2 pointsThis site is apparently going tit's up. As the gal who had the biggest thread ( except db) I want to say thank you to all of you for the discourse over the years. It's been fun!

1 pointMy dad wrote a book about self development and spirituality about 30 or 40 years ago. It was always his dream to have it published, but he never got around to it. I discovered a few weeks ago that copyright law and his will meant I could publish it. I was able to self publish it on Amazon kindle and print and within 48 hours of it going live it achieved Sales Rank of number 1 in Personal Growth and Inspiration category and 1716 in overall Kindle ranking. Pretty proud of him and happy that it’s getting read.

1 pointI believe the end of this month is the end of dz.com. Also quite my job around teh same timeframe. Time for new adventures. I will miss dz.com as a place for political discourse and getting a sense of some for what plays for my friends south of the border. Over time understanding the various characters has just made that more fun. You and I certainly had had our battles, but certainly don't harbour any ill will. That is only reserved for one person here. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a great 2025 and beyond. I hope I am very wrong about what it will bring.

1 pointI am neither in a court of law, nor running a science experiment. Just a low T Canadian schooling a macho American special forces hero on his own country.
-
1 pointBecause a law exists that precludes this. This law has not (yet) been challenged on a constitutional basis and is therefor in force. Hard to imagine this needs to be explained to an American. Do you not understand how things work in your country?

1 pointIt was literally published in two DIFFERENT newspapers before he ever spoke to the FBI. Why would Cossey have had a "personal parachute" without D-rings? The dude was a skydiver. Why would Cossey have even owned an NB-6 as a "personal parachute"? Again, he was a world class skydiver. They weren't jumping with NB-6's, modified or otherwise. The ONLY inconsistency is between the canopy description provided by Hayden and Cossey (who both said 28 foot) and the packing card. I can't explain that discrepancy, but I simply can't follow your logic here because why would his personal chute be such a basic piece of shit with no D-rings?

1 pointLike not fingerbanging women who don't want to? Or not stealing from a children's charity? Or not commit felonies?
-
1 pointThat the same Gym Jordan who allowed the wrestlers in his care to get raped? The ones that were right there, under his nose? Like in the same room, or the next room over...that guy?
-
1 pointThe women in your life must be so proud of you - crowing about a convicted sexual assaulter getting money for being called a rapist instead of a digital penetrator. Are you really on a mission to see just how disgusting you can get in the couple of weeks that are left?
-
1 pointThe concept of a rate is that it is normalised to population size and therefore doesn’t include a comparison of the number of aliens with that of the entire US population. Jeez, no wonder people vote for Trump. Isn’t this stuff taught in US schools?

1 pointOh ok, so they’re abnormal, unnatural, mentally ill, and you specifically worry about them that any one could be a pedo in disguise… but you don’t hate them. Glad we cleared that up.
-
1 pointHoly Shit! Jim Jordan released a report titled: "THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION’S OPEN-BORDERS POLICIES: THE CASE OF THE ILLEGAL ALIEN WHO BRUTALLY ASSAULTED A TEENAGE LOUISIANA GIRL". For sure it's "Fair and Balanced". I'll put it on my reading list. Thanks.
-
1 pointFun fact - American citizens commit violent crimes at twice the rate that illegal immigrants do. So if you are worried about precious innocent defenseless etc American girls being raped, getting more illegal immigrants in your town (and fewer people like Trump) is your best option.

1 pointWild to see right wingers like BH here practicing their excuses for Trump's anticipated bungling of the economy. Even they know it's coming.

1 pointIt was really interesting to see the recent spate of news about the opposition making gains in Syria last week. Amazing to hear the news about Assad. It's easy to celebrate these milestones (and we should), but we should still be very concerned about what's next. ISIS could decide to make a power play, the forces in power could totally fail to deliver public services, or someone else could simply step up with his own brand of authoritarianism as just a different kind of "bad" for Syria. I'm not sure we should be a part of the re-building of institutions and democracy, considering our penchant for "getting ahead of our skis" when we start out trying to do the right thing. But I certainly think we should support our allies stepping in to assist in the process. The earlier a new government can get off the ground, the better the whole region will be.

1 pointI also think about Tonto, whenever I come on dz.com Wendy P.

1 pointI started in the early 'zeroes' and there was still quite a bit of dark humor. It's toned down quite a bit over the years, but it's still there. Definitely kept away from early students and tandems. But it's still there. "Do you guys really jump from a perfectly good airplane? You haven't seen this airplane, have you?" "First one to the crater gets the good stuff." "If you have a total, aim for your rigger's car". "If you're going in, you've done everything you can, and there's nothing left; reach down, yank off one shoe and shove it down the front of your jumpsuit. It won't change the outcome, but everyone will go nuts trying to figure out how that happened." Instructor: What do you do if the main doesn't open? Student: Pull the silver handle (yes, back in the days of single handle). Instructor: What do you do if the reserve doesn't open? Student: ??? Instructor: Walk towards the bright light. I never actually pulled it off, but back when I was flying the 182, I wanted to find a red & white "Blind man" cane. Sit quietly on one of the couches, waiting as the TI gets the student harnessed up, then ask "you ready?", stand up, grab the cane and start 'tapping' my way to the plane. Student and their friends all ask "who is THAT?!?!" TI: "That's our pilot. We don't have to pay him a lot. Besides, taking off and climbing to altitude is the easy part. Wait until you see him land. One of the TIs was all in for that. He did have a pretty odd sense of humor. Also, the SNL skit was pretty funny. Grim, but funny.

1 pointBe careful if you venture there. Those things are nicknamed "Death Straps". There's differing opinions on whether that nickname is deserved or not, but such straps do add risk to a skydive in ways that are not readily apparent, so always keep thinking critically. My advice would be to seek out someone who is experienced in parabatics jumps with and without such straps, and jump/talk with them extensively. And because of their perceived risks, people are more likely to talk construction and dimensions when in-person rather than via the internet with someone far away.
