  1. They have been a politically expedient organization for decades. Examples - Anita Hills makes politically timed sexual harassment charges against a conservative SC nominee and gets all kinds of open support. Five other women charge a President with sexual harassment and unwanted physical contact, but you could hear the crickets chirping over at the NOW offices. They have no problem sacrificing women for the political purposes. They have done it for decades.
  2. Because it is good for business. The owner of the Fark.com website wrote a book about his observations. One thing that he noted is the Pepsi-Coke false dichotomy. There are always ads comparing Pepsi and Coke, as if there were no other choices. In this situation though, you can actually make the choice of another flavor and get the drink you want. (At least superficially, drink flavors are owned on a regional level, so the money goes to a limited number of owners) If you choose, someone who does not have a voting coalition behind them, your candidate may win, but spend their elected term being used as the whipping boy for the other parties - and accomplish little.
  3. Oh that was mean! When he got loose, he was chasing people around. It's difficult to look threatening like that.
  4. Yesterday, on the drive home, I was listening to a radio show where Dick Van Dyke was a guest. Long ago, he had a very popular tv show. I wonder if they would have to rename the show today. "You can't say that... or that. I don't care if it is his name."
  5. No need to wonder why. Read this But, so long ago... last week. Something more current... this week. So, looking around in a subway and seeing a suitcase could be something to worry about. Who takes a suitcase on the subway? A suitcase that might be heavy enough to want to roll? Someone with this goal - An increase.
  6. At Clewiston a couple of years ago, a guy got zip-tied to a chair. A half gallon bottle of syrup, some cream, 2 bags of multi-colored feathers, and topped off with a silver tiara. It was a good look for him though.
  7. 100 is still 20 times more than you do that first month. To the non-jumping population, it is a huge number. So, it is still big when you are first starting.
  8. Considering the "carefully scripted lies" of the 43rd Administration, do you really want to go down that road? I don't think the vast majority of voters want leadership via lies. So, you are against lying? Definitely? In fact, if someone was discovered to have delivered deliberate falsehoods before the election, you would not vote for them? Most Dems won't state that. That was my point. They seem to be ok with knowingly voting for candidates who have been proven to make up stuff before the election. Goofy as CO's opinions are, nobody would make that up. Her opinions are out there, but they are hers.
  9. I think these guys are way too adult for me. ;)
  10. Pie is a social event. It is recognition of a milestone by the only people who value it. Your peers are helping you celebrate. Nothing that a 5-minute shower can't remove. I still have my pictures.
  11. People make mistakes. The only thing to consider if you do this a lot. If it happens a lot, then consider whether you have the appropriate skills to be on a jump of that complexity. If you make a mistake, or see one, learn from it. You can always back it down a little and focus on that particular skill.
  12. Considering the "carefully scripted lies" of the 43rd Administration, do you really want to go down that road? I don't think the vast majority of voters want leadership via lies. Voters don't supply the money that builds a political campaign, groups with a narrow agenda do. Remember the Hillary campaign? Snipers? Her "I've always been a gun supporter" Her reminders that she really has always been religious? Remember the Clinton program - lie and lie often. Her weekly deviations from the truth became embarrassing to her handlers. Instead of "It's the economy, stupid", it was "It's your mouth, stupid". My point, did anyone care? No. Political supporters are single-issue groups. As long as she voted on their one item, no one cared. Political parties are about voting issues and not honesty. It is just amazing to me that the Dems are so unapologetic about it.
  13. interesting You never can tell what people will come up with. Not that expensive. We all know someone who could use one...
  14. No. People misspeak all the time. People, when speaking extemporaneously, do occasionally say things inelegantly. Comedians had a LOT of fun with GWB over this. He was a gaff machine, but if you honestly looked at what he was saying, it might have been a lot of other things, but it wasn't actually crazy. This is MILES different than what O'Donnell has done. Her saying she was a witch or saying masturbation is the same thing as adultery wasn't simply her misspeaking. It was intentionally said and nutty. The Dems have no problem with the well-thought-out, carefully scripted lies of Dem party candidates. We all remember the Hillary campaign, don't we? How embarrassing was that?
  15. During the drive home, NPR stated that the federal funding was 1% of their immediate budget. Plus there is the natl endow for the arts funds. The big problem is the small stations that broadcast NPR. They would have to cancel. The Fed govt gets your money and then returns it as funding for roads and schools... if you mind. That is their control. NPR echoes whatever admin policy is.
  16. I have noticed that news in the buff provides just as much value when it is presented in Russian. :)
  17. Who will write the book? A guest appearance on "Fringe"? I think she would fit right in. In other countries, they do the news in the buff. Maybe she could be a "celebrity news" correspondent on E! Giggling would be ok then.
  18. Wrong...she is ur worst nightmare...not ur fantasy. aka....coreece Ya gotta have a minimum standard. ;)
  19. Halloween is a chance to dress up as something separate from real life. Otherwise, a HW party would be all witches. ;)
  20. "Hello sir, tonight is customer appreciation night. We have fresh tacos in the back of the cruiser if you'd like one..."
  21. Palin is a better politician though. She speaks to her audience and was once gov. Even with speech writers, CO can't make public appearances. The press will destroy her with a question. Sometimes nobody cares. Remember the Hillary campaign? A lie per week, past embarrassing. Hillary had unshakeable support from womens groups though. "Sniper fire..." CO does not have the dedicated core group. Palin may be onto something with the mom group. Imagine redirecting the Cure fundraiser people from fighting disease to a campaign for a woman pres. ;)
  22. I can just see it now: Political Pulchritude These beauties get our vote Wendy P. When she gets nervous, she blurts stuff out, so no political commentator job. Maybe a blog with ghost-writers. Playboy does the college theme stuff ala Girls of the Ivy League. "politically incorrect women" ? I need suggestions.
  23. Backers are doing that. Quietly backing away. She violates two rules of politics. Never say anything that you don't want repeated. Never volunteer information. Adding to this, she seems to say dumb stuff that teenagers should know. So, where does the next door open? Not business or politics. I have to go with a 12 month countdown to a playboy offer.
  24. It used to be that drivers believed cars could not go faster than 150 on a flat track because the tires would break traction in the corners. Among other things, banked tracks solved that problem.
  25. Just something to consider - people sit against the wall in the tail of an Otter. The bolts that hold the seatbelts go into that wall. There is a possibility of a snag point for hacky fabric or a loop of bridle. If people are leaning against that wall on the ride up, they should ask for a lower-pin/bridle check.
