  1. Nope ... But I did talk to a female security guard yesterday and it wasn't until she started talking that I knew who I was talking to. She wasn't totally butch, but she did resemble an effeminate male until as I said she started talking. Obviously there are some MTF transgendered people who can pass, but it's so much easier for the FTM transgendered people to pass in society. Oh but I did see something today at lunch which made me totally crack up. It wasn't like this guy was trying to pass as a girl or anything like that. But in downtown Vancouver today I saw this oriental dude wearing a fur coat (very much a woman's coat) and it reminded me of the Sienfeld episode where David Pudy wore a fur coach. 2. My hockey team won our playoff game tonight in OT and are one win away from advancing to the finals.

  4. Velo's are awesome canopies. But are these people you speaking of really jumping stock Velos? I'm no expert and I've only started jumping a JVX and still have much to learn about it. But I can tell you that it is a very smooth and responsive wing to be flying and it's fast.

  6. If the TO area BASE crew want to take him to some legal sites, then go at it, film to your hearts delight. But I can't for the life of me think that TO would have any local legal sites. We don't need another repeat of what happened in Cincinnati. If you don't understand why producing a film showing a whole bunch of illegal sites is contrary to good BASE ethics, might I suggest you direct yourself to the top of this forum and read them again. When it comes to illegal jumps, the best ones are when the only people who know about it are the jumpers and ground crew. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but any self-respecting BASE jumper following the sport's ethics will NOT be ready, willing and able to help you out. There are just too many questionable people out there and too many sites needing protection for the locals to just up and at it in terms of helping unknown people like yourself. You need to understand our ethics and respect our sport to understand why people won't just call you up and help you. Sorry ... but that's just the way it is sometimes. And I'm no authority in the sport. I'm just some dude trying to follow the ethics in order to not hurt the sport. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. If memory serves me correct, the long term economy parking lots at DIA went for $7/day. So 5 times 7 equals 35. Where's the other $99 going to? You sure you're not hanging out in the airport lounge eating and drinking ultra expensive meals and drinks? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. You guys talk as if the illegals only work in the farming industries. Don't forget that they are used in other places as well (fastfood, construction, etc, etc, etc). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Sure you can. Come to Sky Knights and pay $7 any day of the week for a hop-n-pop out of the 182. You guys suck!!! I pay $24 for 3k hop n' pops up here in Canad'ia. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. There's enough oil in Alberta to power the entire world for something like 50 years. But you Yanks need to be nice to us Ice-Backs if you want us to share it with you. Then again you could always use your military to take it from us. But let's not go down that route since we wouldn't want to have Joe's thread moved into the Speaker Corner. 12. You can't walk into a fastfood restaurant in Denver CO without seeing virtually the entire staff made up of people of Mexican heritage. MacDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, etc, etc, etc. Virtually the entire workforce is Mexican. Of course I don't know the legal status of these people but usually the only ones who could speak English are the ones manning the cash registers and even their English is less than desirable at times and it's not uncommon to get the wrong food order. Now before some people get their panties in a bind (not in reference to you masterrig), I work in a very multi-cultural environment where myself as the white caucasin Canadian is in the minority. The company I work at has many orientals from Hong Kong, some East Indians, Pakistanis, Chileans, Iranians, Russians, Poles and Serbians. Oh and yes there are a couple of us white guys (but we're in the minority). I only say this so that you know I'm not a racist who's complaining about the Mexican work force in Colorado restaurants. Oh and MacDonalds is a DOW Jones stock component right? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. If you had to choose between the two, then yes Milosevic did authorize some really bad behavior by his followers and is the worse of the two. But GWB is no angel. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Would I be ranting if I pointed out that the INS holds double standards as to how they treat people coming from different countries? If you're from a certain part of the world and you have the right skills, the INS has an open door policy towards allowing people in and becoming permanent residents and citizens if they want. If you're from another country that has so called free-trade agreements, they'll let you in as a temporary resident (assuming you meet the oppropriate skill set), but bring up the idea of trying to obtain permanent status and the INS does everything in their power to show you the door and even threatens you with permanent bans. And if you're an illegal from Mexico, well they just turn a blind eye. Okay yes I was ranting. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Whuffos seem to think that all skydivers are these extreme adrenaline junkie people and while some folks do get worked up before a jump (usually the people new to the sport), many of us are actually reserved up there prior to exiting the aircraft. The secret to skydiving well in freefall is to be calm and relaxed. Well yelling and screaming isn't going to calm you down now is it. Plus as I said, it's usually the lower timers who are the ones acting aggresive in the airplane prior to exiting. Despite the fact that I'm a swooper and a BASE jumper. I don't think of myself as this extreme sports adrenaline junkie. I just like playing in the skies, I love flying my canopies (from pocket rocket swooping machines to big monster BASE boats) and I've choosen the sky as my play ground just as others have choosen the golf course as their play ground. To each their own. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. There are days that I look at my one Tattoo and think "what was I thinking" and other days that I look at it and say "cool". But I don't regret my Tattoo. It's something that I can easily hide when I'm around people who look down on those with Tattoos. To each their own, if you want one (or more than one) you'll get them. If you don't want one, then you'll never get one. But to address why you see many skydivers with one, well just look at the type of people the sport attracts. I'm going through some growing pains right now with my new employer (I'm a software developer and the IT world is very nerdy full of whimpy stereo-types) now that word has gotten out to everyone (including management) that I'm this suicudal skydiver and the product managers are leary about giving me work (I bet if they knew I was a jumper before being offered my contract I never would have been offered it). These are the sort of people who take no risks at all in their lives. Not exactly the type of people who get Tattoos now are they? It would be nice if people stopped judging each other, but that is a pipe dream I guess. I'm not saying you're judging us Tattoo'ers, but maybe you are. But it's okay if you don't want one. Tattoos (like skydiving) are not for everyone. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. That it is ... or should I say was, since that part of the world seems to have calmed down. Or is it just a case of other parts of the world heating up. Also for what it's worth, I work with several Serbs and they seem to be good people. But it's no surpise that the ordinary citizen can be a good person while their leaders are anything but. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. There is a double standard in the US when it comes to the INS and immigrants. People coming to the US legally are scrutinized (as they likely should be) by the INS with many qualified people being turned away while a blind eye is turned to the Latinos who are in the US illegally only because they are a cheap source of labor. Until the US gets tough on businesses employing the illegals, this trend won't change. But the longer you guys wait, the more illegals there are and the more polical power they gain. In otherwords they are here to stay and you'll never get rid of them. Hope you're brushing up on your spanish. Turn these safe santucary cities into glass parking lots!!! ... Just kidding ... 19. Bravo! That was beautiful, billvon. Thanks for ending the week with a refreshing and most excellent message. Yes John but you neglect to leave this part of Bill's post out which helps back up your position: Personally I thought it was a well balanced post by Mr Bill. 23. With so many religious people in the world willing to kill the other guy because of their religious beliefs (based on the texts written many many many moons ago by their respective ancestors), which one do you believe is the truth? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Americans are big on their freedoms and don't get me wrong I think freedom is an awesome thing definitely worth fighting for. But what some of you are advocating is to take the freedom of the your young people away and giving control of their lives to the government. Is this America promoting this or have I entered the Twilight Zone. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Nor did he need to worry about a religious president who's God talks to him in his sleep and tells him that he needs to invade a foreign country in order to rid them of their WMD (despite the fact that this country already got rid of their WMD) which has created more of these suicidal religious fanatics than there were three years ago.
