the family becomes part of the public image. That is a bitter pill to swallow when having to back a jerk like him. When he lost, it allowed her to leave him in a dignified manner. People understood.
  9. I really detest the show Punked. It has one basic premise - abuse the trust of someone who is close to you. So, I thought - we need to find a valid target for that show. How about Cheaters? The other ignorant, irritating, valueless tv show. Set one show onto the other. Solve two problems. Call up Cheaters and tell them that some guy is cheating on some woman. Then, secretly follow the film crew of Cheaters around. You know those guys are on the road all the time... hanging in some bars... talking to the honeys. Film them. Then, give away free tequila shorts at the bar... and show up two hours later with the girlfriends of the Cheaters film crew... and the boyfriends of the girls they were hitting on... and let nature take its course.
  10. That's a good attribute. I was watching Dr. Oz one day and he said he had the biggest secret to getting a woman in the mood. He presented...a vacuum! Dr Oz's biggest secret is that he doesn't know nuttin. If you have to grovel, you've got no best feature.
  11. my hands. if someone cooks me dinner, i use them to wash the dishes.
  12. Mrom what i have read, avg world GDP is supposed to grow by 3.5 to 3.7 %. China will double that. Most of Europe will not grow appreciably, Germany leading and Greece treading water. The US economy will stay essentially the same until the end of 2011. Unemployment level has not reduced.
  13. Plus we're married, we don't have that look of....desperation, that women are so attracted to. sure, i make poor choices, but those are the only ones i have. women complain about how i treat them. i expect they'd date better men if they could. ;) "the default date"
  14. you keep them away from us at boogies. that is probably good too. "see those guys? don't talk to them. those are the bad examples."
  15. i am not brad pitt, but i am available. they will never meet bp. if they did, he will not have sex with them. if they buy me a few drinks, i might. :) to be fair, i am not expecting megan fox to buy the drinks. most people understand that they have to ask, in order to find out. if someone asks, why is this such an issue? be an adult, say no. there is no rule that only the super-hot get to ask.
  16. Yahoo is laying off a thousand. Verizon will be laying off another 10,000 this year. Rumor is that it will hit 35% of the IT management. All the Vz IT people that I know generally work 60 hrs a week, so it is not a lack of work.
  17. I mean, can we say "over-reaction" ? Cutting off their tails ? Is that a solution that we want to teach kids? "I'm upset today... where are my carving knives?"
  18. We need new songs. It is freaky the songs people sing to kids. How about "rock a bye baby" to put them to sleep? "When the bough breaks..." What? Who puts a cradle in the top of a tree on a windy day? "down will come baby, cradle and all..." Try to sleep after that part of the song. Terrorize the baby, like that's good idea. No wonder people are in therapy by the age of 8. Songs with happy endings, an improvement.
  19. That is a really nice 16-way. It seems like there should be some sort of minimum to qualify as a hybrid. Example - a 50-way with 1 sitflyer is a hybrid, but... At the minimum, a 2-10 ratio perhaps. On Page 71 of the Nov Parachutist is a pic of a 15-way hybrid from earlier this year. 10 flat-fliers and 3 vertical and 2 sit-fliers. It was a 2-pt attempt. On later attempts, 2 headdown people docked on the top. There were a number of good 1-pt dives, but the second points had difficult speed differences.
  20. I wonder if this wasn't someone from the Muslim community. Portland is one of 100 cities that any person could say that about. It isn't about the lack of FBI protection. It is the lack of anything generally happening there.
  21. Are they candy panties or does that cost extra? They are not just a breakfast food anymore. ;)
  22. If you read the post that I quoted (responded to), it mentioned odd requests/insults/etc. I was responding with my own story. Context, topic, reply -how conversation works. My fav packer is a vegan and one of the healthiest, nicest people that I know. I didn't say "all vegans are raging lunatics", just two. Typical single-volume response though. Feel free to try to untwist your panties now.
  23. Transportation Security Administration That is any mode of transportation. A few years ago, a train bombing in Madrid killed/wounded 2,000 people. Nothing to stop the TSA from selecting jurisdiction on any mode of transportation. Trains ? How about that cruise next year ? To board the boat, do you want your kids frisked by the helpful TSA agent ?
  24. In one of the local restaurants, there are two servers who are vegans. I came in for breakfast and asked for a ham omelet and got "the speech". My reply was, "If you have such a problem with people eating chicken and pork products, shouldn't you skip the breakfast shift ?" "Just trying to educate people." (Imagine how irritating arrogance is, when hungry and before coffee) When the space aliens land, I am going to educate them on how nutritious those two vegans are.
  25. i would guess that it must take a while because normal people couldn't be convinced that it is a good idea to car bomb a public gathering like that. normal people do not want to intentionally kill children. the fbi cannot "convince" non-psychopaths to do that. the fbi found this nutcase through tips from the normal people in his community.
